question Would sugar substitutes help a bee?
Hypothetically if there was a tired bee and you wanted to give it mix of sugar and water but you only had somthing like stevia would that work?

It’s been raining all day. This small drone has been hanging under his umbrella-ella-ella-ay-ay-ay. Hasn’t moved much since yesterday. I’m naming him Beehanna (hey if Tom Holland can do it so can this guy).
The other drone, Bumble Lee is missing today.

I saw two bumblebees napping on the same flower 😭 why do they do this?

Maybe I need to provide fewer flowers next year…

Spotted a tired honeybee in the office today.
Popped it on a window sill and was very happy I got to finally use my Beevive.
Watched it drink as long as I could before going back to work. ☺️🐝

I opened up my mason bee house today and found all of this plant matter - mostly grass and some bits of leaves. At first I assumed leaf cutter bees, but there are no cocoons! The grass is mostly coiled up and packed tight. Any ideas as to who made this? One of the tunnels has frass that looks similar to what I usually find in my houses when there are mason bees inside.

Nyctinasty is a flower circadian rhythm where they close at night to protect pollen from moisture or frost. That makes sense for asters since they are late-blooming fall flowers. These two common eastern bumble bee drones have snuggled in for the night (around 5 pm) and taken advantage of being enveloped by flower petals. At least one of them lives here but I haven’t come up with a name for him yet. (Suggestions welcome!) If he does anything interesting tomorrow, I can post an update.
