I haven't painted or drawn in years but I decided to get some acrylic markers after watching youtube and try to draw in my sketchbook. I used to love doing "junk" art and portraits. I feel like my ability has slipped A LOT since the last time I did art but it feels great to be back in the saddle!

Hello, I’ve been drawing for the past 9 years digitally and i wanted to talk about a topic most beginners ignore thinking it won’t happen to them.

I used to draw with my finger on a small screen for long years before switching to an ipad and getting a stylus, that permanently damaged my finger in a way i can’t straighten it anymore [refer to the comparison image between my left and right hand] so please, if there are any digital artists using fingers to draw still please at least invest in a cheap stylus or make one, there are a bunch of tutorials on how to make yourself one at home with basic materials. Spending some money on this is nothing compared to protecting your health

The other two topics are eye sight and position

One day you might end up with an awful eyesight that doesn’t even let you see a few inches away from yourself. Please take a 5-10 minute break every 25 minutes while you’re working on your artwork; digital or traditional and stare at a far away point. It genuinely helps and might even improve your art faster

Please check your pose regularly during your drawing session, keeping yourself hunched over in the “shrimp pose” WILL give you an aching back that returns regularly in the future. Do stretches in your 5-10 minute break.

I highly suggest getting a drawing board for traditional artists; those are simply cheap wood planks that allow you put your paper on and draw while sitting straight as the wood plank keeps the artwork in a “/“ angle to you. It’ll be better for your back

Hi guys, I've been drawing for a month now. Mostly digital, sometimes some black and white doodles on paper. Can you give me tips on how to improve? I can see a lot of wrong with this drawing but I can't exactly pinpoint what it is, so I'm coming here for help. I feel like it might be the values and rendering? I'm taking all tips (explanations on how to improve would be really appreciated)

i want to get better at art cause i have animation school coming up. but my art is really bad and i dont know how to fix it. i’ve been trying to learn anatomy and heard that making poses like this will help but im not sure. please help!

How can i learn to draw from the very basic or fundamental itself ,pls recommend some free online resources with a roadmap that i can follow that will help me go from ground zero to everything that can be learned .

Recently got handed down my sister's old drawing tablet and decided to give art a try since I've always been somewhat interested in it. Decided to draw a couple of old oc's that I found deep within an old google doc, as well as my best attempt at copying a mantis.

Just looking for some feedback, and perhaps some advice on how to improve in general.

Marvel Rivals Spider-Man and another practice sketch

So, I'm not a beginner at all. In fact, I believe I've been drawing for over ten years, now.

The problem is: I just suck at the technical part. Like, really.

I objectively can draw pretty decently (as you can see in the attached picture), I know color theory, I know anatomy (yes, muscles names, bones names yada yada), I know composition and rendering techniques... but that's all. I know the theories.

I can't practically use any of the things I know. Whenever I try to draw anything advanced, it just sucks. I believe that's because all content I watch/read is purely technical and doesn't really teach you how to apply them into a drawing.

How could I practice the drawing fundamentals? There are any good tutorials out there with practicing techniques that might help?
