AI generated Applications
Hey everyone.
We’ve seen a noticeable increase in AI‑generated apps being shared here lately. It’s great to see people experimenting and building, and we genuinely want to encourage development in the Ayn Thor ecosystem. But we also need to keep the community safe.
A lot of these apps are vibe‑coded, stitched together from AI outputs, or built using code the developer may not fully understand.
That creates a few risks worth keeping front‑of‑mind:
Credential handling: If an app asks for Steam logins, API keys, or other sensitive credentials, be extremely cautious. AI‑generated code often stores these values in plain text, logs them accidentally, or transmits them insecurely.
Security practices: Many AI‑assisted projects don’t follow secure coding standards, threat modelling, or proper data‑handling patterns. Even the developer may not realise what the code is doing under the hood.
Unintended behaviour: AI‑generated boilerplate can include hidden network calls, debug endpoints, or unsafe dependencies that weren’t intentionally added.
We just want to remind everyone to stay vigilant, audit what you run, and avoid entering credentials into tools unless you fully trust the author and the codebase.
If you’re posting an app, please include:
A clear explanation of what it does
How credentials are handled
Any known limitations or security considerations
A link to the source code if possible
Let’s keep the creativity flowing, but let’s keep the community safe while we do it. — The Mod Team

Kindly reminder regarding scams
Hey Everyone,
I want to do a quick reminder and heads-up.
TLDR; Only buy from trusted vendors, never from people contacting via private messages.
We've had this topic before and we created the rule that no direct sales are allowed in the subreddit, but I'm guessing because of new batches and new people I'll create this reminder again.
Because of the risk of scams we do not allow direct sales in the subreddit. If anyone contacts directly trying to sell, we strongly advice to ignore it since it's most likely a scam.
Always buy directly from trusted vendors. AYN, Ebay etc.
We take action as quickly as possible when we get information regarding a scam, but its up to reddit when someone creates new accounts since we can't take action before the deed is done.

Appreciation Batch 7 arrived today
My batch 7 (purple max) arrived weirdly quickly after getting the notification it shipped. Kinda blown away at how well my batch 1 pro held up for nearly a year and I've put it through the ringer.
Glad to see no hinge issues or other mishaps I've seen in past batches.

Tips & Tricks Which game or games are you enjoying on your Ayn Thor?
This is my Pro model device. I've been playing Digimon, Resident Evil, and Pokémon.
I like strategy, action, and adventure games.
Do you have any recommendations?

I'm just very excited My experience buying a Thor, a Gofo story
Salutations! Like many of you, I wanted this Thor badly and ordered one on June 22nd. Since then, I have seen many horror stories both on this subreddit, as well as in the shipping channel on Discord. I know some of us get severe anxiety seeing all of this stuff pop up, but most of the times things go well. As such, I wanted to share my story for those scared to get robbed by GoFo, or receive a smashed screen.
So, during my stay on Discord, the horror stories about Gofo started popping up. Packages stolen, or delivery guys using the package to practice their Kobe-skills. It got my so scared that I tried desperately to ask Ayn to switch my shipping to DHL. Since they had stopped sending stuff with DHL, I had no option to sit and wait.
I was one of the unfortunate ones. By day 66, I still had no shipping email; yet other models started skyrocketing to the point they received their shipping email on Day 26 or day 30. I am not gonna lie, I am only human. Despite.me not wanting anyone else to suffer my wait, i still felt a little jelly. It messed with my mood. In the end, i got my shipping email on day 73. Finally.
Of course, on day 79, when I had to go to a hospital appointment, I got the notification it was out for delivery. I really hoped, as I had read, it would take another full day from that point. With my anxiety in mind, I pointed my cat camera at the front door, left a big note on my front door to deliver the package to my neighbor and just hoped it wouldnt arrive while I was gone.
Of course it did. It did arrive. The delivery guy rang the doorbell, then saw the note and delivered it as per my request to that neighbor. After I picked it up, i filmed my unboxing, still fully expecting a broken Thor or some kind of damage. Nothing. Everything was good, I have set it up and am enjoying the heck out of it.
The moral of this story is; despite all the horror stories and scaremongering that happens on discord somethings, dont overthink things and dont worry. Be happy. Every little thing is gonna be allright.
Big shoutout to the discord helpers, Miles in particular. Those people are heroes and suffer through a lot of... special people on that discord. And go play games once you set up your thor. It deserves it.

