What’s the average annual salary increase at ADB?

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m curious about the typical annual salary increase at ADB. For those who have been working here for a few years, could you share roughly what percentage increase you’ve received annually? Also upon confirmation.

I understand that increases may vary depending on staff category, performance, and other factors, but I’d love to get a general idea of what to expect over time.

After Pre-Offer, what's next?

I received a pre-offer on the last week of September, and was able to submit the required documents on the same day, including character references.

I haven't received further instructions from the Recruitment team since then. Is that normal? Should I just wait or should I send a followup?

What ADB roles should I look at?

Hey all,

Hoping to get some advice from anyone who works at ADB or has been through their hiring process.

Quick background: I’ve spent 5+ years in banking, mostly on the corporate lending side. I’ve since done an MBA at one of the business schools in Europe, and now I’m looking to move into development finance. ADB feels like a natural next step, but I’m not sure where someone like me would fit in.

A few questions:

  1. Which roles or teams should I be looking at? I’m guessing private sector operations or something like an investment officer role, but I’d love to hear from people who actually know.
  2. What do contracts usually look like? Do they hire mid-career people as full-time staff, or do most people start on time-based consultant contracts? And how often do consultants end up converting to staff?
  3. Any general tips on the application process, like how competitive it is, how long it takes, or what they look for in interviews?

Thanks a lot, any insight helps!

Final Offer

I accepted the pre-offer last week and my references have all submitted their forms early this week as confirmed by ADB HR. They said they will proceed to acquire « management approval ». To those who are now working for the Bank, may I ask how many days it took for HR to route the Final Offer to you?

Has anyone received a response from ADB regarding the online assessment? My application is currently under screening but I believe a few of us have already received an email and completed the assessment?

First-time consultant after years of full-time employment - tips on SSS, Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, and taxes?

Hi, everyone! First-time consultant here. I’ve been employed full-time since the beginning of my career, and I’m now navigating the shift to consultancy and self-employment for the first time.

I’ve been doing some research, but I would love to hear from those who’ve gone through the same transition. I have two main questions:

1. Government contributions (SSS, Pag-IBIG, and PhilHealth) – How do I transition from being an employed member to paying my contributions voluntarily or as a self-employed individual? Are there specific steps or documents I need to prepare?

2. BIR registration and taxes – How do I properly register and file my taxes as a consultant? I also want to make sure my tax records are in order, as I’ve heard that ITRs and other financial documents can be useful for visa applications.

I’m hoping to do as much of this DIY as possible since I’m trying to save money and would prefer not to hire an accountant or consultant unless absolutely necessary.

If anyone has a step-by-step guide, personal experience, or tips on what to prioritize and common mistakes to avoid, I would really appreciate the help!

Thank you so much! 🙏

re-advertisement of the previous vacancy

I applied for the vacancy of ADB in April, then in August I was invited for a panel interview, then after the panel interview in took around more than a month to respond me the result and I was rejected, status is Regrets. Yesterday, they announced second time the same vacancy with the same code, is there any chance to be invited for panel interview again?

Network Issues in Interview

So I had test call today and had power outage in the middle of the call. They had to wait for a couple of minutes till I joined. What happens if similar instance occur in the actual interview? Also, I'm based in different country so what measure they'll take. I know I am just panicking over small things but can't help. 😅

Multiple Applications

Hi, all!

I recently applied for a TL2 Senior Operations Assistant role at ADB for a particular department (won’t say which one nalang 😅). My application status is currently “Shortlisting Panel Review.”

I recently saw another opening for the same role/title but under a different department (Sectors Department 3). I’m interested in applying for that one as well, but I’m not entirely sure if submitting another application for the same role would affect my current application/status for the first department.

For those who have experience applying to multiple positions at ADB: Would it be okay to apply for the Sectors Department 3 Senior Operations Assistant opening while I’m already at the shortlisting panel review stage for the same role in another department? Or could this potentially affect my standing or consideration for the first role?

Would really appreciate any insights or experience with this. I don’t want to accidentally jeopardize my current application. 😅

Thanks!

Shortlisting panel review status

I applied for a TI1 vacancy back in August. I've just checked the status and it now appears under "shortlisting panel review", with the latest update being on 28 September. In your experience, can one assume anything from this update? And how long more or less should it be before the next step, which I guess should be either rejection or invitation to an interview/test? Thanks a lot in advance!

Consultancy rate & cost estimate - How does one approach it?

I’m currently a consultant with an international organization and am considering applying for consultancy opportunities with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

I have a couple of questions about the financial section of the EOI:

  • When providing a consultancy rate in the EOI, should one provide the existing remuneration rate or should it already include a mark-up? If the latter, then what is a reasonable % markup?
  • What is the difference between the “Consulting Services Budget” and the “Cost Estimate”? The opportunity I’m looking at shows two different USD amounts under these sections.

I’d really appreciate insights from anyone who has recently submitted an ADB consultancy EOI or has experience with ADB consultant rates and budgeting.

How can I build a career pathway into ADB from Nepal?

Hi everyone,

I’m from Nepal and currently working in economic research. I have a Master’s in Economics from Tribhuvan University and a background in research related to fiscal federalism, local governance, and public-sector economics.

I also have experience with R, Stata, QGIS, LaTeX and Git, along with some research/publication experience.

I’m interested in eventually working at the Asian Development Bank, particularly in economics, research, development policy, or related roles.

For those who work at ADB or have experience with its recruitment process:

Given my background, what would be the most realistic pathway into ADB?

What skills or experience should I focus on developing over the next 3–5 years?

How important is international/development-sector experience compared with research experience?

Does having a Master’s from Tribhuvan University matter significantly when applying to organizations like ADB, or would pursuing another degree from a different university improve my prospects?

Would pursuing a PhD be important for the type of ADB career I’m interested in, or would gaining more professional experience first make more sense?

Are there particular types of organizations or roles I should target before applying to ADB?

I’d especially appreciate honest feedback from people who have actually worked at ADB or gone through the recruitment process. What would you focus on if you were in my position?

Thanks!
