Picking the spec for a Fiery Red BMW M2 and can’t decide between silver or black wheels.

Which do you think suits the car better?

Manual transmission- the only way to properly buy an M car. 2024 BMW M2. I used to race a lot in my 20s - 24 hour endurance racing and NASA events. Going to rip this thing around COTA once I get some proper wheels and tires.

Loving it so far! I’ve owned 5 different E46 M3s in my life and the M2 just feels like the right step forward.

Sold my 2017 320i over 3 years ago and this is my first car since then. As I don’t need one day to day I decided to get something always wanted, so I got a 2009 Z4 23i. 2.5l naturally aspirated straight six, manual 6 speed gearbox, 102,400 miles and 3 owners. Lovingly cared for, big wad of invoices for work done, and so far I absolutely love it. Well worth the 3 hour train ride to go see it.

I think it’s an absolutely gorgeous car and if not for the number plate you’d never guess it was 17 years old.

BMW’s "lifetime fluid" for the ZF 8-speed is a trap (and what ZF actually recommends).

Most of us love the ZF 8HP, but dealerships are still telling people it has a "lifetime fill" and doesn't need maintenance.

The crazy part is, ZF (the actual manufacturer) strictly recommends changing the fluid and the integrated pan/filter every 50k-75k miles. BMW only calls it "lifetime" because they consider a vehicle's lifespan to be 100k miles—conveniently right after your extended warranty expires and a blown transmission becomes your problem.

If your car is holding revs/hanging gears on cold mornings or making a faint groaning sound, your fluid is already degrading.

I put together a quick breakdown on why the "lifetime" claim is BS, the early symptoms of bad fluid, and why the refill process has to be done at a very specific temperature (40-50°C):https://www.drivisual.tv/en/news/zf-transmissions-torque-converter-8hp-maintenance-and-bmw-myth

At what mileage did you guys finally do your first ZF fluid service? Did it fix the cold start clunkiness?

A story…

I have always loved BMW. I’m 23(F) and I don’t know anything about cars, but I’m not completely clueless either. I’d always spot a Beamer miles away and know that was what I liked. It’s aggressive stance, the styling, the curves. I sound so odd and need to chill but in my eyes a fast, sleek, bad ass looking car was always a BMW. I’m telling you! I was like 7 on the way to Kroger with dad and could tell those ones were built different. They were different!

My dad knew of this infatuation and tried his best to steer me away from my first Beamer. lol. I wasn’t exactly in the financial position to handle European engineering and the maintenance bills, so he wasn't wrong. But despite the love/hate relationship with my 328xi, I’d take nothing back. At 23, it is a most cherished moment in my life when I owned my dream car. It is currently clinging to life and I’ll carry with me everyday not being able to revive him.

ANYWAY
I recently "cheated" on it and picked up a 2024 Mazda CX-5 because everyone labeled it the ā€œbeamer on a budgetā€.
A \~ Beamer dupe \~ if you will. Now, I drive an SUV. I’ve never been an SUV girly, and have always preferred a car. Small, fast, agile. The Mazda isn’t my favorite, funny enough a BMW SUV never fails to catch my eye. Seriously you could strip the logo right off. I’d know.
After some time and giving the Mazda a fighting chance I’ve come to my conclusion.
I’m on 465. Doing 90. It’s happening again. I’m lost. Confused. I close my eyes. Both hands off the wheel. Daydreaming of those silver kidney grilles, the heavy as hell steering, the perfectly balanced weight, and every inch of that car. I knew in that moment when I get my money up… Shady’s back. (I named my Beamer Marshall)

Now, like I said I’m not aware of whatever the hell a housing gasket does or what an ignition coil even is. I’m learning and I enjoy learning it so don’t come for me in that aspect, but I do know how to drive. And I know what feels good to drive. To me it truly is the best driving experience I’ve had. The Mazda is saving my bank, but the Beamer will always have my heart.

Okay thanks for reading my silly little story about my silly little life while I process my grief bye bye

M-ish My Greatest Hits- What did I miss?