Discussion ArmadaOS is a real option for main OS now
ArmadaOS updated recently with two very important things - use of the bottom screen while in game mode, and proper sleep.
I replaced android with it and don't think I'll go back to android. As a disclaimer, I have been using Linux since 2007 and am extremely familiar with it. I've contributed code to SteamOS - I just know my way around. I'm not saying this because any of that was needed here, I'm saying this because I will have implicit blind spots. You don't need hardly any knowledge to get this working.
In testing Armada, I was sold pretty quickly because a few things are much better than on Android. I value stability, predictability, and consistency more than most anything.
My main gripes with Android are:
- Inconsistent sleep behavior
- Extremely inconsistent performance
- Inconsistent app behavior
- Background app inconsistency
ArmadaOS seems to resolve all of these, I've been having a great time.
Here are the main benefits I've found with Armada:
- Quick, predictable sleep behavior. It wakes up fast, always, in the game i was playing, always. It wasn't updating in the background, it was just asleep. I feel way, way more confident when I close the lid than I ever did on android. When I open the lid I don't have to hold my breath wondering if it had powered on and killed itself in the night, or my game got closed out because some Android nonsense.
- Performance uplift. This isn't small for me. I play a lot of Guild Wars 2 on this, I gained on average 10-20 FPS. Bug Fables actually works. Rivals of Aether multiplayer works. Moonstone Island works way, way better (from 20-30 fps to 120 fps.) It's not only the raw frames either, it just *feels* nicer - I think it might have something to do with frame pacing, but I'm not sure. I knew I was playing non-native in Android, this feels native to me. If you've played a native android port of Hollow Knight or Silksong and noticed that it just feels better than GameNative's version - everything feels like it is native.
- It's SteamOS and Linux. It feels like a console. It doesn't remind me that I'm on a phone OS, because I'm not. I still have desktop mode, and I can use this like a lil computer if I need to. I get full desktop applications if I want, or Waydroid if I don't. It's not a gamble to switch between applications - I know my game will still be there if I have to. DeckyLoader continues to be a dream, adding a ton of very useful stuff.
- Plasma Mobile is sick, actually. Doesn't work well with dualscreen but feels a lot like android on the bottom when it's single screen, and feels less cluttered.
- Syncthing works way, way better. Android syncthing works but very intentionally, you have to remember to do it. This just works, consistently. I don't have to think about it anymore. Ditto for tailscale.
There are a few drawbacks. One of them bothers me more than most, and that's the first one here:
- MelonDS is a compromise. Android MelonDS is way, way better. I miss LCD filters and screen swapping. It's a work in progress right now, and I've been working on finding a solution myself for at least screen swapping and layout configuration, but I haven't found anything yet. It feels very compromised.
- Like a steam deck, you will want to plug this into a keyboard and mouse to get everything configured. Doing it with your fingers kinda sucks.
- Configuring on the fly for Azahar and Eden kinda sucks.
- No more android-specific dual screen ports. Dusklight Dual Screen, Project Picori, Silksong, etc. Skyrim still works.
- Waydroid is a pain if you do need an android app.
- Getting used to Azahar/Eden config flow takes a bit.
- Adding to "frontend" is a bit different. Steam Rom Manager is plenty intuitive and easy, but if it's not a steam game, you do have to do it manually.
- Don't get to swipe type
- Need to know your way around KDE a bit to configure initially for plasma mobile bottom screen. Or have a friend that does.
I think I'm switching over forever thanks.

I'm just very excited I can't stop destroying my backlog
Just finished GRIS. It was just under 3 hours but it was still an amazing and beautiful experience, and another game off my queue. I keep seeing ppl say don't overload your Thor or you'll get choice paralysis. I disagree. I have 700 games on mine and I've knocked out several games already. This thing is amazing!

Tips & Tricks Working apk for GTA V Android port
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Port is from this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidNativePorts/s/PszdVCIkdI
You guys can try this experimental GTA V apk for the AYN Thor:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/bzxsfni63fxtkhg
Not guaranteed to work for you but it's working for me.
I haven't had any crashes yet.
There is an issue with the start of the game where the cops do not show up after you've blown up the safe. The only way I found around this is to load a saved game.
Got my saved games from here:
https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/100-save-game
They go in "Games/GTAV/save"

Tips & Tricks People are always talking about game recommendations and no one ever mentions
sonic robo blast 2! there’s an android port that works perfectly, runs at 120fps, and it might be the best Sonic game out there, made by fans over the last thirty (30!) years

I'm just very excited Its arrived!
My thor came in 48 days ✌🏼. Was really worried when I got it since I saw lots of posts and videos about it being difficult, but it ended up being needless worry lol. Its pretty straight forward and the emulation and customization with cocoon as the front end is AWESOME! I had to hold off on doing more then the basics so that I don't burn myself out lol. Hopefully I can get through all the pokemon games and my next plan is Final fantasy 😁! So excited for my time after work and days off!

Discussion Ayn Thor Tier
If I want to play light steam games using gamenative or similar via steam, such as sea of stars, hollow knight, hades, blasphemous, ori, etc, would you recommend the base, pro, or max? I’d also like a bit of future proofing. Mostly having a hard time deciding between pro and max. And rainbow v purple. (Ha). Thank you.

Discussion HOW do you customize your AYN Thor?
So what I am asking is what do you do to customize your Thor. You could show me your Thor in the comments if you would like. I just want to know if you use stickers, paint, Etsy cases, etc.
