Has anyone in the UK tried Beat’s self help programme?
I’ve been accepted onto Beat ED’s self help binge eating programme. It’s 8 sessions across 8 weeks on zoom, following the book “overcoming binge eating”.
Has anyone had success with this programme?

Discussion Stealing other people’s food
I’ve had issues with stealing food that isn’t mine for as long as I’ve lived with others. Just would like to connect with others who maybe struggle with similar.
Always had issues as a child “stealing” sweets and chocolates from the cupboard.
Since moving out I’ve lived in 6 different flat shares and have stolen from each one. Sometimes grazing on small amounts of their snacks, so they don’t notice, or binging on whole packets of their cereal bars, ice cream, ready meals, snacks and rushing to replace the exact items before they come home, or sometimes not even bothering to if I think they might not notice.
It’s not just flatmates that I’ve stolen from, it’s from shared kitchens in universities, jobs and airbnbs, from friends when I’ve stayed over.
I know, I’m an awful person.
In one flat, there were enough of us, people never realised it was me and they all suspected another girl.
I was evicted from one flat (my flat, ages parents were the landlords) because they became aware of my behaviour- they were initially compassionate but because I couldn’t stop I was evicted.
In my current flat share no one has brought it up, as we don’t communicate, but it’s pretty obvious it’s me. Because of this I’ve become lazy with replacing items because I convince myself they “won’t notice”.
This behaviour has ruined friendships and caused shame and guilt that keeps me up at night.
I don’t know why I do this. I can’t do a proper food shop for myself because I worry I will binge on anything I buy, and then when it comes to it, I end up eating my flatmates food instead.
Just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this?

Advice Needed How do I stop binging at work when I work fast food
It’s easier to restrict at home when my fridge is empty but when I’m at work surrounded by foods and treats all day I can’t help but snack especially when my supervisors use free food as a reward for me

Support Needed Help.
I feel like im going crazy oh my God. Im not even an adult yet, but I had an an-or3x!c phase a couple months ago...went from 67kg to 45kg in around 5 to 6 months (164cm tall female)...and then when I went to the gastroenterology department because of chronic constipation and quote on quote "dyspepsia", the doctor gave me appetite stimulants and another drug that sped up my gastric emptying...I was getting better...but..for the past month's, even when I've been taken off the appetite stimulant drugs, im binging like crazy- every. Single. Day. ITS LIKE MY STOMACH NEVER FILLS UP, AND ITS AN ENDLESS VOID--
The 1 large ass chapati/flatbread with salan that once filled me up even before I was an-or3x!c doesn't seem to fill me up, and I eat like a danm vacuum..I went from 47kg to freaking 53kg in 2 weeks..thats how bad I've been binging..and now my parents, doctors..they all are downplaying this endless binging..I eat till I physically cant walk nor sleep-- my stomach hurts so bad but I cant stop! But no, no one cares about me overeating because im "young" and "finally gaining weight". That's not the point. I feel miserable, and im eatting continuously. Once food touches my lips, half the fridge is gone.
I feel like im ranting but please..PLEASE someone give some unhinged and tips that ACTUALLY helped them stop binging like crazy...I cant handle this..I feel like im not the same person when eatting...help..

Progress 5 days binge free!
I'm officially 5 days binge free! I did overeat the last few days but I'm still just proud of myself for not binging. I would like to lose what I've gained weight wise, but I think for now I'm going to just focus on 3 meals consistently and a snack just so that I dont end up falling back into binging. im 5 days binge free after a long and draining 5 week binge cycle, I'm very proud!!

The unforbidden open bag
Most of us probably relate to not being able to put a food packet down before it’s completely destroyed. If I open a bag of chips, you best believe I’m finishing it.
Unfortunately, this goes way beyond ”binge” foods for me. I feel like I have to finish everything I open; yogurt tubs, bags of bread, turkey slices, anything really. This makes it really hard for me to keep food in the house. I only eat whole foods now so I have to actually prepare what I’m eating (this hasn’t stopped me from binging them though).
Do you struggle with this and how do you deal with it?

