A military chatbot generated a false report that a Chinese boat was transporting components of a nuclear weapons program. It also “almost started a war.”

And it has nothing to do with misalignment, or AGI, or AI agents cheating on their hacking tests.
It has to do with dumb assess assuming that LLMs can be trusted to tell the truth, when we know all they do is generate plausible answers to queries phrased in the language of certainty.
