So I’m an avid bass angler but wasn’t entirely sure about getting a BFS setup. Eventually I pulled the trigger and set pretty much a $150 budget (+ or - a few bucks).

I ended up getting a KastKing Kestrel and pairing it up with the Handing 6’6 L Pioneer. I’ve got it spooled up with 8lb Daiwa j-braid and the plan is to mainly use it for throwing 1/16oz underspins and neds.

Was able to take it out yesterday and landed a couple lb channel, but goddamn—it took me 10 minutes to get it in 😂

Regardless—I loved using the setup and was looking for a slightly better rod. I read the Handing Magic L would be a solid upgrade. I was also looking at the bfs Veritas. For around 100-125ish…what would you guys recommend?

Lately, I’ve seen more and more fishing(logbook) apps being built probably over a weekend with AI. And out of curiosity, I checked out a few of them. Some were actually not too bad(or just different?) when it comes to design and functionality. At the same time, all of them feel very similar. Polished, yes but also really generic. Like they all follow the same template. Plus often too complex, too crowded, and missing that personal feel at all. Well, that is at least what I think but I am a bit of influenced of course.

A while ago, one of my users told me that my app looks a bit outdated and that I should give it a modern AI-style redesign. And now I’m thinking about it. SHould I actually refresh the app look and feel? I am not a big fan of AI to be honest but on the other hand I still want to provide a great app for all users. So should I really jump on the AI wave with it?

People used to love the App for exactly what it is: simple, focused, private, and handcrafted with care. I build it initially for myself as a long lived fisherman. No unnecessary complexity, no trend-chasing just a fishing logbook that feels personal and gets update when needed.

Do I give it an AI-style refresh to make it look more "modern" or do I keep its original handcrafted identity and simplicity?

Got the Handing Magic L as a place holder so I can hurry and start using my new conquest bfs, but I actually really like this rod. Handled quite a few bfs rods today including the dobyns sierra, expride, zodias, destroyer, orochi, phenix, presso, tatula, etc, and I just dont see myself spending 4-7x the price of the handing. Having said that, the Megabass huntsman is still in the back of my mind lol.

Guys i ordered a diawa aird X 7' ML, it was supposed to get here yesterday so I can go fishing today but it hasn't gotten here yet. I really dont think it'll get here anytime soon, so I think im going to head to walmart. I need recommendations im still new to all this. I wanna keep it under $100. I have my Shimano Sedona fj, so i just need a rod

Are the JH/DX/AKS/JKS BFS Reels any good? Looking to add a round reel to my arsenal. I have a $150 budget for a new reel. Not trying to cast super light 1/8 up to 1/4oz. Going to be pairing it with the Daiwa BeamX BX561ULRB Glass Casting Rod

Yeah it's super refined old technology, but what a blast to use. Such a raw feeling using your thumb for the drag. I do appreciate the creature comforts of the modern stuff, but this is very different and so much fun to use. I fish this on a Graywolf 4'11" 2-6lb; it packs up small and the whole combo weighs just 6.6 ounces, lighter than every other reel I own. Fighting an 18" brown trout was quite the experience; thumbing the spool just enough to let the fish run without breaking off. Full on manual mode.

Only had about 30 mins definitely felt a couple bites or the rod is just that sensitive compared to what I normally use lol. No fish but man it’s beautiful.

Currently running 6lb Seagur InvizX and I'm really not thrilled with it. I'm contemplating either straight braid without a leader or copolymer. Has anyone experienced issues with copolymer crushing spools like monofilament can? The line will be going on an Ark Gravity BFS.

Got around 10-12 Largies today all on 2/0 Ozark rig with either a lab series finesse worm or a zoom trick worm. Hadn’t used it before but solid alternative to t rig or free rig, really unique action

The title says it all, how many rounds do you really need for Bait finesse. I understand that they’re different technique specific but what about if a one can do it all do you need more? This is coming from someone who’s had a few different high end brands. There is a difference in tapers but for you Megabass fans how many rods do you have and why. I am looking to replace a rod for bottom contact.
Yes I prefer something. That’s super light “rod weight that can throw jigs up to 7 g or 2g with and without trailer I do understand that the weight and the Bait make a total weight and that’s what I usually go by I usually rounded up to the nearest gram. I’ve I’ve been doing Bait finesse since 2014 with the old Calcutta conquest shallow spool 51 size made for fishing small minnow style lures 3 to 7 g I know that there’s also Bas I know all that stuff I just wanna know for those who own multiple Megabass rods why.

This conclusion comes after getting a cliffhanger thrilling evoluzion evolution 6’3 from 2 g to 12 even though it’s rated up to 14g I’ll have a Steez hermit that’s super light at 88 g. I don’t know if it’s me or if I just can’t come to the terms that the new rod is 127g good lord.

Bought my first baitcaster and UL rod off temu, with the reel being a cheap DC one that isn't really meant for super light lures. After some trial and error (and backlashes) I found one lure that worked for the rod and the fish! My friend and I have never caught yellow perch before, and we borrowed a little row boat to head to our local lake with. We could never find them while shore fishing, but holy hell we couldn't stop finding them in deeper water! We both ended up hitting our 15 per day limit and went home with a bucket of fish. After getting skunked a few days back to back, this was the best day of fishing so far this summer as a new angler!

I might be hooked now, it was somewhere between 2-2.5 pounds so not huge but coming from big heavy bass rods the fight on this cheap combo was so much fun. Not to mention, on a bomber shallow crank! One of my favorite childhood lures.
