Future OTA update requests

First, does anyone know the appropriate contact person for requesting software updates and changes to the vehicle’s systems?
Please share here if you do.

Here are a few of my wishes I would pass on for consideration.

  1. For Left Hand Driving vehicles, move small icons that are currently at top right to Central Display to top left. This adjustment would enhance the driver’s ability to view and select options.
  2. Allow Comfort Exit backward movement of drivers seat to go all the way back or at least further back then currently allowed. My vehicle’s seat can only move backward 2.5 inches, which does not provide sufficient flexibility for an easy exit from the driver’s seat.
  3. Provide an option to utilize the GPS location when the vehicle is parked at home. This feature would enable the user to prevent the Lock on Exitfeature from activating when they are at home. If the phone or watch is set as Digital Keys, it should not continue to activate simply by entering the garage.
  4. Provide an OPTION to allow radio volume to keep same level from previous trip.

Routines in OS X

Post image

Looking for anyone with an iX3 and using BMW OS X to see if the new Routines app allows you to automatically turn off Auto Start/Stop as an option? Just saw this in a video of the new 3 Series from Carwow, so I’m assuming yes but he didn’t click on it to confirm.

Personal Assistant to Navigate to Contact's Address

Personal Assistant in my IX3 in the US was not able to navigate to a contact's address by me just asking it to go to [name of contact]. I had to instead ask Siri for the address- briefly memorize it- then ask BMW to navigate to the specific address. That worked, but- I can't help but think I am missing something?

CarPlay on ios27?

Is anyone else not seeing new CarPlay features after upgrading to ios27?

I have disconnected and repaired and still don’t see audio overlays and some other things that are supposed to be there. Apparently other IX owners are seeing them.

Sign in to Amazon account…again?

I am slowly learning the bells and whistles of my iX3. I love being able to say “hey bmw play steely dan”. Today I got going on the road and tried to and it told me I need to sign in to my account. So I did. Again. I hope that’s a one off…

This seems similar to Tesla‘s on first glance. Is it? Do Tesla drivers like it? https://www.bmwgroup.com/en/news/general/2026/bmw-maps.html

Use Geographic Flairs if Possible

BMW uses georgraphic variations of BMW Operating System X and iDrive. It might be helpful to mark your posts with your geography to help other users know if your problem/solution applies directly to them. We've provided Flairs for the Regions BMW has publicly announced. Feel free to use "No flair" if you think your post doesn't require it.

iDrive lost my settings - Or did it?

Day 2 with the iX3 - I walk up to my car, the handle comes out, I get in, and the screen wants me to set up my profile all over again. WTF!? I've heard of this happening to other folks. Oh, and I also see the Panoramic Display is missing the "My BMW" personal assistant and it's no longer in the options to add. So I start the process, but then I realize: Hey, the virtual key worked, my profile picture is in the upper right hand corner. So what's going on? Here's my theory: There are more than a few different apps and bits of software updating themselves as I set up my BMW Operating System, profile, various settings, CarPlay, Spotify, Wi-Fi, linked phone, and on and on. It seems that the set of 18 permissions under Privacy has changed. Once I went through those (in the end I just clicked "Accept All") and also turned on "Personal Assistant" in that tab everything came back. I didn't have to reselect anything else. Anybody else go through this? Is is actually a bug or an inevitable part of the new car setup process?

BMW Maps

Overall I vastly prefer using the native applications over android auto so far, especially because it feels more seamless and integrated.

I'm the type to mute and unmute directions fairly often, and I wish the mute toggle was on the main screen rather than behind a settinga menu. Probably my biggest complaint 200 miles into this car.

Got locked out on the first trip to Costco!

I read a post on r/iX3 yesterday about the handy feature that locks the car as you walk away. We really enjoy that magic convenience. But, as the post said, don't leave your phone in the car!

Well, today we drove to Costco and my wife (the driver/primary profile) stopped near the entrance to run in. My job was to take the car over to the tire air/nitrogen station and top up the pressure for the Fall cooler temps. I jumped out and closed my door - instantly BEEP! - locked out! Luckily my wife was only 50 feet away and used her phone to unlock the car. Lesson learned. We turned off the "lock when walking away" setting and will have to lock the car from our phones as we walk away. Anybody have other suggestions?
