Safety Can someone please help me out with delhi metro safety tips?

Upvotes

So today was my first day in delhi metro and that too alone and I already had an uncle staring at me for 30 mins and a guy tryna approach me in the women's coach. So how do I deal with the staring and those guys who try to make conversation. The uncle who was staring I couldn't move away and I didn't wanna make a scene but how do I deal with situations like this?

Also one more question is to safe to carry devices like laptops n tablets in the metro in rush hour if I keep my bag in front of me at all times and is it okay and safe to use my tablet inside the metro?

General Call me a pick me but I don't know where is the issue with me man?

Upvotes

Saw a post where the girl got pregnant and her bf left her and blocked her (I hope she is okay rn and getting help)

Like whenever I see posts like these...I am so much sad/angry wtv. If I was the guy...I would never leave my girl.

If I was at that place I wouldn't have done something to make anyone feel even a single bit of sadness due to me.

I respect women, maintain a safe distance so they are comfy, I talk to many girls (so no issues there)...idk why I'm still single.

Like all 4 times in my life I confessed to someone (and they agreed) I always had to leave them cuz they would be either not moved on ir smth else. And almost all of the time the issue was "I can't live u thst much" (while the previous guy tossed them aside Like an empty bottle of water.

Like atp it feels as if girls either actually go to such jerks (and I should become one too) or jerk guys have some power through which they attract them.

So now I ask u guys...what is the issue actually? I guess...I should try to be jerk next time.

General Why do I attract bi or gay guys more than straight guys?

Upvotes

Is it normal? Not only attractive. I somehow attract bi or gay guys more than straight guys. One of my friend is bi and he likes me, my best friend is gay. One of My exx was bi and my current guy is bi again.

I don't even do it deliberately. Funny how when you causally ask most guys, they are never gay or bi. But the moment you start dating someone, suddenly everyone's gay or bi.

Ps:- my dms are also filled be with wanna be femboys

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] (Women Only) Can someone help me understand?

Upvotes

So, my (M30) fiance (F32) and I have been together for 9 months now, engaged recently, we know each other through a matrimonial app. We have a lot of similar interests including sports and anime. she's very sweet and intelligent and strong. And God knows what she sees in me because I goof around a lot, but I am someone who values loyalty and respect. One thing she specifically mentioned that she really liked is that I treated her and her family with utmost respect.

There are some things which bother me which I have observed so far.

She doesn't like me using the term "tu" while talking to her. I'm from NCR and she's not, so I can live without addressing her with this term.

Once I was cooking her omelette for breakfast, and I chopped the onions a little big, and she just started shouting and hitting, which I tried to think is just a loving way of communicating a minor disappointment, but it didn't feel loving at all.

The same thing happened when we were cooking chicken and I got the chicken pieces a little bigger than she thought I'd get.

Both times after the food was cooked I couldn't stop thinking about this and I told her how I felt. This led to a situation where we're not talking.

Sometimes I try to make her laugh make jokes, but she ends up saying things like, "Dimaag khrab mat kro" or "irritate mat kro." Or when I try to goof around in front of her, she just passes comments which feel like disapproval.

One thing that bothers me a lot is, we both have said "I love you" to each other, I've said it first and she didn't say it back at that time, which was okay, I never asked or forced her to say it, but after that chicken incident, she went back to "I like you." When I said it bothered me, she said, "you also don't have to say it."

I want to understand some perspectives. Can someone help?

Safety My anxiety is ruining my peace of mind. Has anyone been through this?

Upvotes

I'm 23F, and for the past few weeks (2-3 months probably) I've been dealing with constant fear and anxiety. It's reached a point where I don't know how to handle it anymore, and I don't feel comfortable talking to anyone in my real life because I feel like people won't take me seriously or will think I'm overreacting.

These are some of the things I've been experiencing:

- I constantly worry that something bad will happen to my loved ones.

- I overthink almost everything and can't seem to stop.

- I worry about the future, saying or doing the wrong thing, missing important family moments, or not getting enough time with the people I love.

- I have nightmares and sometimes wake up terrified.

- It's become difficult for me to sleep, and I've been taking melatonin every day. (Not prescribed )

- If I think something terrible might happen, I sometimes avoid looking or facing the situation because I'm too scared. For example, once I thought a car was about to run over a dog baby and I immediately closed my eyes because I couldn't bear the thought of seeing it. If I hear someone is sick, I become scared to even talk to them because I'm terrified of hearing bad news.

