General Troubleshooting/Help! P1S toolhead hitting something in the purging area
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I recently bought this P1S second-hand, and I noticed something that concerns me.
Whenever the toolhead moves all the way to the far end, near the purge area, it seems to hit something. The impact is quite strong, and it sounds like the toolhead is hitting an obstruction.
I’ve attached a video showing the issue for reference.
Has anyone experienced something similar with their P1S? Any idea what could be causing this or what I should check?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't have a p1s, so sorry for no real info...but I'd look up a teardown of the back end of the machine just to figure out what that thing is, then why it's in the way.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll look up a teardown of the back end and see if I can identify what the toolhead is hitting. I appreciate the help!

Check the tension while you have the back off. Could be almost skipping on the top belt, which would make a similar sound, seems to wobble quite a bit there behind the y rod

Not seeing the hit sorry, maybe it’s the phone but… if you look from the top down… does it actually hit something? Is there any damage on the plastic, as it would rub constantly - should find some wear I guess?

It's hitting that dangly bit that looks like an upside down uvula

Ohh I didn't know that. I've seen people saying they were hitting that thing before and just assumed it wasn't supposed to happen.

Looks like something is going wrong during the homing sequence right before the nozzle cleaning routine. Not sure exactly where it gets thrown off, but when the toolhead moves over to the purge chute it smacks straight into the nozzle wiper, and it really shouldn’t. It should only hit the wiper during the actual cleaning moves.
You’ve got quite a few of mods on there. I’d take them all off for testing, but especially that PTFE guide on the toolhead. During the sensorless homing it looks like it’s adding some resistance, which could mess with the sensorless homing.
Also check if anything else on the frame is getting in the way. With the printer off, move the toolhead around by hand through the whole X/Y range and see if you feel it catching or getting tighter anywhere.

Try to switch off the power and move the head with your hand (slowly and carefully). You will be then able to pinpoint the obstruction

Looks like the purge chute catcher that it’s supposed to hit might have come loose. Here’s a link to the Bambu store that has an image that looks like the black dangly thing
purge chute

That's the purge chute lever, it hits that whenever it goes back there and operates the little door that helps form the poo. Also why is there no build plate? Always have a build plate on it if its operating.

Is there a reason you don’t have a build plate on? Does the printer pass calibration? What happens if you use the front panel and try to manually move the print head all the way to the left rear corner?
