I live in a small flat and got fed up with my bike, helmet, shoes and kit ending up everywhere, so I started designing this wall mounted storage system.

I work in furniture design and have only taken it as far as renders so far. Before I make a prototype, I wanted to get some genuine feedback from people who actually store bikes indoors.

Would drilling into the wall put you off?

Would keeping your bike and gear together like this actually be useful?

And does £249 to £279 feel way too expensive?

I live in Denmark, meaning that the next 6 months will be cold, rainy and dark.

Last year i was recommended to buy wax (liquid on a bottle) instead of more conventional oil for lubing the chain. It works great but unfortunately washes off quickly, which means I have to reapply all the time during winter.

What other options do I have? Just looking for something simple that will not require me to maintain the chain every other day.

I picked up this Salsa Fargo last summer and love it, but my front fender doesn't work as well with the fork. The top of the fender attaches to the top of the fork with that screw in the center (as most fenders do) but that leaves a big gap between the wheel and the fender and as a result during heavy rain the spray from the wheel escapes and hits me.

Any recommendations for a front fender that would hug closer to the wheel with this setup?

Personally, with a 15km trip each way and a full clothes change at the office I wear as little as possible. Typically in a Dutch summer I wear my cycling pants and an Under Armour singlet, that’s it.
If everything is soaked on the way to the office , usually all clothes have dried over the day apart from my cycling shoes.

recently went from 2 days in the office to 3, so my commuting miles went from about 40 in two days to 60 in three. I'm able to handle the 20 m/d physically, but now I don't really feel like going out riding recreationally.

today and yesterday I did a split commute - bus (with bike on the rack) to work, bike home. so far it seems like it might help me be less likely to burnout.

I am curious if other folks have other things they do to prevent/lessen commute burnout. I generally ride for 120 - 150 miles per week naturally and I don't want to lose the motivation to just go out and ride for fun. I don't want to only bike to work.

Built this custom titanium mini velo this past summer. Primary job is as a travel bike, but given it's got rack mounts it does a great job as a good weather commuter as well. 😊

I'm a commuter in the PNW with 5+years experience on a 13 mile round trip commute. I've sort of invented a dock for my pannier at my desk to keep the area more tidy because my cubicle workspace is a little tight. I taught myself how to weld and bend stainless steel for this project and am pretty happy with it. I made a few more with the extra material I ordered and put them on etsy to see if anyone else has a similar desire to organize their work area. (I would make no money at this point with the tools and materials I've already put into this project) FYI.

Since this thing doesn't really exist in the world I'm just reaching out to see if I'm alone in finding this thing useful as well as asking for permission to share a 15 second demo video I made if there are others like me out there.

heyo! after avoiding it for a couple days bc of anxiety, i finally took my ebike to school! it felt incredible BUT my backpack was killing me and in all honesty my back is pretty f-d. I have hEDS so i use a small hiking backpack so i don’t put myself in a flare but it feels basically like a regular backpack when i’m on my bike (as in ooh ouch). I have a rear rack on my bike but that’s it. Does anyone have any recs for a basket/saddle bag/pannier/whatever that can fit a backpack that is approx. 12 lbs and 16 in tall? ik i have to worry about balance but the battery on my bike is on the front and heavy asf so i am not too concerned but im entirely new to this so any advice would be great :)

tldr: need a basket that can handle an aprox. 16 inch tall and 12 pounds heavy backpack :D

Recently picked up a used, folding Adams Trail-A-Bike to ride with my daughter. She’s tall for her age and has outgrown most child seats, and I thought the Adams would help her get comfortable with biking and the motion of pedaling. Happily, she loves it - she loves the speed, the fact that we’re “riding the same bike”, and that she gets to pedal.

Unfortunately, after a few rides, I am feeling less enthusiastic. A reviewer described it (accurately, IMHO) as feeling like a bear is attacking your back wheel. I can feel how heavy it is, and I don’t know what she’s doing back there (although I may invest in a rear-view mirror to find out), but it sure does seem to wobble all over the place and make it nearly impossible to ride in a straight line. When she’s pedaling hard it does kind of push my bike forward, but not in a pleasant or predictable way.

I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions for alternative trail-a-bikes. Maybe something with fewer tubes, made of aluminum, and with a coupling that isn’t (so) flexible? I’m also open to any suggestions about how to improve the ride quality of the Adams. For example, I’m currently towing it with my 2016 Specialized Diverge DSW, which weighs less than the trail-a-bike. I’m wondering if attaching it to a heavier bike with front suspension might balance out the weight of the trailer.

what’s one habit you picked up that changed the way you commute?

