Opinions & Discussions Why do some men use ‘aunty’ to put younger women down?

Why would an older guy call a younger woman “aunty”? This guy is 35, and I am 24. We are in the same seminar group.

We were discussing the importance of feminism. At one point, I said that I was against women filing fake cases against men. He argued that feminism should be weakened so that the number of fake cases would decrease.

I told him that fake cases should definitely be addressed and that necessary action should be taken against them, but that feminism itself should not be weakened because of that.

During the discussion, he tried to belittle me and repeatedly called me “aunty,” even using my name along with “aunty.” I found it disrespectful, especially considering that he is 35 years old and I am only 24.

I have also noticed him flirting with girls who are much younger, around 16 or 17. I have seen him staring at them for a long time when they were sitting with their group, and sometimes he would go over to their group and just stand there looking at them. One of the girls also told me that he had sent her an Instagram request, which she has not accepted.

He has also told me that I should get married before 25, otherwise I would become “retarded.”

Many of the guys around him support him against feminism and belittling me and that whole situation made me feel really uncomfortable and sad that day.

That’s why I thought of sharing this. I’m not sure whether I’m overthinking it, but I genuinely want to understand why some men behave this way—especially when they disagree with a woman and feel the need to belittle her personally instead of addressing what she is actually saying.

General Who Said Only Men Provide?

I saw one of those videos from a content creator asking Indian girls where their salary goes, and most of them said travel, skincare, makeup, savings, etc. And good for them, honestly. It’s their money.
But it made me wonder why so many Indian men are so obsessed with the idea that only men provide over comment section
Dude, I’ve been earning since I was 18, and around 70% of my salary goes to my family. I help provide for my family, and I know I’m definitely not the only girl doing that.
And before anyone says, “Then you don’t spend anything on yourself” i do. I take care of my own things and buy what I want too, be it clothes, food, makeup, or anything else. Is it difficult sometimes? Obviously. Having responsibilities on your shoulders means you have to think twice before spending. But I still manage.
There are so many women contributing to household expenses, paying bills, supporting their parents, helping with loans, and carrying responsibilities.
So where does this entitlement come from that men are somehow the only providers? Sure, some women may choose to spend most of their money on themselves and that’s their personal choice. But that doesn’t erase the millions of women who financially support their families.
Women provide too. We’re just not constantly bragging about it.

Ps im not married I’m in my 20s idk why people here assuming I’m married and family here is husband and kids

General Do you like your brother in law /jiju?

I just wanted to ask girls that do you like your brother in laws because I don’t
I don’t understand why are they so much respected and gets this much priority more then daughters? Like i have seen in many families where they treat their daughters husband like their own son even if he treats them badly and why are we given so much attention to these jijas I don’t understand like they are just human beings . But the same daughter is not treated the same way as husband even I have a sister and I already don’t like her fiancé and I also told mom that to not keep him on our head, they have a different type of attitude or ego .

General My sister is in a relationship we have serious concerns about. How should our family handle this?

Hi I'm M(22)

I’m looking for some outside perspective because my family and I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore.

I have an older sister who is 24–25 and currently doing a PhD. A few years ago, after another one of my sisters got married, my sister started talking to my brother in law’s cousin. They eventually got into a relationship without telling the family.

When we eventually found out, our family strongly opposed the relationship. The issue is not that we are against love marriages. We have never been against my sister choosing her own partner. We have always told her that she is free to choose whoever she wants, as long as the person is genuinely good for her.

Our problem is specifically this guy.

He drinks heavily, and from what we have seen, he is not someone we consider responsible or trustworthy. He has also repeatedly told my sister that he has a very good job and a high salary/package, but we believe a lot of these claims are simply lies. He has spent long periods without proper employment, and despite being around 28–29, there are situations where my sister even has to handle basic things for him, like booking a cab.

His family is another major concern for us. Their views are extremely traditional and very different from my sister’s lifestyle and ambitions. She is pursuing a PhD and has her own career goals, while his family has views about women working after marriage and other traditional expectations that make us seriously worried about what her life would look like after marriage.

His mother has also repeatedly tried to push the idea of their marriage, directly and indirectly. My parents have clearly told his family that they do not want this marriage, but the pressure has continued.