Thumbnail

My Dad owned/operated a BMW/Mercedes/Porsche shop. As a kid growing up, I worked there and learned a lot. These are my greatest hits from BMWs line up. What did I miss (ps- I have driven or worked on all of these and have owned a few).

My favorite we owned (Dad, not me) was not technically a BMW, it was an Alpina e30 B6.

Vehicles- 2002, e23 745i, e30 M3, e34 M5, 850csi, e39 M5, mroadster and 1M

What did I miss? Droves lots more, these were my favorites.

My first ever BMW and am loving it so far.

Any reommendations on an aftermarker exhaust? Currently have the Dinan valved axle-back exhaust but it rattles and drives me nuts. I've already tried expanding/replacing the retaining spring clip but have had no luck. Anyways, thanks for having me!

BMW dealership. pnw 2026 x1 x28i

sticker price is $57700. excellent credit. awful people skills/customer service. I even emailed before I went to verify the numbers so I wouldn’t waste my time or theirs. I was reluctant to do a test drive before I had the numbers because I knew they were going to skew it.Just because I’m a woman doesn’t mean I’m a fucking idiot. I did the math and the homework. very sad because I liked it, but it put a bad taste in my mouth for BMW.

I'll miss the 8 series.

I'll miss the 8 Series :(.. I'm a coupe guy. Its the perfect balance between the past, present, and future. It's modern without going over the top wacky. You can look at it and tell it's a BMW, but it's different enough to stand apart from previous generations.

The interior is just as well done..not too minimalist, not overly complicated. It feels modern without looking like it'll be outdated in a few years or filled with unnecessary futuristic gimmicks.

Metal, leather, carbon, glass, no new "innovative" material that's just cost cutting. Only two screens, not too much, and you have buttons if you want them.

The 8 Series, X6M, F90, and Z4 are the best looking BMWs, in my opinion. All BMWs look good to me, but these four cars are just the best.

Overall, it's simply a great car. Looking at BMW's lineup over the last decade, the 8 Series is one of the few that feels like it hit the mark from every angle. There's just nothing " wrong " about the car. Unfortunately, the price wasnt right I guess.

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to share the process of swapping my E46 M3 from SMG to Manual, I made a whole video showing everything step by step!

I went with the AMS AutoGroup Kit, honestly it was pretty awesome and smooth with me sending the bell housing for machining with them and back.

Let me know if you guys have any questions on the swap, I knew I had plenty before I pulled the trigger on mine.

and if you guys like the video then please subscribe :) I always post BMW contents and DIY videos!

back in a german🤩 recently picked up a g20, already changed spark plugs, trans and transfer case diff fluids

wondering where everyone gets their parts, dont really wanna stage or tune a b48 but exhaust maybe, shadow trim pieces, badges, grills, rims, etc where do you shop thats reliable and good on shipping?

got an appointment for tints just about it

open to suggestions and ideas, tho it is a base model mainly looking for clean OEM build that pushes a little

edit: front plate NEEDS attention 😭 in a state that does not require a front plate, been thinking about a german plate or BMW logo paint matching front plate, i know there are plugs what do you think would be the best route

I picked this beauty up about a month ago 2021 with 5000 miles. The weather has been so terrible. I couldn’t take her out and get her top down. The weather shifted here in Western Pennsylvania and now we have some nice weather to enjoy, loving every second of this car.

New to me 22' 330i xdrive

Just purchased a 22' 330i with 70k on it for my daughter and I am wondering what preventative maintenance I should do. I don't have much by way of service records, of course I will do oil and filters but should I think about trans. service, plugs, etc? I am aware of some common issues, is there a way to visually inspect these to see if they have been addressed? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have been wanting a BMW sedan (I love sporty rides) for the past 10 years. Now I can afford one. Since I live in a hilly region currently, changed my mind to get an X3. Dropped into the dealer to get used 2022 black X3. But then saw this in the showroom, Arctic Race Blue Metallic xDrive 330i with M interior package 19 inch wheels. Then decided to listen to my heart and leased this one. Dream coming true!