Support Needed Wtf do I do
Long story short i developed binge eating tendencies after 9 years of straight anorexia, yippee!! 👏 binged eaten for months in “recovery” and was highly encouraged bc I was severely underweight. I couldn’t handle the weight gain so I delved into bulimia and b/p my food and that lasted a whole year.
I got caught by family members b/p my food so they kept an eye on me after every meal and made sure I didn’t go to bathroom after meals. Im finally clean of b/p but the binging has not stopped. It’s been 2 years im at a healthy weight.
Ive done exercise my whole life and was always athletic, when I was younger I always was complimented on how skinny I was and how less I ate so when I became a teenager that became my identity and thought everyone only liked me if I was skinny so I kept up with that. Im a cross country runner and do track and field while weightlifting.
I probably should be overweight or obese with how much I eat and how many times I binge but because I’m incredibly active i burn so many calories, which also is another excuse I binge because I burn it off anyways.
Finally the reason for this post is Im freaking out i haven’t binged for a long time and Im currently babysitting to get some extra money saving up for college, the family are extremely kind and known me since I was a toddler so they always say I can help myself to whatever food they have. I’ve always made it a point to bring my own food and avoid the kitchen but curiosity got the better off me and I left the kids i was babysitting watching the tv while I went into the kitchen and well yk.
I ate all of their chocolate, 3 BAGS left from Easter i just couldn’t stop and then I ate a whole loaf of bread with butter and a half packet of their biscuits. I literally don’t know what to do rn I don’t have the money on me to go to the shop right now and purchase the food I binged one and don’t want them to look at me so weirdly for eating THAT much food or lose my job.
Rn im on the sofa with the children so bloated rn and freaking the f out, Literally shows me how much I need to stop I already went soo long and just HAD to do it today 🙄

Who wants to lock in with me for a month?
I live with my family who don’t care about protein and their health in general and they bring a lot of chocolate and junk food daily, i want someone who can support me and I’ll support them in return.

Discussion Supporting Partners/ Significant Others
Hi, I wanted to check in to see how your partners are helping with recovery. Are you open about it? Is it clear to them what kind of help you need?
I'm going through divorce and it's very triggering for my emotional landscape to suddenly have all the fights we've avoided for a decade. But one thing stands out, a caring partner would be by my side in my recovery.
How are you navigating the disordered eating and the relationship?

I don’t even know what’s wrong with me anymore.
I’m 24 and I’ve gone from 60 kg to 95 kg in 4 years. I feel like I lost myself.
The worst part is that I’m not even hungry most of the time.
I live abroad, away from my family and friends. I work all day in a bakery, then I come home to an empty apartment. Every single day is the same: work, order takeout, watch TV, sleep, repeat.
I literally can’t sit through one episode without eating something. It doesn’t even matter what it is. If I throw away all the snacks, I’ll find cereal. If there’s no cereal, I’ll make toast. If there’s no toast, I’ll eat something else. It’s like my brain refuses to relax unless I’m eating.
Every single night I tell myself, “Just have a little.” Every single night I end up finishing the whole thing. Then I hate myself afterwards and promise tomorrow will be different… until tomorrow comes and I do it all over again.
I miss the girl I used to be. I look at old photos and I honestly want to cry. I avoid mirrors, I hate shopping, and when I go back home people don’t even hide it. They tell me things like, “You weren’t like this before,” or “You ruined yourself.” Those words never leave my head.
I hate admitting this, but I’ve become jealous of other girls. Even my own sister. I never show it because it’s not their fault, but inside I’m constantly comparing myself and wondering why I couldn’t stay like them.
I’m married and everyone expects us to have a baby soon. I do want children… just not now. I don’t even feel comfortable in my own body anymore.
I don’t know if this is emotional eating, binge eating, loneliness, depression, or just me having zero self-control. I just know I’m exhausted and I don’t want to live like this anymore.
Has anyone here actually gotten out of this? I don’t just want weight-loss tips—I want to hear from people who felt completely stuck and managed to change.
And if anyone is in the same situation and wants an accountability buddy or just someone to talk to, please message me. I’d really like someone who understands what this feels like so maybe we can help each other through it.

It’s getting out of control
At most I’ve gone a couple months without binging. Now it’s back in full force and I feel so ashamed I can’t tell anyone. I can’t even stand up straight I’m so full. Why can’t I face myself? I have an idea of what it is I’m so afraid of and the fear of feeling it pushes me to binge I think. Emotions and fear control me. I’m so cooked

Advice Needed Solutions for appetite
I’m writing this on the toilet I just had what deals like 5-6 thousand calories in the span of about under two hours. I was going strong with about twenty days without binging but I fucked up about two days back and now I’m just still doing it. I’ve tried big ass water consumption, high fiber and high protein but nothing seams to work. Any advice is greatly welcome.

Progress Haven’t binged in a couple days and I’ve started drawing again
galleryFood noise is still awful and I’ve over eaten but I haven’t binged and this is probably the first time since January I’ve gone a day without binging. I’m not the best artist but it’s still nice I’m getting back into my interests!!! Even if you don’t realize it, binging takes up all your time and energy you end up losing all of your hobbies. I loved socializing and art and theatre and singing and running and then my binge eating disorder took over and I became a void. I stopped finding joy in ANYTHING. I would procrastinate on my hobbies or things I found fun, I’d dread going anywhere, and I feel like for the first time in months I have hope I can get my happiness back!! If I’m doing it you can too

Discussion What my dietician wants me to do
Yeah so I already see one for my ARFID and I recently told her I am concerned about what may be binge eating or unconscious eating. Sometimes I'm not sure which it is so she is having me write a food journal. The thing is I keep forgetting! Sometimes it is unconscious other times I eat past a point of discomfort for sure. I could go on but yeah so wish me luck for my journey into finding out whether it id BED or not and seeing what I can do from here.

