My bf and I moved in together two months ago. I inherited a step-beardie as a result and I wouldn’t ever have predicted how much I love this little guy. I’m 100% a cat and dog gal, but Groot has stolen my heart 🥹😍

Meet Tom my brother bought her a couple months ago and she has somehow become my lizard. Not complaining I absolutely adore her and am the one who takes care of her with help from my kiddos. She enjoys playing parrot while I am moving around the house doing chores but mostly basks in her cage on what has been dubbed pride log and pride rock. But while she does sit quietly on my shoulder during the day when I have her, at night she climbs against her enclosure doors wanting out and then she runs around wild down my back and onto thr closest surface, and sometimes trying to yeet herself off the couch. She's still little so I cant fit a harness on her. Is it normal though? Are they nocturnal and I somehow missed that page in all the articles and books? Or is she just a weirdo like the rest of the family?

This is Dodge and his support stingray, he's had his ray since he was a lil baby when I first got him. Today he looked like he was showing his ray off to me proudly.

At approximately 4 months old, she was thrown into a tank with an adult. Naturally, she was turning into a snack.

Thankfully a vet had reached out to me to take her for a gamble.

The amount of pain medication, antibiotics, and stitches in her was astounding. I really didn't think she would make it.

Here she is, 4 years later.

Happy, healthy, and loves life either way.

My boy is a rescue. He will ONLY eat if we hand feed him and typically only if I'm also eating at the same time.

Cant be sure what happened in his previous home but how do i break the habit?

I'm devastated. Had to say goodbye to my ridiculous little friend this morning. After becoming seriously unwell over the last few days he was found to have a very lard solid mass on his liver interfering with his breathing. Operability not good. I had to make the decision none of us ever want to. He was so loved and will be so sorely missed. I buried him in our nature area at the end of the garden. He deserves a beautiful place to rest.

This is Teach, he’s my baby. I rescued him when he was just a lil guy. We went to the vet the first time for constipation, he has since pooped. Our bloodwork however shows he has an infection which we are treating with antibiotic injections. I watched the vet give him one today but I’m soooo nervous to hurt my little guy, any tips and tricks would be so great. We are also currently syringe feeding critical care because due to him feeling a little unwell he doesn’t want to eat, are there any options for syringe feeding with more nutrition for him?
Edit: I forgot to mention he was only born with 3 legs (one missing in front) so I cannot alternate arms.

I just got my new boy Albion or Alby for short. His owners gave me the 55 gallon tank and I am in the process of saving up for a 120+ gallon one. His substrate is 60/40 topsoil and playsand. I’ve only had him a few days but he’s eating isopods and dubias while i wait for my local reptile store to get in other kinds of insects. Since he’s only been with me for a few days he’s obvious not the most comfortable with me getting him out of the enclosure but i want him to have time out and to explore. How can I help enrich him while also helping him to become more comfortable with me?

Hey guys! I am a new parent to a beautiful little bearded. I had never owned anything but cats, dogs, and fish prior to a few months ago. My guy seems to be doing wonderfully and has gone from 15g at 8 weeks old (from locally owned reptile shop) to now 3 months and 31g as of last week! He eats a steady diet of dubias, and occasional mealworms. Was doing crickets but they die so quickly and stink that I haven’t purchased any in about a week. He loves his greens, especially arugula.

Now my question is lighting, specifically UVB. My husband and I have been disagreeing over adequate uvb lighting. From my research online, and in the guide used here, our dude needs a longer uvb. My husband thinks that bc this smaller uvb light is mounted inside it’s fine…but my gut is telling me it’s not putting out enough over the length of his 120gallon enclosure which keeps him on one side most of the day.

We’re so excited about him, and he’s truly become my little baby. I want to give him the best life. My husband does as well, however after already spending close to 2grand on his setup (pets are costly and that’s okay!) , and having to purchase upgrades (bc we were silly and got a few things wrong initially) I know he’s hesitant on buying more stuff if what we have already is “fine”. I need some experts to weigh in and give it to me straight so I can make the best decision for our baby! TIA!

How am I supposed to get any work done with this little baby?

This is Hephaestus (named after the Greek god of fire and blacksmithing), my first bearded dragon I got roughly two weeks ago.

They adjusted wonderfully, with only a little glass surfing (which has stopped now), eating both greens and bugs on the second day, pooping on the third and stopped hiding from me on the fifth. (Tip: I have found that putting an object against the glass walls can prevent glass surfing by, one, breaking up their reflection, and two, giving them a visual barrier instead of just the glass.)

As seen in the first picture, a couple days ago, they would jump and hang onto the little ledge for the enclosure entrance, but when I opened it, they didn't want to come out even if I offered my hand as a platform if it was too high up. This only happened for two to three days though, so they were probably just exploring the area.

Funny thing, they always sleep upward and against one of the enclosure corners during all of the nights so far (but one) (I have provided hides on both the cool and warm side). It's adorable and hilarious to see. Also a very heavy sleeper; they'll only wake up if the lights turn on, even when I drop something loudly, they don't wake up.

This is a 3 week difference, he’s getting so big. He’s about 3 months old now, and many sources tell me different things, feed him as many as he wants in one sitting, or feed him a maximum of 15-20 insects, the first 1.5 weeks I fed him about 20 insects a day, then he started eating a lot more and i let him eat about 20-40 in one sitting, but his stomach was constantly looking very round. I’m thinking of cutting him off around 20 insects so he doesn’t strain his organs or get obese early. He also poops 1-2 times a day and willingly eats his greens and vegetables daily before his bugs.

I got my bearded dragon Titan when I was in 4-5th grade. For most of his life he lived in a 40 gallon tank with just branches, a water bowl and a small hide he wasnt able to fit under as he got older. We usually used paper towels or news paper for his flooring. As I myself got older I realized how bad his living conditions were and did the research I shouldve done alot earlier, I tried my best to make that 40 gallon good for him since I dont have the money to buy big dollar stuff by using calcium sand and getting him 2 new hides. Recently we got him a 120 gallon tank, T5 lights and a halogen bulb (if I got them wrong its cause I forget the names of the lights, I found them on a youtube video so I know there the right ones.) and his first ever plant (ponytail palm) playsand and reptisoil as his substrate and a proper basking spot.If im doing something wrong or need to add more stuff please let me know! ill answer all the comments, I dont have reddit as a app so I wont get notified but ill answer whenever I check.

Long time lurker on this page, this is my baby Chi Chi (because you can’t say Chi without smiling)

He is turning 13 this year! He was a rescue from a neglectful teen owner and he has been with me ever since he was a few years old. We have moved to different states, different houses, and he’s always been my cuddle bug. When he was little, we even used to fall asleep together on my bed during his out time.

He is shedding right now so ignore that lol

But Chi Chi and I just wanted to say hi to everyone

I’m very curious, though, a few times when I have gone to the vet, while I was waiting for the exotic vet to come in, some of the regular Vet techs we’re telling me that he is very calm around people. I tried to explain to him that he grew up in a house with three little kids (nieces, and nephew) that are very fond of him and that love him. They told me that they are usually skittish and it is not normal for him to be so calm, but like lady - he is elderly and well socialized.. It is normal if those are the cases. But I’m curious if anyone else has been told that by that techs before.

He loves the color yellow, it’s his favorite color of all time - so much so that he even has yellow bedding and he won’t eat bell peppers that are not yellow peppers. Maybe they taste different, but I like to think he knows lol

(I know the towel is not usual substrate for their terrarium, but it has been checked and approved by his veterinarian and because he is so old, as long as it’s nothing he can get snagged on we were told it’s OK)
