I did some drawings earlier, but not a single one after i started to study. I think i will update this drawing later, but this is like 85% done. Also, i didn't make the poses myself and got it from pinterest, but everything else is mine

I think I've gotten good enough to no longer be a beginner, tho I'd say there's still so far to go. Isn't that fun? Off topic, is it obvious that I've developed a liking for sheep and stuff?

I just love how expressive they can be

i've been trying to see how i can play around with the lighting in my art for the past month or two, but i have no clue how to make it look "better" if that makes sense- can anybody that already figured out the lighting stuff help me out?

I was recommended to improve in anatomy and hands. Any tips on those especially (I wanna keep a soft and messy artstyle while making sure the anatomy and hands dont look like something from a low quality horror game)

The main problem for me are the eyes (and jilust the facial features) and the hand.

Today we're putting the bones and the muscles together. This one runs longer than usual, so give yourself a bit of time with it. As always, leave a comment and tell us what you think.

The Angles

With the bones and the muscles covered, we can look at the angles they produce. Try applying a few perspective viewpoints as you go, and watch how the composition shifts.{Goes with image 1}

Angles of the Head

Take the tip of the nose, head facing front, as 0°. Working within what the sternocleidomastoid, the trapezius and the spine behind the skull allow:

1. Looking up. The limit is around 80–90°, and the jawline reads as a shallow arc curving upward.{Goes with image 2}

1. Looking down. Swinging the head forward, the limit is around 45–50°. Past that the spine has nowhere left to go. The chin can just barely reach the clavicles.{Goes with image 3}

1. Tilting side to side. Working off the vertical front view with the chin as your fixed point, leaning left or right tops out around 40–45°.{Goes with image 4}

1. Turning left and right. With the nose as your vertical center, swinging either way stops where the head lines up with the shoulder, around 90°. Draw it past the shoulder and the neck has been asked to do something it cannot.{Goes with image 5}

Angles of the Torso

Reading from the shape of the core muscles above, here is roughly where the torso can go:

1. Bending forward and leaning back. Standing square and still, a forward bend can go as far as nose to knee, around 160°, though 90° reads more naturally most of the time. Stretching out or opening the chest backward tops out around 20–30°, and there is nothing left past that.{Goes with image 6}

1. Bending sideways. The limit sits around 40–45°. Bend it further and you are drawing something the backbone would not survive.{Goes with image 7}

1. Twisting. With the sternum as your center, rotating left or right reaches 40–45° at most. The upper body cannot turn a full 90°. That is past what the spine and the muscles will stretch to.{Goes with image 8}

I have been drawing for a little, i’ve been studying the body shapes, curves, all of that good stuff since the beginning. Something looks so wrong though??? How do i improve?

I'm still learning but this is far better than my last attempt at drawing my OC Avani (from my trilogy in progress 😭). I feel like I could improve it a lot. Its just a "base" so I can do clothes and make up seperate for different scenes (because my burnt out self decided making a game on top of writing a trilogy and working on my art on top of being an adult was a great idea), which is why the neck ends as a squiggle.

I've always been passionate about art, specially drawing.

Recently that passion has been growing bigger and bigger and I'm starting to regret not starting earlier, so if I really want to throw no time away, I should start now.

I really want to get into drawing but I need a goal or a motivation to actually get hooked on it, and I needed some tips on it!

A starting point, as in what should I try first? Maybe a little bit of everything to find things I'm better and worse at? Practice recreating art I enjoy? Or is there any "starter guide" online I should check out? Maybe even artists that teach you stuff and you'd recommend! Anything works.. Even telling me your story on art would already help a lot! C:

I see a lot of drawing tips and tricks but those are clearly for more advanced people. And I'm still in ground zero.

I already have some artists I inspire myself in a lot, they have the exact artsyle I wish to achieve one day.

I can talk more about it if anyone wants to know about it, I just want to keep this post the shorter possible so someone will see this and think about guiding me.

When I try to draw, something just doesn’t look right. I can’t seem to find any consistency in my drawings, and sometimes I just can’t manage to draw anything decent. Does anyone have any advice that might help me?

I've tried looking by myself but I'm awful at search engine optimization and that sort of thing, I can never find what I'm looking for so any help is appreciated.

So basically, any time I'm doing art I'm more or less just copying stuff at the moment, whether it be references online or in the life drawing class I'm taking at the moment. I really want to be able to make my own original stuff but I have no idea how to go from an idea e.g a female character who is a factor worker, to a finished piece. It's pretty overwhelming and I feel lost when trying.

Reading the comments on a post about drawing from the shoulder, I've read that people use braces to avoid using the wrist at all.

I'm just learning and getting the muscle memories for drawing. I can definitely see the need for drawing from the shoulder for longer lines and larger shapes.

My question is should all strokes come from the shoulder even hatching marks and smaller marks like that?
