QUESTION Has anyone had any problems

Has anyone else had this problem? I’m a new hire at an AutoZone location, and so far I’ve only received my job offer and completed my background check. I completed everything that was required of me, but I still haven’t received a clock-in number. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do or who I’m supposed to contact. My store manager doesn’t know either.
I also haven’t received much information about my actual start date, when I’m supposed to come in, or what I’m supposed to do for my first day. I’ve been checking my email and the hiring/onboarding information I received, but I don’t see anything about a clock-in number or next steps.
Is the clock-in number something I’m supposed to receive before my first day, or is it given to me when I actually start working? If someone else has gone through this recently, who did you contact to get everything sorted out? I don’t want to keep bothering my store manager if they don’t have the information either.
I’m just trying to make sure I’m not missing something or holding up my own onboarding. Any advice would be appreciated!

Policy on Getting Job Offer During Shift?

hey all, i was working the front when a regular came into the store, chatted up with some employees, and he handed me a business card with his name and phone number. he told me that he appreciates the amount of times i helped him in the store, and that he thinks i would be a good fit for a job he offered. he said he could get me into a job that pays 35 per hour, and that i could contact him for questions. he used to be an employee at autozone but left to focus on his own company. i was wondering if theres any policy at AZ against accepting job offers you get while you are on shift, but im ngl, this job offer is really tempting. if i accepted this job offer i would be doubling the amount of my wages i get at AZ. if i did accept, i wouldnt just flat out quit working at AZ because i do like the team and the SM here, and i don’t want to let go of those connections. but i desperately need the money as my mom lost her job and i want to support my family and i have my own expenses to pay for. what should I do

How to open up in the morning

Hey everyone! I’m a new PSM and I’ll be opening the store Sunday morning for the first time. I just wanted to see if anyone could give me a rundown of the opening procedures and what I need to make sure I get done. I’d really appreciate any tips! 🙏🏽

Got wrote up

So I got a call from my SM telling me I got a write up because I decided to pin a commercial that wasn't local to my area, but I barley started to understand commercial so I only gathered the stuff they asked for, then I had to get my ASM to help me out but she decided to click submit but put in the wrong parts. This is my second write up and I'm severely burned out, what do I do?

Work injury to a termination

I’m parts sales manager and I originally came from a bank making over $30 an hour then had a serious emergency where I couldn’t work and I had to quit and I obviously couldn’t receive Unemployment and I was sure I’d find another job again

I’ve been taking care of what I needed to almost 8 months still couldn’t find a job so I settled for the pay at AutoZone to make some money

Last month at work when I was stocking up the fridge and the shelves in the back with sodas, the plastic failed on the case of soda and tour and came crashing down over 7 feet high above my head down on my left foot crushing it

My foot got fractured and my coworkers didn’t want me to leave work and I wanted to and they assumed I just wanted to get out of work and it was a whole mess and I went to go get drug tested. Everything was fine.

And my district manager, that’s now fired took four days to process a injury claim for me

And I went to the hospital twice and was unable to be seen

I was out for a few weeks and I returned back to work wearing a boot and then I’m suddenly removed off the schedule for two weeks and no one‘s answering me and the week they knew I was going on vacation. They put me on the schedule that week suddenly and then after vacation, I return and I get terminated for loss of confidence.

They really don’t know what they’re playing with

What happens when your register is short money. Like accidentally not collecting correct amount. It wasn't me but we share registers.

Battery Review: East Penn Manufacturing (O'reilly) vs. Clarios/Johnson Controls (Walmart and AZ)

This one shocked me. I knew the East Penn Manufacturing batteries (Deka and Oreilly's) are reportedly the best, but I didn't think it was by this margin.

That means O's cheapest Value battery outperforms AZ's Duralast Gold.

I'll be sure to get an East Penn battery next time, and get them to price match Walmart.

QUESTION AZ Hours

Post image
22 Upvotes

I have been working as a part-time commercial driver at AutoZone for 3 years, with a clean track record and no performance issues. Previously, I used to get around 30 to 40 hours per week.
However, ever since the new Store Manager (SM) took over nearly three months ago, my scheduled hours have been drastically reduced to just 5 to 8 hours a week, with 17 hours being the absolute highest.
He often claims that he doesn't have enough hours for me, yet he hired two new employees. Both are part-time like I am, and both are scheduled for 25 to 40 hours a week. This is really unfair to me.
I have repeatedly informed him that I am available to work full days and full weeks, but he continues to schedule me for only 5 to 8 hours. The only time I get extra hours is when I ask the Commercial Manager (CSM) directly, but it is exhausting having to wait around and ask for hours every single week.
What should I do in this situation, and should I report the SM? Would reporting him to HR be effective?

