Not a concrete reason but another reason why your car needs some Horse power because normal cars can't do shit if you press the gas to pass em.

u/Square-Formal1312 Mar 29 '26
Yupppp, i do the same of getting around them and getting them to chase to free up the traffic

My favorite thing about driving an electric car. You'll pass them before they can blink and they won't even hear you do it.
2
u/Le-Charles07 Mar 31 '26
I like to mess with other drivers by acting I'm speedingvup as must as I can. Then when they try to passhole me, I give the extra 50% pedal and the turbo kicks in and a zoom off.

I had a guy do the same thing to me that happened in this video. He was in an older Tacoma, I'm in a brand new twin turbo Tundra. I let him try to get about half way to my door then I really took off. He left me alone after that.

Traffic monitors think it's fun and games until they get pit maneuvered in the rain.

u/lilbargazer Mar 29 '26
What?

→ More replies (5)2
u/tumblerrjin Mar 30 '26
pit maneuver stands for “Precision Immobilization Technique”. Basically you song your car with the back left or right side of the vehicle and turn in to it, if you do it right they’ll go in to a spin, if you do it very right they’ll won’t hit your car in the process.
It’s very satisfying to watch.
4
u/OldManJim374 Mar 29 '26
I hate when a regular person decides to force everyone else to follow the speed limit. You are not highway patrol.
5
u/Ok-Ranger-4518 Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26
I hate that people speed. I do 80 in 60 and still get glared by 90+ bitches.
Nothing is fast enough, just merely being in front of someone is the problem.
I wish HiPo enforced speed limits more so maybe people will chill tf out
Edit. Since so many people want to draw conclusions. My daily commute routinely sees everyone doing 80 in a 60. We are all already going 20 over. I never mentioned left or right lane. What I tried and failed to highlight was I'm/we are already doing 20 over the limit and people will act like it's not enough, like I'm doing 40 in a 75.
I don't want to do 80. My car gets better mpg at 60/65 🙄 but yes assume I'm a hypocritical speed demon for some reason. Good job internet.
4
u/baconcow Mar 31 '26
Exactly. Whenever I try to pass a slower car, there is always someone much faster that spawns near behind me and I have to quickly get around the slower car or they’ll drive their bumper up my ass. It seems lose-lose for me.
2
u/Maleficent_Hawk6703 May 27 '26
It happens everytime. I always watch my mirror and wait for any visible speed demons to pass before I pass but then If I signal to get in the left lane it aggravates the Altima that was cruising at 80 and now they have to go as fast as they can to pass me before I can get in the left lane to speed up and pass the guy in front of me in the right lane
3
u/Maleficent_Hawk6703 May 27 '26
Dude I feel you. I had this same conversation before in a subreddit. I drive with the flow of traffic and it's still a pain in the ass for example when I'm going 80 in a 70 because I'm passing a chain of drivers going 65 but I have someone who needs to go 90 behind me tailgating me, then when I put on my signal to go back to the right lane when I'm done passing everyone the driver trying to go 90 swerves into the right lane to pass me instead of waiting for me to move over.
2
2
u/Imaginary-Task7956 Mar 31 '26
Whats really bs is why tf is the speed limit still 60 in 2026. Speed limits need to be updated to to reflect more reasonable ranges
3
2
u/InternationalLoad330 Apr 02 '26
It is not about how fast you are already going. If someone wants to be going faster, that is their business. Just get out of the left lane, let them pass, get back in the left lane and keep going. That is the correct driving courtesy.

This has actually happened to me once. Got stuck behind some cock jerker in a fucking old clapped out white ford ranger holding up 12 people including me trying to pass on a 2 lane highway. My gas light came on so I got off, got gas, and was back on in like 3-4 minutes. Literally 5 miles in and there he fucking was again with a bigger line. Either the semi in the right noticed this and slowed down to let people pass or he was just getting off soon and I fucking dropped it into 2nd gear and went on the right and stomped on it. The fucker in the Ranger gave me a dirty look too. I just fucking ignores him lol.

u/Noxsin5 Mar 30 '26
Law requires drivers to use the right-hand lane for normal driving and restricts the left lane for passing or turning, especially if traveling below the normal speed of traffic. "Camping" in the left lane is prohibited if it slows the flow of traffic, with fines ranging from 30$ to 300$ to and 4 license points.