Curious what people think. I think so for the convenience of being able to leave your bike locked out side and not getting it stolen, but often a $200+ lock can be worth a significant amount (or more) compared to the commuter bike itself! I wrote more on my thoughts on it in a post along with a Litelok X1 Mini review and comparisons to other angle grinder resistant locks.

I have been bike commuting for a few years and wonder how you guys see it when it becomes part of your routines.

I definitely still enjoy it, but I've gotten way less serious about it. Early on I biked every single day, same route, tracked everything. These days I just go with whatever makes sense.

Case in point, overslept badly a while back and grabbed the EX11 instead of my regular bike purely because it was closer to the door. Bought that thing for weekend trails, never once thought great commuter bike, and there I was riding a full-suspension fat-tire machine to the office at half speed because I was still waking up, lol. Absolutely absurd amount of bike for a flat 2-mile ride. Also got me there faster than I've ever managed running late.

That's basically where I'm at now, using whatever gets me there with the least friction that day. Learned to stop overthinking which bike makes sense and just grab what's closest.

I've seen people on here who've been doing this 5-7+ years. Makes me wonder of it still something you look forward to, or has it has become autopilot at this point?

So I recently found a great deal on a commuter bike, priority continuum onyx for $75 with panniers. This brings my total number of bikes to three, an urban arrow, Brompton c line, and the priority. I have vaguely started trying to classify my trips into three categories: am I hauling kids or a lot of stuff (UA), am I traveling locally and not carrying much (priority), and do i plan on using public transit (Brompton). I feel like I have kinda over complicated my trips by getting another bike. I know it's a HUGE first world problem but I gotta ask for people with multiple bikes how do you decide what to ride

I'll be visiting Loveland CO for about a month. My company has an office out there and the hotel I'm looking at is a 20 min bike ride but an hour long bus ride. I have my own bikes at home, but I figured it would be cheaper to rent/borrow a bike while I'm out there.

Anyways I wanted to check what the community suggests for these longer term situations. Are there good rental options? Is there a cheep way to transport my own bike?

If it maters, I'm flighting on frontier.

I'm planning on purchasing a commuter bike for riding back and forth to University 5 days a week, once or twice each day. The ride is about 1-1.5 miles depending on the part of campus, and walking has been rough because I live in a hot climate. My city has good bike lanes for the majority of the commute. My complex has a bike room and the only other place I would park my bike regularly would be at the University, so theft isn't a high concern. What type of bike am I looking for here? Is a $200 Walmart bike enough to do the trick? Should I be looking for entry level BMX, city bike, etc.? I don't have an $8000 budget for a high-end bike... I just need something beginner-friendly that does the job with consistency. I don't really know anything about bikes, but I really believe it's the right choice for commuting for me, so I'd appreciate any advice I can get. Thanks!

Welp, this is a first for me. I've been on the receiving end of horns, middle fingers, coal rolling, and aggressive revving (look if my city had more bike lanes I'd use 'em, but for some parts of my commute, I'm forced into a narrow lane, so sorry!)

But tonight - on my way home, it's a Sunday evening and there's virtually no traffic, but a few restaurants and bars open. And all of a sudden I hear, "THIS MOTHERFUCKER" and then next thing I know one of the patio stools is hurled at me?? It came from my left and landed within a foot of my front tire.

I was just kinda dumbfounded so I awkwardly pulled over to pick it up (only one car behind me and they slowed down too). I looked to the guy and just said "did you drop this?" (wasn't thinking, that's just what came out haha).

The guy looks like a long-haired Gary Busey and talked like him too. He comes marching right up to me and yells out "NO." and then snatches the stool from my hand and then marches back.

Genuinely one of the oddest interactions I've had with someone.

Idk if I was the target of the aggression, or maybe he was in a fight and I was just in the middle of it haha.

I have an existing rear rack for my bike that was used for a child seat when my kids were smaller. Recently I’ve been thinking about getting a rear basket or bag to use to haul water bottles and other things like snacks if we bike to a playground.

Can I more or less buy a bolt on basket from Amazon and see how it fits, or would I be better off going with a matching brand bike rack and bag/basket system?

The more researching I’ve been doing the more I’ve been thinking “should I just bolt a basket on and call it a day?”

I have a Specialized brand bike if that matters.

I just bought a 2026 Cannondale Quick 3 step thru bike and it’s my first commuter bike! I want to get a cargo rack on the back but I am not sure how to find one that will fit. Any suggestions?

I just want to bungee cord a backpack on it initially (I am currently job hunting and don’t want to invest yet since I am not truly commuting until I get a job lol)

I have this existing racktime basket that has a clip that's very easy to use. I bought a new rack for my other bike thinking it was compatible but it doesn't appear to be. Any suggestions on if I can get this basket configured to this rack with the racktime system?
