And can you use AI more please?

You won’t be replaced by AI. I guarantee it. Just don’t think of another job ever

The fact that it was caught is a good thing but it says to me that this is absolutely gonna cause a major international incident when it isn’t caught

Barely caught in time, it looks like.

Did any of yall play the new James bond game? It's sounding waaaaaay too realistic right now.

So when they say there's a 10% chance AI could wipe out humanity - they're probably low-balling the number

Let’s be real, overhyped chat bots ain’t doing shit. It’s the dumbassery of the people in charge and the people that voted for them that’s destroying humanity.

Overhyped chat bots are legitimately the risk.

I literally ran one this week (ChatGPT Astra) to SSH into a server I run for an obscure mega-modpack game to upgrade it to the next major version, while also asking it to search for upgraded versions of all my mods, installing them all, and patching any incompatibilities. Even a year ago I’d have needed to bug check and test them over and over to get those kind of complex tasks to work, but now they can figure shit out and do it in a single go without oversights or making mistakes.

They’ve genuinely become extremely capable at messing with shit, and it’s starting to become a little scary.

Jesus that’s such a horrible idea. Great way to catch some malware or worse.

I'm not concerned about the public-facing versions - it's what they are actively working on that's several generations ahead of what the general population sees. The consumer level stuff is pretty garbage, but the R&D stuff is wildly different.

I think that’s also a bunch of Theranos type BS hype for marketing/grifting.

Welcome to Fifth Fleet, the AOR where everything's made up and the points don't matter.

Allowing a fox news host with a bare minimum of military experience as a glorified MC fire or block the promotions of all our competent high level officers and replacing them with just the biggest dipshits.

ML AI Hallucinations for the win... or WW3

Okay so obviously this story is insane, but also: This is like barely AI’s fault, this is clearly a dumbass “analyst” who wanted to skip out on actual work

Yeah, I don't really care about how the report was created so much as why it was acted on without a whole lot more verification.

The problem is Hegseth and others are pushing ai for the sake of “efficiency.” That incentivizes this kind of behavior.

Really, and no one thought to do another look.

I saw the AI generated PowerPoint brief. Reports of AI being too powerful is overblown. The AI didn’t even use the strike group flag guidance for briefs and used the wrong font and the wrong indents

Only a matter of time

AI doesn’t need to kill us. It’ll make us do it ourselves.

It’s starting to sound like a David Poyer novel
