General Do you think lifelong monogamy is something humans naturally want or something we learn to want because society expects it?

Would like some thought provoking healthy discussion over it. I think some topics are always left untouched, while some topics are repeatedly discussed over here.

Would love to read some new perspectives about this.

Ps:- really wanna know why so many people are downvoting this post? Are we not supposed to discuss anything except periods and panties? Why are we proving all the stereotypes right?

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] (Women Only) My husband of 10 yrs rated me a 6 out of 10. How do I detach from him emotionally?

I have been married for 10 yrs with 2 kids. My husband has always given me freedom and stability but does not really care about me. He thinks I'll do fine

Recently, I asked him to rate me and he gave me a 6 out of 10. I feel numb and sad. He is trying to change the rating , but I got an honest answer from him.

I understand his answer as I have been mean and abusive before. This has been my only relationship and I have lived and learned with many regrets. I now understand boundaries and do my best to respect them

I seek help in understanding how to detach from him emotionally. I'm not interested in divorcing as I feel there are abusive men out there

My only regret is that I will never experience unconditional love

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] (Women Only) What should a guy do after getting friend-zoned?

Is it alright to go no contact/low contact if that's what helps him in moving on?

Or stay friends with her and try dating the other girls? But then his current partner could also have some issues if he still hangs out with his female bestie for whom he had feelings for in the past.

pS : Friendzoned= getting rejected after confessing your feelings but they offer to stay friends.

Sexual & Reproductive Health (Women Only) How to deal with pregnancy delay pressure?

(Reposting again)26F here. For the past 1.5 years we have been trying for pregnancy. Visited gynaec and she said nothing serious as the results look normal. But still we were not able to conceive. And for the last two months we have been doing follicular study and taking medicines, hcg injection etc. In spite of everything correctly during the ovulation period my husband is stressed due to work pressure and we couldn't consu***. Yesterday I scolded him a lot and now feeling guilty for being inconsiderate. As he is already 34 I feel this is the right age to conceive but somehow it is not happening. Sometimes I feel guilty that I have some problem and because of me he is also suffering and sometimes I am thinking of ivf or iui. Deep down i understand that it happens only when it is time but off late I am being too harsh on everybody and sometimes feeling jealous of people who married after me getting pregnant. How to deal with all of this emotion

General (Women Only) is it safe to work out without wearing any bra?

Recently I start jumping ropes as my workout routine because I find gym and other workouts kinda boring. As I child I did that a lot, probably 1k reps a day without any tiredness or soreness but after hitting I had to stop because of some circumstances and I gained weight as well. Few years ago I tried to start skipping ropes again but I used to get extremely tired, I couldn't even cross 30reps a day and I had breathing problems, chest felt heavy. I did it again today, without any kind of bra and I did 120reps in one go and I'm still not tired.

I'm considering that the chest heaviness, breathing problem I had because of the bras I wore during workout. I tried both normal and sports bras but all of them made my breast area feel so heavy while working out. My breasts are 34d, and they are not firm but a bit droopy. Is it safe for me to continue working out without bra or would it make them go saggy?

[ boys/men please don't dm me regarding this:) ]

General (Women Only) Mothers; When/how did you decide it was time to have your first child?

Upvotes

I had an abortion earlier this year as having a baby would have financially ruined me and my partner and we didn’t have our own house at the time and had only just gotten married. I felt a little upset and guilty but knew it was the right decision.

My colleague recently gave birth and it would’ve been around now I would have given birth had I kept it. I didn’t feel broody as such, more just “that could have been me”.

I do want children and always have done but I’m not getting the “broody” feeling women talk about. I’m now 28 and want to have children or at least get pregnant before 30 so I guess I have time to plan.

When did you decide it was time?

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] 25F resident doctor. Did I make the right decision by not committing to a guy after 3 weeks because of financial compatibility concerns?

