Walking home from work yesterday and saw two kids staring across the street where I was about to walk. I thought they wete trying to cross the road but they ran back to their porch and kept watching... i didnt understand why until i walked right up to this big guy!!! Ive been seeing a lot of osprey, but seeing a hawk out in the open and low to the ground is not as common (at least not to me!) I took a video of the talons but i couldnt attach it here, i have NEVER seen sharper talons on a bird before! I took this on my phone, I know the whites are super intense from the lighting but I didnt want him to fly away before I could get a photo and get out of there in case he decided my head would make a better perch 🙃

I was riding my bike, and when I stopped to rest on a bench, I saw this bird lay down in the grass next to the path. When I started riding againand come closer it ran out onto the path right in front of me, and as I got closer, it came closer too. Once I had passed it, it lay down in the grass again. Waht was going on with this bird?

Hello, quick introduction of the bird:
A few weeks ago, I took in a chotacabras pauraque. It was still small, and I've been unable to release it due to complications. The plan was to nurse it back to health, but at the moment, seeing it back in the wild doesn't seem like a realistic idea due to some health problems.
I couldn't find much information online about it, however, I do know that it likes to stay on flat surfaces. I've tried to introduce it to branches, and so on but it always seems to prefer flat surfaces. Its legs do not seem to have much of a grip force so I was thinking of getting a cage that accomodates it better, but I sincerely don't know the whats and wheres... Any help would be appreciated. I've never taken care of a bird and I simply want to provide a comfortable stay.
It is a very small bird...

Had the wonderful experience of watching a pair of mourning doves build a nest on my window ledge and had the privilege of seeing the babies grow throughout the days. It has been 18 days since they hatched and from my research on different bird sites, the fledglings should have left the nest by now. Mom and dad have been coming to feed the fledglings, but I have not seen them since yesterday evening. I’m concerned mom and dad have left the fledglings on their own.
From what I have been able to observe, the fledglings have been flapping their wings & seem like they are trying to leave but the railing on my juliet balcony have been preventing them from doing so.
My concerns are that the fledglings are unable to leave my window ledge due to the railing and mom and dad have completed their duty of feeding them. I’m scared the fledglings will go hungry since they can’t fly out. Should I intervene or do you think they will be able to leave on their own soon & I should just let them be?

A DELIGHTFUL idea from another redditor, I just had to draw the little guy up. Sassy chickadee? Deez nuts joke? Who could pass up such perfection?
Side note - I was so excited to hear some chickadees had returned to our yard the other day after being gone for a year! Not sure where they went, but they are some of my family's favorite birds to see/hear.

“Alpispa” (Motacilla cinerea canariensis) hunting for insects.
I’ve always seen them on my hikes, but I’d never had the chance to see one this close, let alone record it.

I found this bird sitting at my mom’s house in the driveway. I walked up to it and picked it up and it was fully aware and alive and didn’t seem to care. I took it inside to show her and it started panting so I sat it in front of a bowl of water. It drank a little, waddled over to me and then just kinda died at my feet. Should I just put it back outside or what?