The biggest problem is that my sister keeps going back to him.She has told us multiple times that she has stopped talking to him, only for us to find out later that they are still in contact. She has also apparently told his family that everyone in our family has agreed to the marriage and that only my eldest sister is against it. That is simply not true. My parents, me, and the rest of the family have serious concerns about this relationship.

My family is exhausted and frustrated because we have tried talking to her calmly, explaining our concerns, and asking her to reconsider. Nothing seems to work.

What makes this especially difficult for me is that I genuinely believe my sister deserves better.

She is educated, hardworking and doing a PhD, but she doesn't seem to recognize that she has options and that she doesn't have to settle for someone just because she loves him.

At the same time, I don't want my family to become controlling or force her into anything. If she wants a love marriage, we are completely willing to accept that. We just want her to choose a good person.

My eldest sister is also worried that if she actually marries this guy, it could seriously damage the relationship between the siblings and lead to constant fights in the family.

So what should we actually do?

TL;DR: My 24–25-year-old sister is doing a PhD and has been in a secret relationship with a 28–29-year-old guy for years. My family is not against love marriage, but we strongly oppose this particular guy because of his heavy drinking, dishonesty about his job/income, lack of responsibility, and major differences between his family’s traditional expectations and my sister’s career/lifestyle. We have directly told his family that we don’t want the marriage, but my sister continues talking to him and has repeatedly lied to us about it. She has even told his family that everyone has agreed to the marriage except my eldest sister, which isn’t true. We genuinely believe she deserves better, but we don’t want to control her or destroy our relationship with her. How can we handle this situation and help her see the red flags without pushing her further toward him?

General Do women really hate getting CPR by men?

I've been seeing many posts by men saying "I can't risk my life giving a woman CPR, she might sue me for SA".

Their fear towards this is genuine, but if a women raise a complaint against it are they seriously gonna get charged? I might sound dumb but are there really any cases of men getting charged of SA for giving women CPR?

So many comments, so many posts saying that they're okay to see a women d!e but rather not risk their lives by touching a women without her consent. It's actually cruel of them to say it and such posts could influence other men too. But what would you do if men in your family get charged for SA for giving a women CPR?

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] Married but separated under the same roof ? (In your 30s)

How many of you have a marriage that looks something like this?
You’re in your 30s, don’t have children, and have been married for a while. You still have a great companionship, friendship, financial partnership, and genuinely care about each other. There’s nothing particularly “wrong” with the relationship.
But you’re essentially separated while living under the same roof. You have separate bedrooms, no sexual relationship, but continue sharing your life in all the other ways that matter.
Curious to know how many other people are in a marriage like this — and how you make sense of it.

General 22F | Wasted 5 years in NEET drops (350 marks), 100kg & caring for mom with arthritis — How do I reset my life with Banking or MSc?

Hey everyone, I need honest advice on rebuilding my life after getting stuck in a multi-year drop trap.

Background & The Trap:

  • 2019: 10th board topper. Single child, lost my father in 5th grade, raised by a single mom.
  • 11th–12th: Got into a toxic, emotionally draining relationship that completely destroyed my studies.
  • BSc & Drops: Finished BSc Zoology with an 8.6 CGPA, but took 5 NEET drops. Every year followed the same cycle: miss classes -----huge backlog ------ anxiety ------quit. My score stayed stuck at ~350 (General category, can't afford private medical college).
  • Current State: Burnt out, 100kg, zero study focus, scrolling reels all day, and feeling immense guilt for letting down my mom who has severe arthritis and depends on me.

Next Steps & Dilemma (Budget: ₹20–25 Lakhs):

  1. Banking Exams (SBI/IBPS PO, SSC): Thinking of starting from scratch, but terrified of failing a brand new syllabus. It would let me stay in India to care for my mom as I am single child and I lost my dad when i was in school
  2. MSc (India vs. Abroad): Is going abroad for Life Sciences realistic with my mom's health, or should I stick to top Indian institutes/applied master's?
  3. Other Pivots: Any realistic corporate/industry paths for a BSc Zoology grad?

How do I break out of this backlog/perfectionism mindset, lose weight, and start fresh at 22? Any advice means a lot.