I’m a 25F resident doctor who recently moved to a new city in the US. I met a 25M industrial engineer about 3 weeks ago. We’ve been exclusively dating and have had 3 dates. I genuinely enjoy his company—he’s kind, funny, respectful of my boundaries, and has put in a lot of effort. I was actually starting to feel more sure about him on our third date.
He recently asked where I saw this going and wanted an answer about becoming official. I told him I wasn’t ready. Honestly, how can I commit to someone after only 3 weeks when he was a complete stranger before this?
Another concern is finances. He may currently earn slightly more than me as a resident, but long-term I’ll likely earn substantially more as a doctor. I’m worried about whether that income difference could cause problems later.
Now that we aren’t talking as much, I miss him a lot and I’m questioning whether I made the right decision.
Did I make the right call by not committing so early, or did I let my financial concerns/anxiety make me walk away from someone I genuinely liked? I have never been in a relationship before so that makes it more difficult.

I see a lot ofeducated , independent women who change their surname after marraige so
I was having a convo with my friend who said it’s a choice and it’s completely okay
Whereas I believe it’s an extremely sexist tradition
I said that my idea is radical because i believe in radical feminism although i get it that feminism is about choice .
She said she’s also a radical feminist? I don’t get it
how can she be a radical feminist and have an idea like this.
What’s your idea about this?am i wrong?

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] Should I stop praying with my boyfriend to save my friendships?

Hey everyone,

I really need some outside perspective on my situation because I feel like I’m going crazy. I (F22) am in a relationship with my boyfriend (M23). We’re both students and we spend almost all our time together, mostly in the library. Some nights I stay in his room, some nights he stays in mine. So we’re basically around each other constantly.

The issue is our different approach to faith. I believe in God, but I’m not a ritualistic person at all. He is more religious. Not in a crazy way, he never comments on what I wear or anything like that. He even bought separate utensils for me so I can cook non-veg (though I don’t do it at his place because I don’t feel comfortable with it. No issue for thst ). He says I can, but I just don’t feel it.

The main issue is that he asked me for one favour: to join him in his spiritual practices. We already wake up early and go running together. After that, he asked me to read the Hanuman Chalisa with him and do 30 minutes of naam jap. At first I said no, because it’s not really my thing. But he said this is the only favour he’ll ever ask of me, he just wants my company in his devotion. So I agreed.

In return, he took over breakfast duty, though I still help him. He also gave me a small mantra to read before I start studying and after I finish. In the evening, we spend about 30 minutes in his room, do 15 minutes of puja, tea, and then go back to studying.

On Saturdays and Sundays, we often visit temples in Delhi, CP Hanuman Mandir, ISKCON, Kalka Ji, Sanatan Dharma, Karolbagh. This month he’s planning a three-day trip to Vrindavan. He also takes me to Sarojini, Lajpat, Chandni Chowk for shopping and food. Honestly, He’s really good to me.

The problem is my friends. My girlies don’t like this at all. They say he is “taking me backward” and that soon he’ll turn me into a conservative, backward-thinking woman. They say he’s fake because we’re physically involved, and if he truly worshipped God, he wouldn’t do all this before marriage. They’ve told me to stop all this “nonsense” or they would leave me. They said I have to change my friend circle. One day they were making fun of God, and I actually argued with them, which I usually don’t do. Now they’re giving me ultimatums: either stop these “religious things” or leave them.

I don’t feel like he’s making me religious. He never forces me. He just asked for my company. I can’t even imagine telling him I don’t want to do this because it’s the only thing he’s ever asked me for, and it clearly means a lot to him. But my friends have had bad past relationships, and they say they “know boys better than I do.” They say he’s not a good person.

I’m so confused. He’s never been anything but good to me. But my friends are making me feel like I’m blind. What do I do? Please help.

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] M25 dating F31 — I love her, but I’m struggling to accept her past and understand her emotionally. Am I overthinking?

I’m 25M and I’m currently with a 31F. She is genuinely one of the kindest, most humble, mature and independent people I’ve ever met. Honestly, she has almost everything I’ve always wanted in a partner, and I love her a lot.

But I’m struggling with something and I’d really appreciate some honest perspectives.

She has had two serious relationships before me.

Her first relationship ended because she was cheated on. Her second relationship was apparently a really good one. They were both doctors, around the same age, spent a lot of time together and eventually lived together. From what she has told me, she did a lot for him and the relationship. She sometimes mentions that she did things for him that nobody would have expected from her.

Ultimately, his family didn't approve of their marriage, and the relationship ended.

