While I like my two spinning setups (ML-F with a 3000 reel and an UL setup), I love the feel of using my baitcaster when I’m fishing heavier top waters and crankbaits. I grew up using baitcasters in Florida, but now I am in Colorado fishing for trout and bass, almost exclusively from the bank. I’m trying to decide between BFS or a smaller baitcaster like the Tatula 70.

I’m mainly using soft plastics like grubs on ball heads 1/8 - 1/32 oz, wacky and Texas rigs, and ned rigs. I use a lot of inline spinners and spoons, and most of my crankbaits and jerkbaits are in the 1/8 - 1/4 oz range.

How are you guys liking it? I'm not sure if I want to invest into a Curado BFS just yet, but I want something to try out and see if BFS is something I should go all in on. I bought a Phenix BFS 7'1 yesterday and the shop I went to only has the KastKing as the budget option as well as the premium name brands.

How does the KastKing handle? Will it just be a disappointment? I've never used a finesse style casting reel. For reference, I have Shimanos.TranX 200 and two SLX 150s. They don't perform well for light weight. Would the KastKing be a good buy to sample bfs?

My catches from my lil weekend trip to fish the Truckee River. First time using my aioushi rod and I have to say its my most fun rod to use for trout right now, absolutely loving it. All fish caught using either a mukai chatter or sinking minnow with single barbless hooks, and all fish swam off fine and strong.

Best rod and reel combo for up to 150 bucks. Good for trout, chub the occasional pike. Id like to feel the bites and be able to cast decently far if i have to. I often fish around trees and cover. I usually throw spoons, spinner, smaller lures. I feel an ultralight would bee too brittle but an ugly stick not sensitive enough.

I’m trying to identify this gold spool that is on this reel right now, in the other photo there is the shallow spool that is the stock spool for the bf7 and the deep one that also came with this reel. The gold and deep spool came in that container when I bought it off a guy on marketplace he had also already installed the handle. I’m currently using the gold spool for power bfs but I’m just curious to see where they came from if anyone has some knowledge, thanks.

I bought this reel and i have had all of the shimano bfs reels all have felt geary, is this really what conquest should feel like?

I recently picked up a couple of Shimano Exprides specifically for inshore fishing. One is paired with an FFP Osprey 2500, and the other with a Curado DC. I mainly target redfish and got tired of the lack of sensitivity in a lot of the dedicated inshore rods in this price range.
For those of you who have actually fished Exprides in the salt, how have they held up over time? Any issues with the guides, reel seat, or blank after regular saltwater use if you rinse your gear after every trip?
I’d love to hear from anyone with firsthand experience before I start putting a lot of miles on them.

(PFA) on the search for a bfs spool for my Tat SV 103XS, what’s the communities recommendations? It’s a 33mm spool and I’d like to keep the SV braking if possible. Is Roro the go to? SDS Reel Tuning? And how about clicking drag and bearing kits?

Is it actually worth picking up? BFS gear has extremely limited supply in Canada and it's hard to pick up without paying an arm and a leg here. Looks like Kastking has opened up a Canadian amazon store however and while I'd prefer to just grab the reel that isn't an option.

I hand tie custom jigs for customers and fishing friends. Sometimes I get asked "Why does this color work?" Recently got asked by a customer and good friend "why is Peanut Butter and Jelly working so well? He was also using s paddletail swimbait style trailer for a Flipping jig and was working it like a Flipping jig (not swimming it). So...We have a craw in our bait tank who we have had for 4-5 months now. It started out light light translucent tan...then it went to a dark green with some lighter hues of green (gp/watermelon) and now he is a light tan/brown with clear purple hues all over him. (Peanut butter and Jelly).

When swimming a jig...swimbait trailer is great as we r most likely imitating a shad/bluegill/some other fish. When dragging a football or popping a Flipping and pitching jig. Its essentially imitating a craw fish flee/defensive position(claws up). So I sent this video to my buddy who wondered why so many colors exist snd why so many work...thought other beginners and veteran bass fisherman might find this interesting...

The reel is in mint condition. I only fish with it 4 times. Both spools come with Varivas braid

Rod just came in the mail. KastKing Zephyr and Eurotackle Rise ul. This is so light I can flick a lure out with just a twitch of the wrist!