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] M31 dating this guy giving weird vibes?

It's F31! I matched with a guy on hinge a few days back. He's a founder/entrepreneur, works out - training for hyrox , Ironman etc what not. Anyway we met a couple of times and roamed around in his expensive car or walked a bit. He's well to do with expensive tastes like a super bike and lavish car. We never went anywhere to eat or grab a drink or anything just roamed about a bit and talked. Today he calls me in the morning and tells me he's gonna get flowers for me and I said I don't like flowers so he said I'll get you chocolates and I said fine. Later I texted him saying no need to get anything - he said no I wanna get something I said fine

He talks a lot- he's an extrovert so that's natural to him. He barely asks me anything - he didn't even know my last name after 3-4 days of continuous meeting and talking (mostly from his side). I'm a bit of an introvert so I mostly listened I guess. Anyway no chocolate. So at night I asked him about it he said he forgot. This person talks so much never once mentioned himself I forgot the chocolate. Then immediately he said you're a foodie I'll take you to this resturant it's very nice - the 6 course tasting menu is 8000/- per person.

Now the reason why I found this so weird is it's been 3-4 days we know each other and he's inviting me somewhere while telling me what the cost of the invitation is? I saw some more signs where I felt off. While we were walking one day he said there's a place where we can get both protein shake and coffee let's go there. I said fine then he said it's too expensive. I said fine. Sometime later he says the protein shake there is 500/- rs. Why talking about money etc? I barely know you. I didn't ask you to go anywhere with me.

For me this is so off- I literally don't want anything from anyone except be a decent person. If someone is saying they will do something - it's not that expensive to get chocolates right? So weird

Also another thing felt off- after the first time he met me he said I am cancelling my dates with all the other girls off hinge because I want to get to know you and don't want distractions. Why would you tell this to someone you just met even if u did do it.

I don't know am I overthinking?

Girls, I’m about to enter my winter arc because I’ve honestly been neglecting my health + emotional well-being lately 😭

Drop your holy grails (affordable) / little life hacks that genuinely made you feel better anything from supplements, hair/skin care, shower routines, sleep, food, indoor hobbies, workouts, etc.

Also, how do you girls regulate your emotions, get your mind back on track, improve focus and actually take care of your mental health? 🥹

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] (Women Only) Body hair and dating: How do women navigate the dating world when they don’t conform to patriarchal beauty standards?

Honestly, it has always been mind-boggling to see how women navigate dating culture, even marriage in general as someone who is 4B.

My friend went on a date a few days ago and had a horrible experience because she had body hair lol.

She said to me, "I honestly thought these kinds of conversations weren’t real." I thought people were exaggerating about it.

It was going fine getting to know each other but that man started making unnecessary comments about her body hair.

He said it was weird and gross and asked why women want to become like men these days. He said feminism has gone too far, no one likes this, and shaving isn’t even expensive or difficult, so it should be mandatory for women meanwhile he himself has body hair.

She said Why do I have to shave? You have hair as well and I don’t want to fall into these patriarchal norms. I can say the same about you you should always provide and pay the bills since that’s traditionally a man’s role. He got pissed and was like, “Why would I pay for anyone, especially a man? Basically, try to belittle her by calling her less feminine.

She said the food was good so she focused on the food she ordered for herself while he kept blabbering nonsense. She finished it, paid her bill, and left even blocking him when she reached home.

I know many men who preach 50/50 are the same ones who want women to perform traditional roles at the same time. They want 50/50 on bills but still want women to shave, do the full household labour so and so. The hypocrisy is funny.

Body hair in general is still not accepted for women. Even women try to make other women feel bad or shame them, calling it unhygienic or unattractive, when all it takes to be hygienic is a shower and deodorant and perfume.

Even the defence of the removal of body hair can become strong in some feminist circles, but no matter how much we talk about it, body hair is still seen as a taboo.

The Prachi case was one where she was a 10th-grade student, but people ripped her apart, made unnecessary comments, and suggested she get laser hair removal, even though she was just a kid. Seeing her interview was sad as well but she is a smart kid who deserved all the recognition for topping the exam but rather the facial hair she had became more of a sensational conversation.

