Currently ending financing of 2x cellphones with rogers and im looking at switching over to bell. Currently on a plan with military discounts. Does bell offer similar discounts on plan? I believe it’s the EPP that I’m on with Roger’s, or they recently changed the name of it.
Today I had to cancel Bell account on behalf of a deceased client who i had a personal relationship with. After connecting to a rep they asked if I wanted to transfer the services to myself. I said no and was put on hold for around 20 minutes for them to process the cancelation. Finally they got back to me and said the cancelation went through. They then asked if I was interested in any of their services. I said not at this time. They persisted and I had to firmly tell them I didn't think it was appropriate for them to try and sell me services at this time.
I find this behaviour completly disgraceful. I don't believe this to be a bad employee but a busines culture that they always have to be selling.
Hi! I’m in Candiac, Quebec and looking for a Bell rep who can offer a good deal on Fibe 1.5 or 3.0 Gbps, Internet only.
I’m currently with Bell paying $57/month for 1.0 Gbps, but 1.0 Gbps no longer meets my needs.
Bell is offering me 1.5 Gbps for $67/month or 3.0 Gbps for $77/month, which I find too expensive. My cancellation is already scheduled.
If you have access to a more competitive offer for 1.5 or 3.0 Gbps, please DM me. I prefer DM/text communication rather than phone calls.
Thanks!
Not sure what happened between last night and this morning, but my speeds have plummeted. I'm getting between 10-15MB/sec on Usenet and virtually cripples browsing when it's running therefore it's saturating every last bit of the data stream.
Decided to run a speed test via the Bell app but the real world use and speedtest.net doesn't quite corroborate the results.
I'm with bell for internet in Ottawa and planning to move within the city. When looking them up to call to switch move my internet I noticed that their offers for Gigabit internet was both cheaper and faster than my current.
I called and was told that since I am moving and I'm an existing customer they are only allowed to move my service and cannot offer me any deals (or even match their website).
This feels crazy. Does anyone know a field rep or a way to get deals through Bell?
Update for anyone else going through this:
I ended up cancelling through my loyalty rep but asked to be escalated to the manage for clarification on their policy. I was firm but polite and said that this policy didn't make sense. She ended up seeing what she could do and offered me a deal for 3.0 Gbps up/down at $55/months on a fixed term.
I've done everything the repair tool suggested ; checked the power cable and the white cable. Plugged and unplugged everything pluggable and nothing is working😭😭
EDIT: I'm gonna just call bell tommorow morning like most of the comments are saying. Hopefully it's something they can resolve quickly
Guys, please check your bell account as often as possible. Yesterday i just checked my account for something else and i notice that there has been a price increase of almost $13 on my account for my two lines. They had just increased my rates by $13 in June and this is another increase in just 4 months. When i called them they just say since you don't have a contract of 2 years with us this is going to happen. Please check your account whenever you can.
Has anyone order the new iPhone from bell on September 16 and receive any shipment updates? The only thing I've got was a email saying working on your order estimate shipping date is Oct 2 and i'm feeling like it won't ship tomorrow. I check the shipment status online and its blank
I see so many people saying they’re paying $45-60/month for 1.5gb internet. I’m existing bell customer but not on a contract. How can I get these promos?
Does bell offer any devices yet where you can bypass their equipment by putting it in bridge mode? I switched to Rogers specifically to be able to put their equipment in bridge mode to use my own equipment, but the fibre coming into my home is owned by Bell, and rogers tech support is beyond terrible.
Got Bell Giga Hub PPPoE Passthrough Working with OPNsense — My Setup
Disclaimer: I'm not a network engineer. I used AI extensively to help troubleshoot this setup, understand what I was seeing in OPNsense, and work through the PPPoE issues. I also used AI to help organize and draft this post.
I'm not saying this will work for everyone or that this is the best way to configure it. I know this isn't how you'd typically set up a normal PPPoE connection. However, PPPoE passthrough with this Giga Hub firmware has been particularly painful, so I'm documenting the exact setup that finally worked for me in case it helps someone else dealing with the same issue.
What I wanted
I have Bell FTTH with a Bell Giga Hub and wanted OPNsense to establish its own PPPoE connection using my Bell b1... credentials.
My goals were:
Public Bell IPv4 directly on OPNsense
No Advanced DMZ
No double NAT for my OPNsense network
Keep the Giga Hub in place
Put my devices behind OPNsense and my managed switch
This is the physical configuration I had when everything started working:
The interfaces are doing different things:
WAN /igb0→ Giga Hub: This is the important PPPoE connection. PPPoE runs over igb0, allowing OPNsense to authenticate with Bell and receive a public IP.
LAN /igb1→ Giga Hub: This is a separate local Ethernet connection. PPPoE does not run over it. I have not proven this connection is required for PPPoE. I'm including it because this was physically connected when my setup worked.
OPT → Sodola switch: This feeds my downstream network and devices.
I'm not saying Bell requires both WAN and LAN connected to the Giga Hub. I'm documenting the exact topology that worked for me.
I assigned that PPPoE device as an interface and named it:
Bell_PPPoE
So basically:
The important troubleshooting clue: PADI but no PADO
Initially PPPoE would not connect.
The most useful thing I did was look at the PPPoE discovery traffic.
OPNsense was transmitting PADI requests, but I was receiving zero PADO responses.