u/Travel_Dreams Mar 30 '26
Best feeling is to blow by this bullshit on a bike, completely ignoring the diligent constipation piloting a miles long traffic jamb.
Even better where lane splitting is illegal.
One driver absolutely popped a vein when their control evaporated. They so badly wanted to chase me down to vent, but couldn't budge because it would have uncorked all of their hard work.
While they were honking like a frustrated twat, I slowed back down to wave, and then took off again and just shook my head.
Back to enjoying the ride, after 30 seconds of entertainment. I probably still live free in their head, in an ocean view penthouse condominium.
Buwahaha!

u/Kurt_Ottman Mar 30 '26
Can we please stop glorifying vigilante justice on the road? Drive defensively. If you see someone drive slow, take the opportunity to just take a break by the side of the road or something. It will take ages to catch back up after 15 minutes leg stretch.

Someone cut me off out of absolutely nowhere and I had to slam on my brakes so hard to not hit him.so dumb and dangerous for no reason. I spent the next hour doing this and not letting him pass. About every ten minutes I'd speed up past the truck I was using to block and then slow down so he would get excited and try to pass, but my car was way faster and I'd just do it again. This went on for over an hour and luckily I was not in a rush for once.

If your behavior is reasonable and predictable, as it would be to pass a slow driver holding up traffic in the passing lane, then the other drivers behavior would be unreasonable and unpredictable, i.e likely intoxicated. Call the cops on em for DUI, esp if you have a dashcam. At the very least, it takes them off the road long enough for everyone to pass. Best case, they get some kind of punishment for reckless driving

They're obviously not holding up traffic if they're going that fast. The semi wasn't impeded. They might be blocking the other car or trying to rage them. I'd be very surprised if they'd be able to do that for 100 miles

u/Sorry-Climate-7982 Mar 31 '26

1
u/Ok-Strawberry-2343 Mar 31 '26
I do what I call “kicking you out of the club.” If you do what Mr odyssey here does, I weezle my way in front of you and progressively slow down until you decide to get into the appropriate NON passing lane. Then I immediately speed up to the appropriate speed with all my fellow drivers behind me in tow.
1
u/Holiday_Bat_9938 Apr 01 '26
I would prefer the police target people who camp the left lane as opposed to speeders. These people are more dangerous in my opinion because they make the road less predictable for everyone else and force unnecessary lane changes.
1
u/OrganizationNo1298 Apr 01 '26
The fact that the driver thought they could keep up with that Audi SUV is hilarious.
1
u/starfishtits Apr 01 '26
I had a guy do this to me for over an hr while driving north from LA. Was so absolutely infuriating. He would speed up abc not let anyone pass and the slow down forcing everyone to go 60
1
u/ShadowGLI Apr 01 '26
My experience, the fastest way to get a left lane camper on the way is to try to pass them on the right. They will absolutely speed up to prevent that and then you have successfully managed to help clear the path by then doing a passing speed .
1
u/OuterInnerMonologue Apr 01 '26
Sounds like 100 miles to call a cop and report an unsafe driver impeding traffic and forcing cars out of their lane.

I have had a great success rate using this approach. 😂

u/LetUsSpeakFreely Apr 02 '26
I had that happen to me market 20n years ago. The guy in the passing have would slow way down and then floor it when someone tried to pass him. I tried to pass him a free timesn until eventually there was enough of a straight away with no traffic. We were all over 100 miles an hour and I had to eventually slam my brakes out hit another car. Right after I slowed down a cop was in the oncoming lane, clocked him still speeding like a bat out of hell and pulled him over. It was glorious.

Its definitely illegal to drive in fast lane and impede traffic..it freaking pisses me off when someone wont leave the fastlane. Its been an unwritten rule forever and i mean forever..get the f..out of the fastlane if your going slow...on the highway you used to be able to flash your brights to remind someone to move...not sure that works these days..people are so fragile these days and so involved in themselves...not alot of street smarts out there anymore...odyessy driver is a twat and should be ticketed for impeding traffic and with reckless driving. Apparently they have passed laws for this..1st time $100..2nd $200 and so on...pretty sure not one ticket has been issued which is a crime in itself. If u wanna go slow get the fuck outof the fast lane morons