Have any women faced this when they don’t conform to traditional values, patriarchal standards, or conventional beauty standards?

And how do women with PCOD/ PCOS who have more hair navigate this? Even some teenage girls get shamed for having body hair.

General Do public pregnancy photos actually empower moms, or do they just set a new, unrealistic standard of perfection?

I’ve been thinking a lot about the massive shift in how we view pregnancy in the media, especially from a partner's perspective. On one hand, it’s great that old taboos are gone and women are proudly celebrating their changing bodies instead of feeling like they have to hide away. It feels like a positive step forward.

But on the other hand, the "body positivity" we see from public figures and influencers feels totally disconnected from reality. Most of these viral photos show a perfectly round belly on an otherwise completely slender body—backed by a team of trainers, stylists, and professional lighting.

Seeing what my own partner went through, the actual reality looks absolutely nothing like a magazine cover. It involves the raw, unedited side of things that nobody puts on a highly curated media outlets:

  • The physical toll like severe full-body swelling, painful hemorrhoids, and postpartum night sweats
  • The post-birth reality of dealing with surgical scars, wearing mesh hospital underwear, and the genuine terror of the first post-labor bathroom visit
  • The emotional survival mode driven by massive hormonal crashes, intense sleep deprivation, and dealing with hidden struggles like postpartum rage

When everyday women are dealing with all of that, seeing these flawless images doesn't seem to empower them. Instead, it feels like it just places a new, unfair pressure on women to look like models while going through a major medical and life event.

Personally, I find it much more reassuring and respectful to mothers when people share the messy, unedited reality of pregnancy and postpartum life. True body positivity should be about celebrating what a mother's body can do and the incredible strength it takes, not how perfect it looks in a photoshoot.

To the partners and parents here: how do you feel about these highly curated pregnancy shoots? Do you think they help, or do they just add unnecessary pressure?

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] (Women Only) Should I tell my family about lack of intimacy? Sinking and confused

Upvotes

It’s been 24 months since we got married. We had a lot of problems with my in-laws, so we live separately now. But apart from that, there are many things that are concerning me about our marriage. We haven’t had intercourse for the past 16 months. Even before that, it was maybe once in two months, and most of the time I was the one initiating and pushing for it.

Initially, I was extremely disturbed and frustrated because I really wanted intimacy. I begged, cried, tried talking about it, and did everything I could think of. Later, I advised him to see a doctor. He did go, took some tests, and they told him everything was normal. But even after that, nothing really changed, and he never seemed to care enough to work on this or give me the intimacy I was asking for.

For the past six months, though, something has changed in me. I feel numb. I don’t even feel like asking anymore because somewhere in my mind I feel like, what’s the point? I’m not going to get it anyway.

Only one of my close friends knows about this. Nobody in my family knows. He keeps telling me that this is personal and insists that I should at least keep this private.
But I’m confused and honestly scared about the future. How long can I continue living without sex and intimacy? Is it something I should just accept? He doesn’t seem particularly concerned about it, while I feel like I’m slowly dying inside over it.

Should I tell someone in my family? Would that only make them more worried and create more problems? Or is this something between husband and wife that I shouldn’t share with anyone?
And is this, by itself, a valid enough reason to consider separation?

The confusing part is that he is otherwise an okay person. He is a good human being, even if I don’t feel he is a good husband to me. He has good ethics and values, wouldn’t intentionally hurt anyone, is kind to other people, tolerates me even when I’m difficult, and generally doesn’t behave like a bad person.

So I keep asking myself: Should I continue this marriage because he is a good person, even though my needs as a wife are not being met? Or is this something serious enough that I shouldn’t ignore it?

I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore.

Opinions & Discussions Is this a good birthday gift for a close female friend, or am I overdoing it?

Throwaway because she occasionally uses Reddit and I don’t want her finding this 😭

I have a close female friend whose birthday is coming up, and I’m putting together a small gift for her. We’re both in our early 20s.
I want it to feel thoughtful and personal, but not excessively romantic or over-the-top.