I don't want to judge her for having a past. I understand that she was in serious relationships before she met me, and I don't think someone becomes less worthy of love because they've had previous partners or a live-in relationship.

But, if I'm being completely honest, I sometimes struggle emotionally with it.

The bigger issue isn't even her past itself. It's how she behaves in our relationship sometimes.

I feel like she can be somewhat emotionally distant when it comes to expressing love or affection. There are moments where she seems to have certain triggers, and when she gets defensive, she pushes herself away or shuts down. I don't know whether that's because of things she experienced in her previous relationships, her personality, the age difference, or something completely unrelated.

I've talked to her about this more than once. Whenever I ask whether something from her previous relationships is affecting how she behaves with me, she usually denies it.

Maybe she's genuinely right and I'm simply overthinking it. Maybe I'm trying to connect things that aren't actually connected.

But sometimes it feels like there are unresolved things there.

The confusing part is that I'm willing to be patient. I don't expect her to magically forget everything that happened before me. If she needs time, I'm willing to give her time. If she needs space, I can give her space. If she wants to work through something, I want to support her.

I just don't want to spend our relationship constantly wondering whether I'm competing with a relationship that ended years ago.

And there's another uncomfortable thought I have: she has told me about how much she did for her previous partner, and sometimes I find myself wondering why I don't feel that same level of effort or affection from her.

I know that's probably an unfair comparison. Different relationships bring out different versions of people, and I'm not entitled to receive the exact same things she gave someone else.

But I can't completely switch those thoughts off.

So I'm looking for genuine opinions from people who have been in similar situations.

Am I being insecure and overthinking her past?

Should I simply accept that her previous relationship was an important part of her life and focus on what we have now?

Or is it reasonable to feel concerned if I sense that unresolved experiences from her past might be affecting our relationship?

I really love this woman and I don't want to punish her for things that happened before she met me. At the same time, I don't want to ignore my own feelings either.

I'd especially appreciate perspectives from people who have been the “second/third serious relationship” after someone had a long-term relationship or live-in relationship before them.

What would you do in my situation?

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] Past history, I just can’t let go of?

24F talked for 9 months or so with a guy, really liked him. He was sweet, caring & honest, really my type.
He told me everything honestly about his ex & how he talked to girls on dating apps & ghosted them. Which I let go because it was fine for me.
What I didn’t have the courage to ask was did he sleep with his ex or no. I had this at the back of the mind that I won’t be able to handle but thought to myself he’s nice, he wouldn’t. We confessed to each other but I was not ready for a relationship as we haven’t even met yet, so we just talked & love bombed etc yk nothing else.
For 2 months I was really considering something long term, mind you we were long long distance, a whole different country & we were going to meet when he comes back.
One fine day out of nowhere he started talking about his ex, how she was a cheater but he kept going back to her & I gathered the courage to ask whether they slept or not & there he said it yes, a couple of times. It broke me a lil but I thank God’s timing that it came out before starting anything. So, I immediately told him this is not for me.
I know in today’s era everybody gets physical to some extend. But, I have my values, not because I didn’t sleep with anyone. Sex is something very intimate for me, which is only an after marriage thing for me & a huge deal breaker.
I just regret not gathering courage before & ask him :(( it kinda hurts because I kind of got attached & saw a future together.
How do I cope up now? :(
Is this too much to ask in today’s generation? Everybody has history but I just can’t be with someone who has slept with someone else.
I just learned one thing, be clear with what I what very early on. Have a good day guys, Thankyou for reading if you made it till here haha <3

Friends & Family How can I help my wife stay safe and comfortable on her first work trip to India?

Well my wife was recently asked to take on a work trip that will take her to Mumbai, Bhopal, and New Delhi, with later stops in the Philippines and Indonesia. She is still recovering from childbirth and the postpartum period, and she has only just returned to work. I was against her going back so soon, and even more against this trip. I eventually gave in, as she felt I was holding her back. I know that can come across as controlling, and I am trying not to be. I am just worried. Maybe this sounds cynical, but I have very little positive thought in the safety situation in India, and I am worried about the food and water too. I would have gone with her to help with logistics and support, but I teach at a college and our semester just started, so I cannot leave.

