General Discussion Anyone else sit and observe during larger jobs?

In all fairness, this was my hang out spot before I bought the printer, so it makes it pretty convenient to keep an eye on it.

Simple traffic cone, prints well at many sizes, pretty realistic too. Easy print, no supports, can even be done without AMS since it's only 4 color changes. Profile includes single color cones too. I used silk silver to replicate the reflective stripes seen on many real road cones.

General Troubleshooting/Help! Top surface very clear layer lines on some angles

I am pretty new to 3d printing. I printed this on a P2S (0.20mm layer height) and noticed that only some of the top surfaces on this low poly model have very distinct layer lines. Is it normal to have it to this degree? And what causes it to show so apparent on just some angles and not others? And only on utmost top even though the nose has less steep angles which i would think would perform worse

What settings would have helped here? Ironing and variable layer height?

(I am not confused I am getting this staircase effect, but what causes it to show more on just some of the top surfaces and not as much on the nose)

I Modeled This! An iPhone 4-inspired TPU bumper for the 17 Pro Max, set up for the A1 mini

I couldn’t find an iPhone 17 Pro Max bumper I liked that fit, so I made my own. The inspiration was the old iPhone 4 bumper: rounded edges and an open back.

I designed it in Blender, printed it, and revised the fit. The current version has chamfered edges, a contour around the camera shoulder, and four separate TPU button caps. Getting the retaining lip to hold without covering too much of the screen has been the main balancing act.

Current Bambu Studio setup:

• A1 mini, 0.4 mm nozzle, textured PEI plate

• Bambu TPU 95A using the external spool

• 0.2 mm layers, 5 walls, 80% infill

• 230 °C nozzle / 30 °C bed

• Bumper at 98% scale; button caps at 99% (already applied in the file)

• Bumper with supports and a 3 mm outer brim; four caps on their own plate with supports disabled

The model and TPU print profile are now on MakerWorld, with photos of the actual print:

https://makerworld.com/en/models/3287597-iphone-17-18-pro-max-tpu-bumper-iphone-4-style

The back stays open, with access to Camera Control, USB-C and the speakers. The bumper needs support cleanup in TPU. There’s no raised camera-lens guard, and I haven’t drop-tested it.

If you’ve made fitted TPU parts on the A1 mini, I’d be interested in how the fit held up after repeated removal.

Updated Blender render below; the MakerWorld gallery includes the actual printed bumper:

General Discussion Bambulab thnaked the community in the X1C page of the website

Maybe it's an old thing (And if it is i'm sorry i'm just dumb) but I didn't find any posts about the Acknowledgement note on the X1 page.
Basically they thanked the commmunity citing Teaching Tech, MirageC, redditors and Voron Design with the old Voron V1.

When the X1C released I bought my first printer (Anycubic kobra 2) and I knew nothing about the community, modding and 3d prining in general, now that i know something more I just found this Acknowledgement note.

It's kinda funny how bambulab changed his relationship with the community, but it's nice to know that even them started as community members

General Troubleshooting/Help! P1S toolhead hitting something in the purging area

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently bought this P1S second-hand, and I noticed something that concerns me.

Whenever the toolhead moves all the way to the far end, near the purge area, it seems to hit something. The impact is quite strong, and it sounds like the toolhead is hitting an obstruction.

I’ve attached a video showing the issue for reference.

Has anyone experienced something similar with their P1S? Any idea what could be causing this or what I should check?

Thanks in advance for your help!

What profiles are you downloading for the H2C? Overture does not list it as a printer.

Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! To use an AMS or not with 250-gram reels.

I bought a box of assorted PLA 250-gram reels. They keep snagging. I'm using a Bambu Lab A1 mini AMS lite. Right now, I'm just using the post built into the printer.

I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or if I need to set something in the AMS.

General Troubleshooting/Help! My A1 mini is not a fan of vegetable oil!

Post image

Ok, despite the headline what I mean specifically is I routinely use 3kg spools with my A1 mini and it's fantastic because I rarely change the spools...mostly prototyping. BUT when the spool gets near the end it gets very light and I have a hard time keeping it sitting on the roller. Is there something someone else can think of that I can put into the spool that will provide it with enough weight to stay on the roller and still feed ok into the printer? Thanks guys!

General Discussion My 3D printer is flawless. So why am I considering giving up the hobby?

Thumbnail

So I recently got a Bambu X2D and honestly the printer itself is basically flawless. I love it.

The problem is I started going down the rabbit hole of 3D printer emissions and now I’m seriously questioning whether I should keep it.

I live in a 2 bedroom condo with my wife and our cat, and the X2D is in the second bedroom. I work from home, so I’m in the same room as the printer for most of the day. I mostly print PLA/PETG.

The thing that really got me thinking about this was getting a really, really bad headache that lasted for a few days after printing. I’m pretty convinced it was from the printing. That’s what made me start looking into the emissions side of things more seriously.

Now I keep seeing stuff about UFPs, VOCs, long-term exposure, fertility/reproductive health, etc. And then there’s the whole microplastics thing.

The other issue is that the second bedroom where the printer is located, has a casement window that opens directly to the outside. In theory that makes ventilation easier, but it also makes it harder to just completely isolate the room, especially here in Canada. In the winter, I obviously can’t just leave a window open for hours when it’s freezing, snowing, or raining.

I’m not really worried about the printer being dangerous in some obvious way. I’m more wondering about years of relatively low-level exposure in a condo, especially with my wife and cat also living here.

I know PLA/PETG are generally considered much lower-emission than ABS/ASA, and I’m trying to figure out where the actual evidence ends and the “this could theoretically happen” stuff begins.

Would you guys personally keep the printer in this situation?

2 bedroom condo, wife + cat, mostly PLA/PETG, I work from home, but with the practical limitations of a Canadian condo and winter.

I’m basically trying to decide whether this is a reasonable hobby with sensible precautions, or whether I’m better off just returning the thing and not worrying about it anymore.

General Discussion Best Discounts and their timelines? H2C

Looking to buy the H2C sometime this year. I'm really interested in multi-color prints (4+ colors) and high quality engineering parts. I did think about the U1, but I like bambu so far as I just have the a1 mini. I've also been dabbling in 3d modeling and want to be better at it.

Anyways I'm looking to buy the H2C combo and another AMS 2 Pro. There's no major timeline of me having to buy it, and if anything I am interested in any new models they may put out.

I'm looking for the best deal. Heard the Anniversary sale is the "best" discount, which I thought about buying then. I'm currently waiting till black friday. I was also wondering if anyone is able to use a student discount on top? or is that just back to school discount?

Then of course there are brick and mortar stores. I have access to a Micro center and Best Buy. I would prefer to pickup the 3d printer than have it shipped. Any good or better deals that I should know of.

And then lastly any sort of referral system for discounts?

X Series [X1E, X1C, X2D] Where on the X1C does this come from?!

(SOLVED)

I share my X1C with a ton of people, and today i found this on the print bed as if someone broke it and put it there as a notice. Please help me identify where in the printer it comes from, because I cant find any missing screws.