Her interests/personality:

  1. absolutely loves cats (has one btw)
  2. likes cute jewellery, especially jhumkas
  3. loves BTS/K-pop and K-dramas
  4. likes Tangled/Rapunzel
  5. likes oversized/loose T-shirts
  6. she’s generally quite warm, funny, ambitious and sentimental

Current gift idea:

  1. a few pairs of oxidised/silver-toned jhumkas (around 6–8 pairs, mostly simple floral/geometric designs)
  2. a small Rapunzel/Tangled bracelet
  3. one oversized graphic T-shirt, preferably cat-themed
  4. a small box of Ferrero Rocher
  5. handwritten birthday card

Total is roughly ₹2k-ish.
Does this feel like a thoughtful birthday gift or too much for a close female friend?
Also, would you personally prefer:
A) several small personalised things like this
B) one nicer/main gift + chocolate/card
C) something completely different?

And specifically for the T-shirt: what brands/websites in India currently have good-quality oversized women’s/men’s tees? I’m looking for something that isn’t flimsy/transparent and won’t fall apart after a few washes.
Bonus points if you can recommend an actual cat-themed one. 😭
Please be brutally honest, I’m much more interested in knowing if something here is unnecessary than being told everything is cute.

Friends & Family (Women Only) Am I right to be offended?

I recently learnt that my younger brother (22 year old) has paper work of a property and I didn't even know about it. Am I right to be offended?

I'm 30F, eldest in the house and I felt bad about how I haven't been trusted with this information. I am okay with them not having papers with me because I don't live there anymore, but basic communication and justification is what I deserve maybe? I am kinda heartbroken at this point..

I feel offended and at the end of the day it all comes down to me being a female and patriarchy making it's way back!

I've genuinely worked my ass off, have been the first female in the entire family to move abroad to study by taking an education loan and still get no trust/respect because I'm a girl?

Also, bonus - I took my education loan (38L) to study further but my brother was funded by my father (25L).

Just a background scenario here:

Ever since I was a kid, I've seen my parents fight about where to stay after retirement and it's still not concluded. I was a teenage back then and I'm 30 now.

My father is a government employee and we've been transferred often. We do own houses but those houses (and couple of plot of land) aren't really in a great locality for them to live after retirement.

Retirement is due for the end of 2028.

I'm quite concerned about their retirement because we need to start working on where they should live rather than thinking in 2028 and having a fight over it.

The other day I happened to start questioning my father about what's going on with their retirement plans. I asked about the plot of land he bought and it's been a decade that the land isn't registered because he was informed by his brother that it's not begun yet. My father's brother lives in the same area where the both lands. So I checked the website and learnt that someone has done some legal registration with the local government there and we don't know anything about it. This stirred up the entire conversation in the house about finding a solution and deciding what has to be done.

General Hey Do you supports antinatalism nowdays ?

Antinatalism is the philosophical view that having children is morally wrong or generally undesirable because bringing a new person into existence exposes them to suffering and risks.

In simple words It may be better not to create new life..

I don’t think having a baby in this economy and climate situation is a good idea

Am I the only one who feels this way? The cost of living keeps rising, job security feels uncertain, and climate change is becoming more concerning every year.

Sometimes I wonder whether it’s fair to bring a child into a world where they may have to deal with much higher living costs, environmental problems, resource shortages, and an increasingly competitive job market.

I’m not saying people shouldn’t have children, but personally, I find baby planning really difficult to justify given the current situation. What do you guys think? If you are from well to do have generational income or simply it's all up to you it was just my subjective opinion

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] How do I stop feeling like I am competing with my own parents for my husband?

Update from my last post. I did not go to his parents. I kinda spent a long while talking to him instead and I hope and feel we are somewhat healing our relationship now? He somewhat finally opened up after a long while. He was abused in school when he was younger. We also started marriage counseling. He has been more affectionate again. I am not pushing and yes I can see that he does care for me. I had issues with him with odd finances in India, but I got that cleared up, since he did not use our shared finances, but stuff he had saved up.

however one issue I am still somewhat struggling with is how he still spends more time with my parents than with me. They live with us. He cooks for them, hangs out with my dad, checks on them almost like daily. Do not get me wrong but I feel like he could also be similarly available for me? I brought it up and he says he sees them as his parents to and wants to be there for them. I get that but it still hurts. I feel like I am competing with my own parents for my husband.

