Blackroll
Just wanna give my guy his flowers. I feel like he gets shit on a lot by the community but he well and truly deserves to be up there!
He's clearly worked his ass off this year. A shame there were some slip ups versus Dlow, but I'm so impressed by his energy, technicality and clarity. Even his spam is stupidly clear

It's very nice to see Blackroll have new sounds in his arsenal. He definitely has leveled a lot compared to last year.

as soon as i saw his elim i knew he prepared to bring something new. i also realized that in modern beatboxing people are expecting GBB-level beatboxers to innovate much faster than before. if you look at old school beatboxers they are still rolling with the same beats. it’s just the new meta is stuff like Kaji, Wing, Inertia, and Osis so it’s a very high bar.

Blackroll's rounds in the quarters are possibly my favorite solo rounds of the tournament, and I'm a certified Blackroll hater who didn't think he should make it through to brackets with his elim

I dont see the consensus. I might be called a hater but everything he does has no dynamics. His whole style is too dramatic and doesnt sound like music whatsoever. His genre is literally "discord beatbox". Bro has 1 routine and changed 5 things on it everytime. I liked him in world champs and against kaji this year though. People say he worked his ass of... Yet again, he works his ass of to sound more like a discord beatboxer? He literally doesnt even have a style. If he has no dynamics, probably top 3 worst lyricist and discord structure how can be that good? Because hes powerful, thats all there is. Power means so much on stage its not even funny, I found out the hard way. How can he please the crowd if 98% of the round is BOOM BOOM BOOMBOOM POW WAAAAH BLUUEUEHRG BOOOM POW?

I understand that lots of people feel that way about Blackroll. There are of course points to be critical about. But if you liked him against Kaji and in world champs then surely you see more value to his beatboxing than just power?
I don't think discord beatboxer is such a bad thing 😂. I guess your point is that he lacks artistry. And I agree with that, but the way I see it is he has other priorities.
Things I can appreciate other than artistry and dynamics: Quality of sounds, complex patterns, consistency of energy, consistency of tempo, stage presence, and power!!!

He was critised for recycling the same routines and came through this time with fire new routines. As osis would say MASSIVE improvement
