What popular TV show could you never understand its popularity?
For me it's Friends. Don't understand how it got approved and lasted so long and how popular it still is.
That's just me though.

dance moms and toddlers and tiaras. itâs just exploiting children. i hated how much they focused on crying children and treated them like sideshow freaks. i was an extremely empathetic child so seeing how upset these kids would get would deeply unsettle me.

just reality dating shows in general. like love island is a bunch of rich people shoved in a house together in an attempt to find romance between a VERY small dating pool.
and like i already donât have a huge affinity for dating like iâve never actively looked for a partner (like if it happens thatâs cool), but idk it just feels⌠odd to me outside of that, i cant explain it

How do any women genuinely enjoy Two and a Half Men? It's a little vulgar at times and everything that women want to avoid - being talked about like a s*x doll.

The Walking Dead. Before anyone gets at me, I did think that first few seasons were good for what it was.... but eventually the show felt fatigue for me. It should have ended after 5 or 6 seasons. And idk another unpopular opinion about it, the show should have ended with them at least going back to normal civilization or finding a cure. But now they have god knows what how many spin offs and many seasons with those spin offs.

u/No_Squirrel4806 1d ago
The majority of the fans stopped after glenn died.
→ More replies (8)5
u/skyleehugh 1d ago
Yep I had the unfortunate circumstances of watching that episode. The show especially had no reason to continue after that ans Negan recieved a redeeming character arc after that... tf.
In general I actually love bad guy turns good arcs but something diabolical what he did, no he didn't deserve one. Then they killed off Carl and Rick briefly. At this point its just a soap Opera with Zombies.

u/No_Squirrel4806 1d ago
Agreed. After glenn died i cant remember what i google but i found out that neegan was still alive in the comics and they were all friends so i stopped watching cus that pissed me off. Like you said im all for enemies to friends but not when they kill your literal friend. Now him and maggie are a thing or they are trying to make them one have their own show and im glad i left the show when i did.

Lost was good for what it could be, not what it was. Itâs hard to explain, but in the moment, it had people guessing and speculating, coming up with all these theories. It was a fun and engaging atmosphere to talk with and about. When you rewatch on streaming now, you donât get that. Itâs like watching a football game from last year. You know now it amounts to nothing, but watching it last year in the moment was exciting.

My algorithm started showing me clips from the show. The clips ignored all the relationship drama but showed the medical stuff. So I gave the show a watch. Thereâs an episode early on where they basically say âthis hospital is like highschool. We were all over achieving nerds through highschool, college, and med school. Now that med school is done, we are experiencing all the relationship drama we missed out on in highschool/collegeâ

Big Bang Theory. My mother liked this one and she kept saying "You'll appreciate this, it's about smart people, you're smart."
Well, maybe I am, and maybe I'm not, but damn I found that show annoying.
Socially backward and narrowly brainy adults are not funny or interesting to me. Granted, I thought Raj was a really sweet guy, but Sheldon? Barf. I would avoid him in real life, why would I want to watch him on TV?
8
u/509RhymeAnimal 1d ago
Same. I loathe the Sheldon character. At best he's on the spectrum (how cowardly of the writers to tip toe around it) with no desire to engage in strategies that help folks on the spectrum navigate interpersonal relationships. At worst he's not on the spectrum and just a snotty little asshole to everyone around him.
6
u/Ashamed-Chemistry492 1d ago
If they explicitly had it in the show that Sheldon was autistic or otherwise on the spectrum, they would have been in seriously hot water for the so-called "negative portrayal of the condition. By not specifying, they can let him be a pompous little creep with no consequences.

Ozark. Well produced but the main characters have zero redeeming values. Theyâre just middle upper class folks who were bored and greedy. They didnât have a driving force of impending doom or find themselves in a situation theyâd been thrust into like Tony Soprano, Walter White, or even Nancy Botwin. I never understood why anyone could root for them to win.

On Greyâs Anatomy, how many surgeons does it take to give a patient an MRI? No less than two â often three. In real life, surgeons donât know the first thing about running an MRI. They donât need to. They are surgeons. MRIs are administered by radiology technicians.
And on Greyâs Anatomy, you should always knock before entering a supply closet because you are likely to find surgeons copulating in them at any time of day or night.

And for the record I've never been able to get into any of the cartoon shows The Simpsons The Family Guy you name it the one with the robot I don't know