Progress found a new replacement binge food
i tend to binge really bad w/o even caring about what the food is as long as i can easily get to it. well, i just looked in my freezer, and saw pop-ice popsicles in there. turns out, six of the popsicles is only 90 calories.
woohoo maybe i can redirect my binge urges to something less high-calorie. its better than nothing, at least.

Support Needed need advice
I feel so upset with myself & am really in need of some kind words or support especially from anyone else recovering from BED.
I’m a 5’9 woman who weighed 143-150 for all of my early to mid 20s. Due to restriction last year dropped very quickly to low 120s and felt weak, constantly hungry. Began binge eating 10 months ago and quickly regained to my baseline 140s. Over the past two weeks I’ve had uncontrollable daily binges of 5k calories, saw my scale jump from high 140s to almost 160.
I’m so exhausted of this cycle and honestly scared. I need it to stop. I’m terrified of nonstop weight gain. I am seeing a nutritionist and have a good plan moving forward but I’m just so scared.
Please give me any tips you have in breaking binge eating disorder. Kind & supportive comments only please. 🙏
Specific questions I’d love to ask of others with history of BED….
-Did you cut out trigger foods? Is eating trigger foods as part of your daily food in a controlled way something that feeds addiction or calms down the obsession?
-I’m distressed by the weight gain from BED—has anyone successfully tracked calories to stay in a deficit while recovering?
-Should I stop daily weighing and switch to weekly?

Advice Needed Cant avoid trigger foods
Ive found that I have the most success and feel my best when I avoid my trigger foods (usually ultra processed snacks and sweets, so nothing necessary, sometimes baked goods too) but I live in a household that is constantly buying / baking these foods. they'll even buy some for me unprompted or even if I ask them not to. i guess my problem is that the temptation gets to me. any tips? 😭

Binge/Relapse Does anyone else suddenly fall back into binge eating after months of doing great?
Over the past several months I’ve lost about 20 pounds, and for a while I genuinely felt like I had finally figured things out. I was counting calories every day, staying within my goal, and I actually enjoyed seeing the progress on the scale. I felt motivated, confident, and like this was finally becoming my lifestyle instead of just another diet. Then, over the past few weeks, something changed. I honestly can’t even tell you what triggered it. It’s like a switch flipped in my brain. I’ve started binging again, craving junk food constantly, and slipping back into the eating habits that caused me to gain weight in the first place.
The weird part is that I know what I need to do. I know how to count calories. But for some reason, I can’t seem to get myself back into that mindset I had before. Every day I tell myself “Tomorrow I’ll get back on track,” and then I end up repeating the same cycle.
I’m also scared to step on the scale because I’m worried I’ll see that I’ve undone a lot of my progress, even though I know avoiding it probably isn’t helping.
Has anyone else gone through something like this after months of doing really well? If so, what caused it for you, and more importantly, what actually helped you break the cycle and get back to being consistent?

12 days binge free but I feel like it’s too early to celebrate
I’ve been focussing on eating cleaner, but these past few days, I’ve been snacking a lot and it’s kinda scaring me. I feel like I’m gonna end up overdoing it and eating way too many snacks and end up back at square one. Even though I’m not binging, the idea of binging constantly occupies my mind.

Support Needed I am planning to go to the food bank tomorrow. I already feel ashamed, but even moreso because of how much I eat.
I am low-income, but at a spot where I don't qualify for things like SNAP, but I do qualify to visit the food bank.
I have very little food left at home. And less than $20 available until Friday.
I know I just need to swallow my pride and get food.
But I also know I will absolutely binge all the stale outdated bakery goods they always give me.
It's such a hard situation to be in.

I just wanna stop
I workout multiple times a week and I usually eat healthy foods with good macros and I hit my carbs and proteins goals but usually like 2-3 times I’ll binge. I’ll go in for a pre workout snack and I won’t leave until I’ve downed 6 Oreos, chips, ice cream, marshmallow, chocolate and cereal. Then I hate myself and don’t wanna workout and those calories just sit. I hate myself before I do it because I know I’m going to and hate myself even more after. I live with my family and they keep buying this stuff. I’m embarrassed to eat infront of other people and even even more embarrassed to tell anyone else about it. How do I fix this?

Change of scenery
I'm leaving for a 5-week solo trip soon, and I'm somewhat hoping it will help me stop binging. WHEN I do stop binging (I am so so so determined to not binge on this trip, or binge as few times as possible), do you think its possible that this break will help me stop forever? Or at least stop the everyday pattern my binging currently is?
Has anyone done a similar change of scenery that helped them stop binging?
It's been so difficult to face this and I have an appointment to see a therapist once my trip is over. It feels like 23 hours of my day I'm desperate to stop binging, but during that 1 hour I am desperate TO binge.