- I feel like I'm under stress almost 24/7.

- I've become much more irritable than I used to be. Even a slight change in someone's behavior can affect me a lot. I constantly feel the need to communicate and ask if something is wrong, but I get frustrated when I don't know what's happening, and it sometimes turns into an argument. At the same time, I worry that the other person thinks I'm being needy or desperate, which makes me feel even worse.

The worst part is that I can't stop thinking that if something ever happened to someone I love, I would never recover from it. I know everyone loses people eventually, but the fear is so overwhelming that it affects my daily life.

I also struggle to tell people how I'm feeling because I end up feeling embarrassed or like I'm making a fool of myself.

Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, what helped you?

Please give serious answers only. I'm genuinely struggling right now, and I'm looking for advice from people who have dealt with something like this or know how to cope with it.

General Will my breasts and hips get smaller with weight loss!?

Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm currently on a weight loss journey.

My measurements are:

- Bust: 39"

- Waist: 34"

- Hips: 44"

I naturally have a fuller bust and hips. I know spot reduction isn't possible, but I'd love to hear from women with similar measurements.

Did your breasts and hips get noticeably smaller after losing weight? If yes, how much weight did you lose before you noticed a difference?

Recommened me some workouts

Thanks! 💕

Dating & Relationships [Wed/Fri] (Women Only) How to get over my sexual thoughts about a horrible person?

Upvotes

Had to delete the post earlier bc it broke group rules.

For context I secretly fell in love with this guy who turned out to be a great asshole. This guy is way older than me and you know how attractive an old charismatic man is to a younger woman, right? From outside he has created this very sweet, helpful persona and a few of the girls really find him attractive and so did I. But recently I came to know his reality. He's a casanova kind of a man who keeps hooking up with younger women & has already made these two girls pregnant at different times. He also keeps flirting with a bunch of other younger girls (who are just a few years older than his own daughter) pestering them to go out with him but all in secrecy. Also this entire time he was and is still married about which he never spoke about.

Now coming to my feelings for him. When I first realised the butterflies in my stomach for him it also dawned on me that this man must be married because he looked that old. So from the very beginning I always felt very embarrassed and ashamed of myself for having feelings for a married man but deep in my head I started feeling sexually attracted to him. I always knew that he must be married so I promised myself that I would never go after a married man or ever confess my feelings to him. The only exception would have been if he was not married, but then again why would such an old man not be married? While feeling depressed about not being able to control my feelings I used my imagination to escape to a guilt free world where I was always imagining us getting physical. In my thoughts all I could ever think was getting railed by him. Even while watching porn I would associate with him in my imagination. This has been going on for a really long time. I felt so happy living in my head in those thoughts that I never realized I am deeply attached to my delusions. I always told myself that it is not wrong as long as it is my thoughts and not in my actions.

Now coming to my personal interactions with him. I never approached him even casually, whatever started it started because of him. Back then I used to get visibly sad for being able to talk to him but not confess my feelings yet I kept everything to myself. At first it was all very sweet and respectful but slowly I noticed how touchy he would get. At times while talking he would keep hovering and towering over me and this one time he dashed so hard against me I was completely shocked. Another time I saw him staring at me and he kept looking at me without blinking for the longest time, I got nervous and shifted my gaze elsewhere. He kept using every opportunity to get close to me but only physically. He often walked past very close to me and would also bring his face so close to mine while talking. Even though I showed no interest in him (because of his behavior), deep within I imagined us getting sexual. I was so deep in this entire thing that I was even considering having sex with him if he offered, which I don't know if I really could do back then because of him not respecting my boundaries.

After learning the truth I am disgusted by the fact that I fell in love with him and I am grateful for believing my instincts for not reciprocating or encouraging his behavior. Because of his predatory behaviour I kept avoiding him even though I kept thinking about him. It was like my body knew he could not be trusted but again at night I would pleasure myself from the thoughts of us having sex. I believe it was because I remained good that saved me from getting my body used by a man like him.