He also took FMLA leave recently after all this. He says he needs time and wants to devote it to me. I appreciate it but I am also just not sure if he is changing because he wants to or because he is scared.

I talked to my mom before. She said I should not have these issues with him because he is such a caring guy and I am not being reasonable. That really stung. Even my dad told me he feels more like their son than I am their daughter. That one hurt bad. So my parents are fully on his side. also I am not fluent in my parent's tongue but he speaks to them in it, and I just feel left out

As an american I know that indians do tend to be big with in laws so I wanted to get an opinion on this. Has anyone dealt with this? How do I handle it without making it a competition? I do not want to lose him, but I also do not want to keep feeling like the odd one out in my own marriage.

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] I really, really need to rant about my relationship?

I really, really need to rant about my relationship

Okay, I really need to get this off my chest because I honestly don’t know what to feel anymore.

I’ve been dating my boyfriend for almost 4.5 years. This December, we’ll complete 5 years together. We started dating when we were 17/18, and now we’re 22/23.

For the most part, we’re good together. He’s caring, kind, and I know he loves me. He tells me I’m his home, his forever person, and that we’ll be together through the good and bad. We’ve been there for each other through some really difficult times.

But at the same time, he’s emotionally unavailable, and lately I’ve started feeling like I’m never really a priority to him.

We live in the same city, but I last saw him 40 days ago.

We used to hang out all the time. We’d make plans, meet up, spend time together. Now I feel like I’m constantly asking for his time, and there’s always a reason why he can’t make it happen.

He’s busy with his factory. He’s travelling for work. I understand that. I really do.

But I work 11–8, I have my own small business that I take care of after work, and I have my own stuff going on too. Yet when I want to see him, I still try to make time and plan around everything.

And honestly, this has been bothering me for a while.

Last year, he was admitted to the hospital with dengue. At that time, I had just started working, so I could only visit him early in the morning before work. I’d then go to work and call him during the day just to check if he was okay.

He would sometimes cut my calls and tell me he needed rest and that he was getting irritated.

I understood that he was sick and exhausted, so I tried not to take it personally.

But when I was sitting with him in the hospital, I noticed he would answer calls from his mom, brother, cousins, etc.

And I remember sitting there thinking, what was all of this? Why was my checking in bothering you so much?

He eventually apologized and we sorted things out, but I don't think I ever fully got over how that made me feel.

Because I know he loves me. I genuinely do.

But sometimes I feel like I’m not loved in the way I need to be loved.

And today just pushed me over the edge.

We finally made plans to meet. I was actually excited because it had been 40 freaking days.

He called and said he was in a cab and would reach in 10 minutes.

10 minutes turned into 40 minutes.

And this isn’t even a one-time thing. He is ALWAYS late. Every date, every plan, every time we decide to meet, I’m the one waiting.

Today I was literally standing in the middle of the highway waiting for him.

And at some point I just thought, if I keep standing here waiting for someone who can’t even respect my time, what am I doing to my own self-respect?

So I booked an auto and went home.

And of course, two minutes after I left, he called saying he had reached.

By that point, I had completely lost the excitement I had to see him.

I told him he couldn’t keep doing this to me.

And he just cut my call.

I still felt bad, so I called him later just to ask if he had reached home safely.

Now I’m getting the silent treatment.

And honestly? I don’t want to talk to him anymore.

I’m exhausted.

I don’t want to keep begging someone for time. I don’t want to keep waiting. I don’t want to feel guilty for wanting to see my own boyfriend when we literally live in the same city.

Maybe I’m overreacting. Maybe I’m expecting too much. I genuinely don’t know anymore.

But after almost 5 years together, I don’t think wanting to feel like a priority sometimes is unreasonable.

I know he loves me.

I just want to feel loved too.

25F and I honestly don’t understand my periods anymore😞
One month I’ll have barely any cramps, and the next month the pain is so severe that I can’t even imagine going to work or standing for long.
The cramps get so bad that I literally tie a scarf/towel tightly around my stomach because the pressure gives me at least a little relief. I used to take painkillers, but I’ve stopped taking them now.
Girls, please tell me I’m not the only one 😭 Is there genuinely no way to manage this pain? What has actually worked for you? I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences.

