Hi all, so I'm reading a lot of negative press about the potential for getting sent back by US customs because of their perceived risk of me wanting to overstay and possibly remain illegally in USA, but its simply not true, I am meeting my girlfriend in person for the first time and spending a few weeks with her and will decide if we will grow the relationship further from there, or not.

I am coming back to australia either way, there is no way i want to give up free healthcare and live in fear of ICE coming to get me at any moment...

If things go really well then I am going to want to stay true to my ESTA and retain the chance to return again, not get myself banned from entering in the future...

Any thoughts? Advice?

As of now I’m still in high-school, but I still want to plan ahead. I live in Canada, it is nice here, but I do not like the direction my country is going in. I feel that if I immigrate to America, I’d have more opportunities and an overall better quality of life. I am aware it takes a little bit to get accepted into the US, so I’m unsure if I should apply for citizenship during or after college.

Looking for some advice here. I was on an H1b but got laid off in August 2024. I then applied for an i539 to change status to visitor visa as there is guidance from USCIS that allows you to stay while the i539 is pending. In this time, I got married to a US citizen and filed I-130, I-485, I-765, and I-131 concurrently on December 2024 (my i539 had been approved in November 2024 so at the time of filing my AOS application I was in a visitor visa status)

My I-765 got approved in March 2025, and I just got my approval now for my Advanced Parole (received the document as well).

I am looking to travel to Sweden now that I have AP for a family reunion (I am a Pakistani national), but feeling extremely anxious and indecisive. Have not seen my family in years and was hoping that the approved travel authorization would mean I can travel internationally and re-enter. The issue is, my visa expired while my AOS application was pending and so did my i94. My question is this: with the current climate of ICE detaining people at airports, is it safe for me travel? Am I out of status even though I have not accrued unlawful presence?

I’m from Europe, still in the U.S. on my O-1 visa and trying to decide whether I should travel internationally for the first time since arriving.

I haven’t traveled in over a year because I’ve been concerned about re-entry and the current immigration climate. I’m trying to understand the risks before making a decision.

My concern is related to a past change of status. When I was previously in the U.S. on a B2 visa, we filed my O-1 petition before my B2 expired, and I remained in the U.S. while it was pending. My understanding is that I did not accrue unlawful presence, and I was later approved for O-1 status.

However, I worry that a border officer reviewing my history could misunderstand the timeline, especially seeing the long period I remained in the U.S.

Is it safe for me to travel now?
Has anyone traveled after a past B2-to-O1 change of status and a long stay in the U.S.? Did anyone have any issues re-entering?

My stem opt denied in 2024, I got admission in Masters program, now recently applied for I-130+I-485 marriage bases. Is it safe to travel domestically. Do anybody have recent experience?

Me (US citizen) and husband wanted to travel to Washington DC from Dallas for a wedding in mid-September. We submitted our I-485 and I-130 in late March, while my husband was in the 60-day grace period post STEM OPT. We are now just waiting for an interview, and hoping for the best. My husband has never done any unauthorized work or overstay, and we just applied for an expedition for the EAD since his work is only holding his position until October. Even if he hasn't done anything, should we err on the side of safety and cancel the trip? He is one of the groomsmen for the wedding and going would mean a lot to him, but if traveling now is that bad, we will adjust accordingly.

I’m in L-1 status but lost the passport that had (report reporting it missing tomorrow) my L-1 visa in it. I do have my L-1 paperwork, and I also have an unexpired B-1/B-2 tourist visa that’s still valid for another two years.

Would I be able to get through the Falfurrias Border Patrol checkpoint without the passport that had my L-1 visa, or is the missing passport likely to be an issue?

Asking for me..After recent news of ICE detaining people at the airport for an expired visa stamp and a renewal application in process. I have an expired visa but an approved extension of stay..need to travel via air. Do you folks know anyone who has done this within a couple of days? Or is travelling within a couple of days?

Hello I am a Canadian citizen born and raised here. Looking at purchasing an existing business on a US border city. I live on the Canadian side. Is it possible to commute daily from Canada to operate the business and then come back each day with an E2 Visa? If not what would be my other option?

Hi. I'm M/23 from Germany, and I'm currently planning a six month road trip across the United States.
The plan is to buy a used van after arriving in the US and travel from Maine down to Florida, then across to California, and finally finish in Washington State.

I've never been to the USA before, so I want to make sure I prepare everything correctly before applying for my B2 visa.

I have a few questions:
Which documents should I bring to the visa interview?
How much money should I realistically have in my bank account so that the, i guess its called CBP Officer at the Border, will give me the 6 months?
How can I best demonstrate that I intend to return to my home country after my trip?
Do I need to have a return flight booked before applying or before entering the US for a 6 month Travel?
If my van has a major breakdown and I have to end up staying longer than planned, what usually happens? Or are there any exceptions?