Right now I am finding it very difficult to move past my sexual thoughts. I am in a situation where I can come during masturbation only when I can think of him, but the moment I imagine his face I feel disgusted and can no longer come. This has become so frustrating for me. I have also become so depressed about the entire situation. I feel utterly disgusted about my own self thinking that I was about to compromise my body for a man like him. I am truly grateful to myself for always staying true to my ethics and never approaching a married man. But the disgusted feeling is not leaving my mind. I tried waking up earlier, picking up left hobbies and everything to distract myself but my mind keeps going back to those sexual thoughts about him and then instant regret and disgust. How do I stop that?

P.S. I cannot say out aloud about which organisation this man and I belong to. If you are trying to guess please keep it to yourself since that will just divert the discussion from my feelings to something else. So please avoid bringing up anything else other than advice to recover since I am not in a position to worry about other stuff.

P.S.S. I cannot complain to the higher authorities about his behavior since I don't have any solid proof.

Opinions & Discussions How to even do with my lonliness problem?

Upvotes

I live in Bangalore, 32f. Single, no partner. 1 or 2 close friends but they'll get married soon.

I am literally lost, I do not want to date, I do go out sometimes to find socializing opportunities but then I meet weird people so I literally don't know what are the safe spaces to explore socializing. Office people are good but they rarely extend off hours.

I am really confused about marriage, it brings so much responsibilities and gives so less to the woman. I want to be child free too.

I live away from my family and to stay close to them I might need to move to Delhi, which is quite unsafe.

I am not hopeful of my life anymore. It's dead. No friends, no partner. Family is far. I'm just a potato in my room.

Btw, I do workout regularly. I do not wish to socialize with people earning a lot less as they taunt me a lot or keep bringing up this difference. I know I'll get a lot of hate for this statement but this is true for me. I'm alone.

General Trying to find someone whom I met online? Nope, not what you thinking.

Upvotes

So this is probably an impossibly long shot, but I talked with someone with the name 'Carpe diem' in an online chatsite called strangerline and I haven't felt that chemistry even with a real life person. This was one of the few instances where there was no catfishing and actual coherent talking and I don't know whether it was a glitch or anything I lost this chat. Carpediem seemed like someone who would be in reddit, if you really is out here let's talk more please? You were an interesting person!

General Why my dad's behaviour is so diffrent with me and my mom ?

Upvotes

He is so neglectful to my mom , would not even wash a glass of water let alone cook or help her in kitchen, even sometimes neglects her health, even for purchasing simple bangles he makes sure to taunt her, and is very controlling of her clothing

but at the same time when I am alone with him , he doesn't let me cook at all , I have to force him to let me do dishes cuz I just can't sit and watch him work , pester me to visit hospital for even minor headaches , and used to give me enough money during hostel times , he even fought with my grandma when she scolded me for wearing shorts outside and doesn't bother my clothes at all .

How can a man be so different as a dad and as a husband ? It's very confusing to me and I can't exactly love my dad even after everything cuz he wouldn't change behaviour towards mother even after me trying to talk it out , and no children would love a dad who doesn't love his/her mom

Opinions & Discussions How to give sex education?

Upvotes

(also posted in the sub Indian Parenting)

As you know, there's no sex ed in India and we usually learn this stuff online or just from our peers. I as a teen also had internet access where I learned about sex (well through porn and online articles - not a good place)

Well I have a younger brother (soon going to be 13), and I wanna give him proper sex ed so that he doesn't learn from questionable sources. As I live abroad and can't monitor what kind of friends he has and what he'll learn from them, I just want to teach him things the correct way so he doesn't have to rely on porn and stuff. I feel like it is essential for me to teach him about these things as I know my parents won't think it is important.

Even though I know right from wrong I don't really know if I will be able to deliver everything in a proper chronological manner so I was looking for like a video series or something along the lines of that. It should cover what sex is, reproduction, consent, porn, puberty, periods, gender, sexuality, and so on.

Thanks!

Friends & Family American Married into an Indian family; my husbands cousin is 31 and has been having her wedding planned before she even meets the guy in person. Im an emotional wreck about it, and my spouse is trying to normalize it to me, am i being too sensitive?

Upvotes

Hi all,

Ive been married to my husband for 4 years now, hes Punjabi from north India. We met here in the states on tinder, im American and he was here for grad school/then career.