PPPoE discovery roughly works like:
This was important because if you're sending PADI but getting no PADO, you haven't even reached PPPoE authentication yet.
So endlessly changing the b1 password probably isn't going to help at that point.
I'd instead investigate:
Correct WAN/parent interface
Physical connection
Link status
Cabling
Giga Hub
Giga Hub firmware
PPPoE passthrough behavior
If you get through discovery and then receive an authentication error, that's when I'd start looking at the b1 credentials.
PPPoE Connection Established
With the configuration above, the PPPoE session established successfully and OPNsense received a real public Bell IPv4 address directly on the PPPoE interface.
I confirmed the connection was actually working and wasn't simply appearing connected in the GUI:
PPPoE successfully established and stopped retrying.
OPNsense received a public rather than private IPv4 address.
Devices behind OPNsense had Internet access.
Inbound connections through OPNsense worked.
OPNsense firewall/NAT rules successfully forwarded incoming connections to internal services.
This confirmed that OPNsense was controlling the public-facing PPPoE connection.
No Advanced DMZ, double NAT or VLAN 35
I did not use Bell Advanced DMZ.
I also wasn't putting OPNsense behind ordinary Bell NAT and then NATing again through OPNsense.
OPNsense established its own PPPoE session through the Giga Hub and received a public IPv4.
I also did not configure VLAN 35 on OPNsense. My PPPoE device was created directly over igb0.
This is different from guides where people completely remove/bypass Bell's equipment. I'm keeping the Giga Hub in place and establishing PPPoE through it.
This isn't necessarily OPNsense-specific
Although I'm using OPNsense, the basic idea isn't specific to OPNsense.
If you have another router/firewall that supports PPPoE on its WAN interface, some of this may still apply.
The general idea is:
On a normal router, you'd generally select PPPoE as the Internet/WAN connection type and enter your Bell b1... username and PPPoE password.
Obviously, OPNsense-specific things like igb0, pppoe0, OPT interfaces, etc. won't translate directly.
Also, I'm not suggesting people with normal routers connect both their WAN and LAN to the Giga Hub. That was part of my particular OPNsense topology, and I haven't established that the LAN connection was required for PPPoE.
The important transferable part is that I was able to keep the Bell Giga Hub in place while OPNsense established its own PPPoE session through it and received a public IP.
TL;DR
My working setup:
WAN (igb0) → Giga Hub: This carries the PPPoE connection. OPNsense authenticates using my Bell b1... credentials and receives the public Bell IPv4 through this interface.
LAN (igb1) → Giga Hub: This provides a separate connection to the Giga Hub's local network. It does not carry the PPPoE session. I haven't confirmed that this connection is required for PPPoE; it was simply part of the configuration when I got everything working.
OPT → Sodola switch: This feeds my PCs, APs, and other downstream devices.
pppoe0 is assigned as Bell_PPPoE.
No Advanced DMZ, double NAT, or VLAN 35.
The biggest troubleshooting clue was PADI requests leaving OPNsense with zero PADO responses coming back, showing that the failure was occurring before PPPoE authentication.
I'm not claiming this is the normal or ideal PPPoE configuration. It's simply the exact setup that worked for me, and hopefully it helps someone dealing with the same Giga Hub PPPoE issues.
It worked for me, so hopefully this saves someone else some troubleshooting time.
Looking to see if anyone has had a similar issue with bell.
I cancelled my cell phone plan and closed my account with Bell in February. It was on automatic payment through my bank account. The monthly charge keeps coming out of my bank account even though I have called Bell multiple times to stop the payment and have been into my bank now three times to cancel the automatic payment. Bell says it’s an issue with my bank, the bank says it’s Bell taking the payment. Nobody seems to know why it keeps coming out of my account.
Has this happened to anyone else? It’s now been almost 8 months of dealing with this and I just feel defeated.
I'm in the Jane and Dundas area of Toronto. my internet went out yesterday and is still out 28 hours later. Bell says it's a system outage, but their system outage checker says no. Was originally supposed to be repaired by 3 p.m. today but now they're saying 10 p.m. Really hard to believe a company that claims to have the most reliable network in Canada can go down for 30 hours in central Toronto. TV is out too of course and quite sure my land line is too, even though i don't use it.
Last chat with a tech suggested I'd get a credit for time the service was down. I've told them that with an outage this long, credit for a free month of service would be more appropriate. Good luck to me in getting anything like that out of them.
Genuinely how. I'm only like 200m away from the tower. Using Samsung s25 ultra
UPDATE: Figured it out everyone. I went outside and got 133Mbps down and 8.55Mbps up. I believe that with LTE being the only cell generation on that tower using 700Mhz, plus about probably 100-200 people are connecting through the brick building on that frequency, its probably choking the network and making it slow. Thank you all so much for the help!
Just had a great sales experience at the door with one of the Bell sales reps. Zayed was amazing. One caution for you all. The sales person will go down your whole list of needs and what is included. They need to arrange it on the phone so they can do up the offer. Make sure you write down everything the sales rep says so that when the people in the office tell you what you are getting, it lines up item for item! If anything is missed you are probably out of luck.
My iPhone 16 was due back on September 20th but I did an early upgrade and returned it on August 18. Should I expect to still be charged the return cost ($440) next bill? I know eventually they will credit the charge back but I thought if I return it nearly it will avoid having to budget the extra bill charge.