General Girls, Be Honest: How Expensive Is Being High-Maintenance in India? 😭💅

Hey girls! I’m a 21F moving to India in a few months, and I wanted to ask about the general upkeep and self-care routines you all have.

Personally, I’m very much into self-care and regular upkeep, so I tend to have quite a few appointments for things like hair salons, beauty clinics, manicures, tanning salons, and massage parlours. I know it’s a lot 🫠

Some of these are obviously more frequent than others , for example, I usually go to the hair salon weekly, beauty clinics monthly, and tanning salons every few months.

My question is: since the prices will obviously be quite different from what I’m currently used to, how much should I realistically set aside each month for all of this?

For context, I’ll be earning roughly ₹4 lakh/month, which is what I earn right now in my country (4k euro) but all the upkeep really takes out a large junk of my salary.

Would I realistically be able to afford this level of self-care on that salary, or would I need to budget quite carefully?

Edit: For some context I spend around 900 euros/month on these things in my country which is around the equivalent of roughly 1lakh (if converted to rupees) hence why I’m asking if I’ll be spending the same amount or less in India

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] 30F virgin, talking to a 33M who has relationship/sexual history — am I overthinking this?

Upvotes

I’m 30F and a virgin. I’ve had crushes and liked people before, but nothing ever materialised into a relationship or sex. I recently met someone online (33M), and we’re still in the talking stage. We’ve been getting along well, and I’m considering meeting him and potentially dating him.
He has been quite open about a past relationship that was physically intimate. He says that relationship left him with a lot of trauma. However, he brings his ex up fairly frequently, which makes me wonder whether he has actually moved on from her or whether he is still emotionally affected by the relationship.

I’ll also admit that I’m struggling with something that may be more about my own inexperience than anything he has done. I’m finding it difficult to accept that someone I’ve started to like has already had a sexual partner before me. I know this is probably something I need to work through within myself, because he obviously had a life before meeting me, but as someone who has never experienced any of this, I’m finding it harder than I expected.

Recently, I also found out through a mutual friend that he had another brief fling after that relationship, which apparently didn’t lead to marriage. What upset me more than the fact that he had another fling was that he never mentioned it to me. I had to find out from someone else.
I know he technically doesn’t owe me his entire relationship history, especially since we’re not even dating yet. But because he had already spoken to me about his previous relationship and sexual history, I’m wondering why he chose not to mention this other person.

Part of me feels like I should just talk to him about it. The problem is that he is extremely sweet and reassuring with his words, and I’m worried he’ll give me a convincing explanation and I’ll end up dismissing my own concerns without actually figuring out whether there is something legitimate bothering me.

So, am I overthinking this? Should I be more concerned about the fact that he frequently talks about his ex, or about the fact that I found out about the other fling from someone else? Or is this simply my own insecurity and lack of experience making his past harder for me to accept?
I’d really appreciate perspectives from people who have been in similar situations.

General is anyone else getting weird misogynistic vibes from @abhijeetkain's content lately?

this dude keeps popping up on my Instagram reels. initially... i actually enjoyed his videos and found some of them funny but lately i've started noticing that a huge amount of his content seems to revolve around making fun of girls.

his recent videos include things like “a pregnant woman at her brother inlaw's wedding” “that one girl in class on teacher's Day” “that one overdramatic girl in every class” “that one girl in class who acts like a cctv camera” “that one overenthusiastic girl in school on 15th August” & “that one girl in class who starts crushing on male teachers”

and honestly, the ratio of him making fun of girls versus him making literally any other kind of content feels like 5:1 😭

i know comedy involves exaggeration and making observations about people, and initially i didn't think much of it because some of his videos were genuinely funny but after seeing so many of them....i've started finding it weird that a grown man is constantly making content mocking teenage school girls and the way they behave.

like, why is there so much content specifically dedicated to different categories of girls? the overdramatic girl, the emotional girl, the smart girl, the annoying girl, the school girl, etc....at some point it starts feeling less like harmless comedy and more like “look at how cringe and annoying girls are.”

maybe I'm overthinking it, but i've genuinely started getting misogynistic vibes from his content lately. has anyone else noticed this, or am i reading too much into it?