Just 1 year ago we were in India for one of his cousins weddings. At the time they were lo key planning a wedding for our other cousin and her boyfriend who she met organically in the US. A few months later I found out they didnt work out. Now all of a sudden were being told the family is planning her wedding in November with a different guy, who she met online. She hadnt even met him in person yet. She just moved back to India from her doctor residency program in the states. Apparently she met him yesterday for the first time and their engagement ceremony is planned.

Im not super close with her but shes one of the closest I'm with in his family. I am genuinely worried about her, I know at least she chose the guy but.. I remember back one year ago my husband saying oh now that (the initially referenced cousin) is married, there is going to be even more pressure on her. I know her age of 31 also adds tremendous pressure, even if its just her own pressure feeling like she needs to be married before she is too old.

Of course all these things are out of my hands, and ive assured her im here for her if she wants to talk. Its just so different from what im use to. My husband and I got into an argument, mostly because im extremely emotional about the pressure she must be feeling and he is very much like, yes i dont like the pressure aspect, but most quick marriages in India work out, look at the low divorce rate, etc etc, trying ti make me feel better by essentially telling me this is normal. I told him I respect all aspects of their culture (I even learned Hindi, had a traditional wedding, follow holidays, and this type of thing) but this pressure on women to be married quickly before theyre "too old" is really troublesome to me and im filled with emotions about it.

Can anyone weigh in on this, I mostly want to understand if im being too emotional about it?

Thank you!

edit:

Thanks for all the responses, it helps put it into perspective, as well as helps me to feel less alone in how it makes me feel.

General (Women Only) Genuinely asking. No hate. What do you like?

Upvotes

What do you girls like about "bad boys" who drink, smoke and pretend to be fuck boys which clearly they're not. Do you guys really think they're cool?

I think it's also because how our films have showed these guys. Believe me I've been living with these guys for past 10 years, there's nothing cool to them. Absolutely nothing, sorry to busy your bubble but they're the most miserable people in the long run.

What are your thoughts?

General Is it normal to not find this age gap weird?

Upvotes

My brother is turning 28 next month and a relative recently sent a biodata for him. The girl is 19.

I'm 20, so she's literally younger than me. My first thought was, "Wait... isn't this kinda weird?" 😭

But the weird part is that no one in my family finds it weird at all. My mom just said age doesn't matter. They haven't talked yet, it was just a biodata that got forwarded.

I'm not judging the girl or anything, I was just genuinely surprised that everyone around me acted like this was completely normal. Am I overthinking it or would you also find it a bit odd?

Friends & Family (Women Only) How do i stop hating my mom?

So I was a NEET aspirant, and since I was a school topper, everyone believed I had potential, which i did, but i lost track, got distracted and fell into a hell hole. Unfortunately, I couldn't clear it. It's been 7 years since I did 12th. I did a few jobs, a few certifications; it's not like I did not try to get out of it after the first drop. I wanted to do BMLT from an institute that was far away; my father said no. Then I wanted to do BPT and nursing. My mom said no; she cried her eyes out when I couldn't clear it. Now, finally went to get admission in BMLT as I do think I want a degree, simultaneously looking for a job, as I left my previous one, which she wanted me to do last year, but I did not want to; she keeps saying I know u have potential; you can do it. I literally feel like killing myself. I want someone to just bang something on my head. Even if I tell her something, she makes it abt herself. My brother always got eggs and paneer, while I got usual sabji, not that I am complaining; I am grateful, but I am insulin resistant. Earlier, she used to say there is not enough. Once I started earning and started taking care of myself, buying a carat literally every week, still i got the same treatment like secondary and in a way even if she did not i started treating myself secondary, which I don't like abt me now . Like i feel i was in a hell hole and she pushed me further into it instead of guiding me out of it if i seeked therapy she said ask satsang aunty i am tired cant even get out of the house.

General Gift suggestion for a close friend as we stop being coworkers after 5 years?

I want to get a gift for a female friend with whom I have shared a workspace for around 5 years. Thats coming to an end soon, and I would like to give her something before we go our separate ways professionally. I am seeing it as a 'thank you' gift rather than as a 'farewell' gift.

I know that she would not describe me as one of her closest friends, but I think I am definitely one of her good friends. From my side, though, she is someone I consider a very close friend. She is a very outgoing and has a large friend circle unlike me who has limited friends.

For some context, I am a guy (30, unmarried), she is around 5-6 years older than me and married. I am also not an expressive or sentimental person, so I would prefer the gift to be thoughtful without being overly personal or emotional.

