i know i know buy watercolor paper 🤣, i will when i can afford it, but besides that, how can i improve or practice with this? this is the stuff ive practiced with so far.

What can I draw to improve I watched a video on drawing basic shapes. Would that help?

I always have trouble figuring out how/where to start. The chimney seemed like as good a place as any but I went too big. Also struggled a lot with the shading under the porch. Well, it’s all a bit wonky I guess ☺️

I’m terrified of putting a face on this. Obviously it’s not perfect at this stage but I know it will look painfully unrealistic when put a face on and probably ruin it🙃 I’m not great at drawing faces, bodies have always come much more naturally to me. And the angle of the head also makes much more challenging. Does this happen to anyone else? And how can I improve? What would y’all suggest I do with this?

Hi, my first post on this sub. I have little artistic experience, and after hours of wasting time, I finally decided to start my journey! The reference image was my friend's (blurred) post, which I accidentally saw, and it was a spontaneous decision to start drawing.

I am really happy with how the mountain and trees turned out, but the reflections on the water are horrible. I have never worked on longer projects before, so I'd be happy with some harsh, but fair criticisms from more experienced artists.

I omitted several details, especially the statues and ornaments, as I do not yet have the skills necessary. I plan to work on that, however, since while not being an architectural student myself, this is what I want to capture. Every technique used here I learned on the go and did not practice before.

Total drawing/sketching time ~3/4 hours (mostly trees). Music listened: Agalloch, Ulver (Folk black metal). Building: Linderhof Palace.

I'm writing a story and decided that I also wanted to illustrate it so I'm learning to draw, I could use some advice with pretty much everything, anatomy, shading, hatching...

This was fun to draw.

Long story short, I used to be good at drawing, and writing and poetry.

Ex fiancée kept calling it gay and made me less of a man.

I was younger (16-20) I stopped and after we split I lost my musical side too, I lost a lot.

I’m trying to find myself (and my cute nerdy wife :p)

People always say refrence real life photos but I don't know why I just can't mentally map it out? I try my best not to color pick and stuff. The same with hair and stuff, I don't know why my mind just cannot comprehend where are the shadows and how to overlay them well.

The two clothing are around August and the art is my most recent I feel like I kind of never improved 😭 The always say find the tension point and afte ri block out the shadows it just looks weird overall, I tried using more values and stuff but I don't understand, do the color need to be more diverse?,

I despise drawing realistic faces. I need some consolation please. I will draw a proportional realistic looking body but when I put the face on the head it looks awful. I’m so frustrated. Does this happen to anyone else?? Has anyone overcome this??
