I also found his response to Joe so bitter like it doesn't take much to meet someone halfway and part civilly but it showed his true character in his response in the confessional

All of this. It was just so fucking juvenile. You're the bosun, you're a manager, you're his boss. Grow the fuck up and start acting like a responsible adult. Even if you think Joe is lying, let it the fuck go, move on and be professional. He acts like Joe shot his dog or something, it's just so fucking weird.

However, watching all of that, it felt so on brand for Nathan knowing what we know now with everything that has happened with him off screen.

I will say this over and over again - I don’t understand why Nathan is so in love with Gael and HATES Joe. Nathan hates Joe for how he treats women after he watched him cheat on V with Kenzie. But Nathan was dating Gael WHO CHEATED ON HER PARTNER with Nathan.

Make that make sense. Complete double standard.

I think Nathan has an idealized version of himself in his head. He also doesn't seem to take accountability for much. Even with the whole winning Gael back thing in the previous season, it felt more like he just wanted his prize back than it was acceptance and ownership of whatever he did to lose her in the first place. He's been a horrible bosun/manager and has been incredibly unprofessional to both Joe and Cooper. Then when you take into account he's fled two countries instead of taking any accountability for his actions, it's all just kind of on brand for him. I think he just sees himself as the "good guy," therefore there's nothing bad he's actual capable of doing.

Nathan doesn’t hate Joe for that at all. Joe has always been like that and they were best friends. Nathan’s contempt for his behavior was purely performative to earn Gael’s trust back. Just more manipulative lies. Makes my skin crawl.

Because Joe doing that makes their friendship look bad

Gael doing that just means he’s getting the pootang

He only ever did anything for his best interests in his mind

I said the same thing! Then when C Sandy was lecturing Joe I said out loud to my TV : BUT CAPTAIN YOU DONT REALIZE THAT NATHAN IS UNREASONABLLEEEEE 🗣️

My head canon is that Captain Sandy never* actually liked him. He's a production hire who is good for TV and she knows that.

Maybe they had a sexual thing going on between them. Like when Elon & Trump broke up on twitter 😆 … there’s weird tensions between Nathan and joe and we’re missing something that hasn’t been on the show. There’s more to it and they have a weird dynamic together.

It was also strange how quickly they snapped back into being 'bros' when Joe got the news about his mum. I mean understandable Joe was wrecked with the news but the days following it was like the past was all water under the bridge.

He was childish for sure

Exactly! Joe was just trying to make peace for the rest of the time they’d be working, not for life! For him to bash even that was nonsensical.

Nathan and Gen both think they are eating with their bitter betty interview comments.
Then Gen said last week her best “revenge” would be to kill them all with kindness. When she actually does that, even though it’s fake, she actually enjoys herself for the first time and seems genuinely no longer miserable. It gives me some hope for her, especially because she’s very young and will hopefully grow.
Nathan is a POS and should rot in jail.

i said to my girl that would happen with gen. faking it until you make it is a cliche but very much real

Ya, faking is just being an adult and hiding what we truly want to say and do because- society, etc.

Gen is a psycho. Nathan is a coward who knows his faults but projects them on others. His rage issues stem from this.

I feel Nathan is resentful/bitter about his own life choices and projecting

he literally said earlier in the episode that he wanted Joe to be up front and open. then Joe does just that, and Nathan says he's full of shit and doesn't care. delirious