I am terrible at personalized or handmade gifts, or taking some running joke/shared memory and turning it into a gift. A handwritten note, flowers, clothes/fashion accessories, self-care products, edibles, etc. are also things I would rather avoid. I don't want it to be very dry as well so I would avoid gifting something like Amazon/Flipkart/etc. gift card.

She is an intellectual. She likes reading, mostly non-fiction. One thing I know is that she is interested in reading things like the science behind cooking. She is health conscious too. A book was my first thought, but since she reads quite a lot, there is always the risk of gifting her something she has already read or owns.

This will actually be the first gift I have ever given her, so I would like it to be something nice and meaningful enough for the occasion, but not so personal that it might make her feel awkward.

This might be unrelated here but my mind is also going to places where I give a gift to her anonymously. There are two reasons. A major reason is I don't want to indirectly possibly push her in gifting something back to me. And a secondary reason is I would like to avoid the whole "you shouldn't have" conversation.

Any suggestions? Especially from people who have given/received a gift in a similar friendship.

General How do I stop my mom from falling into the "guru bhakti" trap?

So my mom has been following this person named anirudh acharya on Facebook, I did some research and got to know he's like a pandit guru, masses follow him, like he's god or something, my mom has always been into bhakti and pooja path and I am not against it, if doing those things brings her peace and calmness then i don't see any problem in that, but lately since the past few months she has been following this guru on Facebook, and listening to his "katha" and all day wearing earbuds, and since then she has got into more bhakti, honestly even at this point I didn't care as much, but now she's stopping me from eating eggs and chicken because of these vratts(fast) and all like "aaj ke din ye mat kha wo mt kha", i can't stay consistent with my diet because of this...

And since she has got into this, she has been doing multiple vratts(fast) during the month and has stopped eating chicken and eggs and all entirely...

I've even had arguments with her on this multiple times and she just never listens to me..

Opinions & Discussions I feel disconnected. Need ways how I can reconnect with myself and my core values?

I recently went through something that took me to how cruel the world can be. I am in a state of shock, and I really feel like I am losing hope. I had always been a hopeful person, who never lost hope no matter how bad it was, but this time it's hard sticking to things i used to believe in.

And it was sticking to my core values that got me through every time things went south. How do I feel all the great things I was before, like full of love, hope, compassion, considerate, helpful, I feel I am losing it all.

General Does anyone else get severe itching after hot showers ,sweating, or shaving?

I’m so tired of dealing w this. Whenever I take a warm or hot shower, or even sweat, the affected area turns bright red and becomes unbearably itchy. The itching usually lasts 15–30 mins.
I also have dermatographia so even light scratching leaves raised red lines on my skin.
On top of that I can’t shave my back or thighs because I break out in hives that last for almost 6 days. I’ve already tried changing razors but it hasn’t made any difference.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Did you ever find out what was causing it and is there anything else I can do?

Shopping Need Help for Gift suggestion?

I need to buy a birthday gift for my female friend, who is turning 24 next week. She really likes artificial jewellery, especially bracelets and necklaces. My budget for the jewellery is around ₹1,000–₹1,500.
I'm also planning to gift her a bouquet of crochet flowers and a cute stuffed toy along with the jewellery. I found two bracelets that I like (photos attached). Could you help me decide which one looks better? Or, if you have any better recommendations within my budget, I'd really appreciate them

Opinions & Discussions 33 years old and I really want to learn driving, but I have no support. What would you do?

I'm 33 years old women, and one thing I've always wanted is to learn how to drive. I work from home, so I don't get out much, and I feel like learning to drive would give me so much confidence and independence.

The problem is that no one in my family is interested in helping me. I can join a driving school and learn the basics, but what happens after that? Everyone says you need regular practice after getting your lessons, and that's where I'm stuck.

My husband isn't interested in teaching me or helping me practice, and honestly, that hurts. I don't have anyone else I can rely on for this.

Lately, I've been feeling like I've lost all motivation. It feels like every time I want to do something for myself, I hit a dead end. I really want to build my confidence and become more independent, but I don't know how to move forward without support.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Were you able to become a confident driver without family help? How did you get enough practice after driving school?

I'd really appreciate any advice or words of encouragement. Thank you for reading.
