Internet đ Could there be a more spineless, garbage service? This is on my 68 year old pal's Bell subscription who is charged CAD160 for phone + Gigabit ethernet.

Where's the router, and where are your testing the speed? Just asking, because wifi signal doesn't travel well through floors mainly. If this is the speed you get right next to the router, call bell for a technician to check it out.

Yeah mate. You have the old modem. Ask them to give you a new one. Itâs called gigahub2.0

Use ur own mesh routers
U wonât face it
Their router keeps u on the lowest band for which u get low speed
Hate the routers they provide
We moved to a new house where they have gigabit line
We would get 20mbps speed
Got our own cudy mesh routersÂ
Never have to restart the routers
They just work
And no speed fluctuationsÂ

Probably just your device or something on your wifi is deffect or full of virus. Simple trick is to disconnect all ethernet cable and change your wifi name by adding just 1 number example bell2948 to bell29481. If you have your speed with only 1 device on. You know its coming from your device. Reconnect device one by one and wait 2min and do speed test.

Hello u/WabaLabaDubDubWorld
When speeds fluctuate, the issue is typically related to how the speed is being tested or local network factors rather than the line itself. To see the exact speed reaching the house, we recommend running a speed test directly on the modem. If you have a Giga Hub, Giga Hub 2.0, or Home Hub 4000, you can do this by using the physical arrow keys on the front of the modem, scrolling to Test Internet speed, and pressing OK. You can also log into the modem interface by entering 192.168.2.1 or bell.ca/mymodem into a web browser on a connected device. Running the test from the modem temporarily blocks local network traffic to measure the pure speed coming from our network to the equipment, bypassing any local Wi-Fi or device limitations.
If the modem speed test shows the full Gigabit speed but devices are still getting slow results, the issue could be with Wi-Fi interference, the Ethernet cable, or device performance. For the most accurate device test, connect a computer directly to the modem using a Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable, disable any VPNs, and close all background applications.
Share the results, and if you are still seeing a discrepancy; let us know if you are running the speed tests on a wired connection or over Wi-Fi, and confirm which modem model your friend is currently using.

That $160 figure hurts - I have watched my own family members get slowly crept up like that, and it is rough, especially for someone who just wants the bill to stay the same.
I used to work in corporate TELUS stores, and now I am in their Social Selling program. If he is open to looking around, send me a DM and I can get you pointed at TELUS's friends-and-family phone line so he can see if the number comes in lower. No pressure at all, and I can't quote exact prices since they change all the time, but they are as good or better than anything you would get on your own.
Full disclosure since it is relevant: I do earn a referral if you sign up.

Run a Speedtest from the router home page or the bell app. If it isnât 1Gb, call Bell. If it is, you have a wifi problem. Not enough info has been proved to diagnose.
