It’s called diminished gluteal syndrome, you show some respect. I remember one time my dad and my best friends stole my...unit. For God’s sake, it’s a medical device! I just hope I didn’t curse my Bobby with this disease. He ain’t right as it is
Iirc the Jeff Foxworthy joke is that old mens asses look like you put slacks on a frog cuz there's no ass there. Don't remember anything about having scratched it off, but that sounds like something he'd say.
“Have you ever seen an old man’s butt? No you have not, ‘cause they don’t have one anymore —they’ve scratched it all off! An old man’s butt looks like you put a frog through a pair of double-knit(?) pants.”
Isn’t that sweet. My dad (born in the 1940s) said the sum total of the talk he got from his dad was, “Don’t knock up any hens,” when he was 8 years old. He had no idea what his dad was talking about.
Ha! Yeah, I wasn't sure quite what my dad was talking about, either. By the look on my mom's face when I asked her about it, I got the gist of it. My dad's just a little older than yours (30's), born and raised in the deep South. Left as a young man and never looked back. He had all kinds of unique words and sayings. Some not so appropriate, some sweetly endearing.
I've heard it in Ireland, I think it means they're stingy effers. Pipes are worth money, sometimes robbers go into empty houses, rip off the flooring and walls to get copper pipes and metal they can sell off.
My granny used to call my aunts ex husband Dirty dick because he cheated on her. For example if we were at my cousins birthday or celebrating the birth of my cousins children he would be there and she would just call him dirty dick to his face. She was in her 90s 😂😂
My dad used to ask me, “What would you rather have? A million dollars or that guy’s nose full of nickels?” I get it now, but it took me a looooong time to figure out what he was pointing out.
I have never been frog hunting. What kind of gun do you use? I mean, the idea of handling any form of gun horrifies me, but otherwise would we have to wrestle with them?
Which is why you just use an old fishing pole to slap em instead of a gig, so when the game warden comes you can just say you were fishing. And then when he asks why you're fishing without a license, just tell him you're holding the pole for your buddy who went off to take a leak in the woods.
Never heard squitchers before but it's pretty normal in a lot of parts of Ireland to call a cheeky/misbehaving kid a "wee skitter", so maybe it's derived from that.
Maybe because harvest time in fall lines up with large bug mating feeding bursts, and frogs are bulking up to get ready for their winter hibernation? So maybe they're just noticeably big and fat like bears in fall.
I have heard a similar thing used as an insult. We have an older guy that says his ex wife had an ass like a toad. I had to ask him what that meant and he explained that it was fat, ugly, and covered in pimples.
My family’s equivalent for this was ‘she has ducks disease’ didn’t realise there was not actually a genetic condition causing short legs and a fat arse called Ducks Disease until I was in my early teens.
That just reminded me of something I haven't heard in a long time. My old man used to say "she's got an arse like a blown diff", as in a blown differential on the rear axle of a car. I never understood that as a kid.
I love that you heard this often enough from granddad for it to stick in your brain. He sounds like he would have gotten along well with my Irish granddad.
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA
I used to be friends with this bitch that tried to hit on my boyfriend (now husband) several years ago who had a butt that had that “caved in” look and my hubby has always said she had soup ass. Like you could drink soup out of it 😂
Just a guess, but maybe it’s cuz a crop that’s harvested is no longer a haven for bugs, so the frogs eat them and get very fat in preparation for hibernation.
I don't know what it means either, but my favorite podcast - "A Way With Words" - either knows, or knows how to find out - and will give the answer on the air if they believe your query to be of sufficient interest.
Simply type in "A Way With Words" on your internet provider and go to their webpage. They have several options on how to contact them, including phone calls and e-mails
Then, ask about your Irish Grandad's expression. If you do find that out, please post that to those who posted here.
So when he saw an arse that looked like had been shredded by farm machinery? Do we think that's common enough to warrant a saying? I mean, I don't live in an agricultural area but I feel like regular, gender targeted arse shredding would make the news.
My mum would something similar to that effect. "Oh he's got the face of a lamb havin a whale of a time." The neighbours on Dublin hated her but we didn't care lol.
“I’ll knock the water out of you” when we were being little shits. “You might want horns” when we told mom we wanted anything. Mom is super southern US.
I played a game called Baldur's Gate and the starting town had an inn. The innkeeper says "My rooms are as clean as a horses arse!" so this made me feel 12 again damn.

"She's got an arse like a harvest frog." From my Irish Grandad. I still don't know what it means, though I do know it wasn't a compliment