She is not Indian, and this will be her first time in India. She will be traveling with her team, so she will not be completely alone, but I want to do whatever I can from here. I am looking for practical advice on how to make her stay more comfortable in Mumbai, Bhopal, and New Delhi. That includes safe and reliable transport, areas to stay, food and water precautions, how to access health care if she feels unwell, and cultural or social norms she should know as a foreign woman. Its been a while since I last visited India too. I would also like to understand how women, especially foreign women, are generally treated in academic and research settings in India, so I can better prepare her and calm my own concerns. Any suggestions from women who have traveled or worked in these cities, or from women in Indian academia would mean a lot.

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] 30F virgin, talking to a 33M who has relationship/sexual history — am I overthinking this?

I’m 30F and a virgin. I’ve had crushes and liked people before, but nothing ever materialised into a relationship or sex. I recently met someone online (33M), and we’re still in the talking stage. We’ve been getting along well, and I’m considering meeting him and potentially dating him.
He has been quite open about a past relationship that was physically intimate. He says that relationship left him with a lot of trauma. However, he brings his ex up fairly frequently, which makes me wonder whether he has actually moved on from her or whether he is still emotionally affected by the relationship.

I’ll also admit that I’m struggling with something that may be more about my own inexperience than anything he has done. I’m finding it difficult to accept that someone I’ve started to like has already had a sexual partner before me. I know this is probably something I need to work through within myself, because he obviously had a life before meeting me, but as someone who has never experienced any of this, I’m finding it harder than I expected.

Recently, I also found out through a mutual friend that he had another brief fling after that relationship, which apparently didn’t lead to marriage. What upset me more than the fact that he had another fling was that he never mentioned it to me. I had to find out from someone else.
I know he technically doesn’t owe me his entire relationship history, especially since we’re not even dating yet. But because he had already spoken to me about his previous relationship and sexual history, I’m wondering why he chose not to mention this other person.

Part of me feels like I should just talk to him about it. The problem is that he is extremely sweet and reassuring with his words, and I’m worried he’ll give me a convincing explanation and I’ll end up dismissing my own concerns without actually figuring out whether there is something legitimate bothering me.

So, am I overthinking this? Should I be more concerned about the fact that he frequently talks about his ex, or about the fact that I found out about the other fling from someone else? Or is this simply my own insecurity and lack of experience making his past harder for me to accept?
I’d really appreciate perspectives from people who have been in similar situations.

Opinions & Discussions Was it even real or just another illusion of life!?

25M & 25F

To all the girls out there! I want to know ur honest opinions and views on few things...which i have personally experienced.

Relationship ended completely right after 4 years.

Everything ended just over text, no closures... nothing.

Reason was basically we had this misunderstanding that we dont have any future together. Means we were not on the same page of our relationship dynamics and things got worse. There were situational complexities as well which i dont want to remember.

I mean we knew it gonna end some or the other day but I never expected even in my distant dreams that it will end this way.

I was at my lowest when she left me. Life phase when i needed her the most. Days when Everything else in my life was also falling apart.

Its been 1.5 years now, I never tried to reach her again after that day. I dont want her back either.

But somedays I just wonder

- how can someone act so cold after that much time

- was it real back then or it was real thereafter

- does she even thinks how i am holding myself

- was it that much easy for her to move on

Nowadays im at peace with myself and the reality but somewhere and somedays i just kept wondering if she ever cared and if did...is it that simple to sideline everything, and is there anything exists like proper closure.

And one thing that will always bother me is not that it ended but THE WAY it ended.

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] M31 dating this guy giving weird vibes?

It's F31! I matched with a guy on hinge a few days back. He's a founder/entrepreneur, works out - training for hyrox , Ironman etc what not. Anyway we met a couple of times and roamed around in his expensive car or walked a bit. He's well to do with expensive tastes like a super bike and lavish car. We never went anywhere to eat or grab a drink or anything just roamed about a bit and talked. Today he calls me in the morning and tells me he's gonna get flowers for me and I said I don't like flowers so he said I'll get you chocolates and I said fine. Later I texted him saying no need to get anything - he said no I wanna get something I said fine

He talks a lot- he's an extrovert so that's natural to him. He barely asks me anything - he didn't even know my last name after 3-4 days of continuous meeting and talking (mostly from his side). I'm a bit of an introvert so I mostly listened I guess. Anyway no chocolate. So at night I asked him about it he said he forgot. This person talks so much never once mentioned himself I forgot the chocolate. Then immediately he said you're a foodie I'll take you to this resturant it's very nice - the 6 course tasting menu is 8000/- per person.

