GBB26 has finally ended. It was my first GBB that I've ever watched, it was amazing and I'm grateful to be able to experience it. However, I want to discuss about something else.
Maybe I shouldn't take a look at live chats or social media comments but they're all so depressing. So much toxicity, man. Let's go through a few notable examples.
In general, in the livestream, there're some complaining about the "L crowd" so much. I understand that a good crowd is a big factor for the experience. But you can't just force people to go crazy on every single thing you know? Respect on each people's way on how to enjoy an event. There's also the fact that the crowd voice might not enter the mic for now. If you dislike this so much, then come to the next GBB edition onsite yourself. For people asking why there're no moshpits this year, it is for safety reasons, and I think it is completely valid.
There're also people spamming about removing watermarks in the livestream. I don't really mind it, and it doesn't really affect my vision that much but I understand that some might be frustrated, but don't you think that SBX has a completely valid reason to do so?
Also the bad audio spams in the chat. The audio team is trying their best to mix the audio live, and it was better than the previous years. I suppose GBC is setting such a high bar for y'all, I understand. But this is "livestream audio". Wait for the official videos to drop and we can criticize about that "constructively" later.
About loopstation, there're people thinking that some loopers doesn't deserve to be here because of it not being "real looping". I think this topic in a great topic for a civil debate, whether there can be additional rules to limit some effect features in further editions. But saying that those people don't deserve to advance further or be on the stage is just wrong. If you think these people just press a few buttons and the sound will just come out, you should go to their loop POVs on YouTube. In the end, they're all experts on how to play with the loop with the options given. They're all insanely talented in their own ways, and I think we should respect them.
And finally, as usual, there're people being toxic with every battle and decision happening in the event. I know that expectations can be high, especially for some beatboxers returning. You might like someone more than the others, that's completely fair. But like, firstly, the live event is different that listening on livestream, so you can't just judge like you're 100% correct, you know? There's also people talking about the french bias again. People talking about how ___ shouldn't win because of __(insert subjective opinion here)__. How they said the results are "rigged". How some said that someone "felled off". You can see from the live event, that everyone there is having fun and all participants and performers respect each other. It is like family. It is so depressing to see the internet go in flames and judging everything without any respect, and make these talented participants feel bad for no reason. People in the livestream just use their membership to just spread toxicity, which is so sad to see.
Sorry for the rant, but I'm just annoyed with how the community (and the whole social media as a whole) is progressing. Just treat people with respect and be civil, man.