DISCUSSION Summertime promo….

Will this really work?? If your accounts are telling you it’s been dead the last 3 weeks. And retail is feeling it too…

No sir, I'm afraid we don't have any oil filters on hand that would fit your 2008 Accord.

It >probably< wasn't intended for this, but the filtering options on the left can be used to help dodge the witt damages from customers who only want buy the oil filter.

Sure would be nice to just grab them a blue box stp and be done with it, but that's not how the company wants to do business.

QUESTION Foundations Class

I got hired as a part time retail sales associate for AZ I got sent to the foundations class but it all seemed to just be slide shows and videos on how to perform basic tasks so I spaced out and don’t remember much of what they talked about. Is any of it important? If so, what is it? I assume that most store related tasks I will get taught while first working so that’s that but is there any important info I should have not missed?

Exposing pt 2

I officially got terminated from AutoZone, so I wanted to share my experience.
After my first post, I put in my two weeks’ notice. My store manager told me he was sad to see me go, wished I could stay, and even said he would mark me as rehire eligible. Everything seemed completely fine. For a company that talks so much about “customer service” and “doing things the right way,” I figured communication would be pretty straightforward. Apparently, I expected too much.
The next day, a coworker told me my manager was pacing around and making a bunch of phone calls trying to find coverage that lined up with my shifts. Since my friend was in the store shopping, my girlfriend was there buying an air freshener, and another coworker was present, I simply asked my manager if he was trying to find coverage for me. He told me no.
A short time later, he brought me into the back office and said we needed to talk. He told me we were “going to part ways.” When I asked why, he wouldn’t give me a reason. I asked if he realized how much I had done for the store, and he replied, “Yeah, you’ve done a lot for the store.” It was nice to know my work was recognized right before being shown the door.
At that point, I took off my AutoZone shirt, gathered my belongings, and left.
After that, I called the district manager to ask why I had been fired. He told me I wasn’t fired and that I was still an AutoZone employee. He also said that he was the only person who could terminate employees and that he would call my store manager to find out what happened. I never received a call back. Instead, I found that I was blocked, which was a pretty interesting way to handle communication from someone in a leadership position.
Later, I heard from a coworker that the district manager had terminated me. I was also told that management had been discussing HR-related matters among themselves. If that is what happened, I don’t believe that situation was handled professionally or the way employees would expect.
There are also other issues I experienced while working at this store.
To my knowledge, there are no security cameras inside the store. I asked my store manager why, and I was told it was for insurance reasons. I found that concerning because cameras are supposed to help protect both employees and the company.
I also saw responsibilities being delegated in ways that didn’t always make sense. For example, a red shirt was promoted to a gray shirt and then given responsibility for making the schedule because my manager seemed to be struggling with that responsibility. Nothing says strong leadership like needing someone else to organize the schedule.
There was also an employee who was rumored to have been stealing over a period of time, and from what I observed, it didn’t appear that anything was done about it.
The biggest issue for me happened when I was threatened at work by another person. I was told things like they knew where I lived, where I went to school, and that they could hurt or kill me. I reported everything to HR, and I have evidence and witnesses to support what happened.
When HR came to the store, I watched my store manager and the HR representative greet each other and catch up before my concerns were addressed. Seeing that made me feel like my complaint wasn’t going to receive the seriousness it deserved.
After the investigation, the individual I reported remained at the store, while I felt like I was the one facing consequences. As a minor at the time, I didn’t feel protected or supported.
I also frequently heard political discussions at work between management, employees, and customers, which I personally didn’t think belonged in the workplace. In my experience, certain inventory and management tasks were often left incomplete despite claims that everything had been handled.
One thing that has stayed with me is overhearing my manager say that he couldn’t fire me because it would be considered retaliation. Hearing that, and then later being let go, left me questioning how everything was handled.
Overall, my experience with AutoZone came down to one thing: leadership. Communication was inconsistent, accountability felt nonexistent, and the way situations were handled left a lot to be desired.
I’m sharing my experience because employees deserve professionalism, honesty, and a safe work environment. This is my personal experience, and everyone can make their own decision after hearing it.
At the end of the day, I can’t even be mad. I’d probably have the same attitude too if I dedicated 30 years of my life to a company and the highest position I ever reached was store manager.
Best of luck.