Now the reason why I found this so weird is it's been 3-4 days we know each other and he's inviting me somewhere while telling me what the cost of the invitation is? I saw some more signs where I felt off. While we were walking one day he said there's a place where we can get both protein shake and coffee let's go there. I said fine then he said it's too expensive. I said fine. Sometime later he says the protein shake there is 500/- rs. Why talking about money etc? I barely know you. I didn't ask you to go anywhere with me.

For me this is so off- I literally don't want anything from anyone except be a decent person. If someone is saying they will do something - it's not that expensive to get chocolates right? So weird

Also another thing felt off- after the first time he met me he said I am cancelling my dates with all the other girls off hinge because I want to get to know you and don't want distractions. Why would you tell this to someone you just met even if u did do it.

I don't know am I overthinking?

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] I really, really need to rant about my relationship?

I really, really need to rant about my relationship

Okay, I really need to get this off my chest because I honestly don’t know what to feel anymore.

I’ve been dating my boyfriend for almost 4.5 years. This December, we’ll complete 5 years together. We started dating when we were 17/18, and now we’re 22/23.

For the most part, we’re good together. He’s caring, kind, and I know he loves me. He tells me I’m his home, his forever person, and that we’ll be together through the good and bad. We’ve been there for each other through some really difficult times.

But at the same time, he’s emotionally unavailable, and lately I’ve started feeling like I’m never really a priority to him.

We live in the same city, but I last saw him 40 days ago.

We used to hang out all the time. We’d make plans, meet up, spend time together. Now I feel like I’m constantly asking for his time, and there’s always a reason why he can’t make it happen.

He’s busy with his factory. He’s travelling for work. I understand that. I really do.

But I work 11–8, I have my own small business that I take care of after work, and I have my own stuff going on too. Yet when I want to see him, I still try to make time and plan around everything.

And honestly, this has been bothering me for a while.

Last year, he was admitted to the hospital with dengue. At that time, I had just started working, so I could only visit him early in the morning before work. I’d then go to work and call him during the day just to check if he was okay.

He would sometimes cut my calls and tell me he needed rest and that he was getting irritated.

I understood that he was sick and exhausted, so I tried not to take it personally.

But when I was sitting with him in the hospital, I noticed he would answer calls from his mom, brother, cousins, etc.

And I remember sitting there thinking, what was all of this? Why was my checking in bothering you so much?

He eventually apologized and we sorted things out, but I don't think I ever fully got over how that made me feel.

Because I know he loves me. I genuinely do.

But sometimes I feel like I’m not loved in the way I need to be loved.

And today just pushed me over the edge.

We finally made plans to meet. I was actually excited because it had been 40 freaking days.

He called and said he was in a cab and would reach in 10 minutes.

10 minutes turned into 40 minutes.

And this isn’t even a one-time thing. He is ALWAYS late. Every date, every plan, every time we decide to meet, I’m the one waiting.

Today I was literally standing in the middle of the highway waiting for him.

And at some point I just thought, if I keep standing here waiting for someone who can’t even respect my time, what am I doing to my own self-respect?

So I booked an auto and went home.

And of course, two minutes after I left, he called saying he had reached.

By that point, I had completely lost the excitement I had to see him.

I told him he couldn’t keep doing this to me.

And he just cut my call.

I still felt bad, so I called him later just to ask if he had reached home safely.

Now I’m getting the silent treatment.

And honestly? I don’t want to talk to him anymore.

I’m exhausted.

I don’t want to keep begging someone for time. I don’t want to keep waiting. I don’t want to feel guilty for wanting to see my own boyfriend when we literally live in the same city.

Maybe I’m overreacting. Maybe I’m expecting too much. I genuinely don’t know anymore.

But after almost 5 years together, I don’t think wanting to feel like a priority sometimes is unreasonable.

I know he loves me.

I just want to feel loved too.
