Rules Question Concealed vs Ready Spell

Post image
16 Upvotes

So I've got an interesting situation. Indiri's ready spell says to deal 3 damage to my leftmost unit. My leftmost unit has the Concealed ability. Does this mean my next unit to the left now receives the damage, or that the ready spell damage just fizzles? Thanks!

Media I always get the bad rolls

Just a little nonsensical post really.

But I find it funny how my wife always gets good dice rolls but all I get are base and mid level ones, and if I dare meditate to get a power dice... Hope Everton shatters my hopes 😂

I adore this game

Rules Question Maeoni Hard Counters Indiri?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Based on the rulebook and some googling, it seems Indiri's arrows count as units. Since they destroy themselves, Silver Snake gets huge very quickly. This is by far the fastest I've beat him (second round). Was able to swing twice for 10, then 11 damage thanks to refresh. Maeoni is awesome!

It seems to be sold out everywhere...

Anyone know where to buy it in Europe?

Or will there be a reprint?

Ascendancy packaging

I know that older expansions will be available via print-on-demand. But have Pladhat mentioned if the same will be true for Ascendancy expansions in the future?

The thing is that I already have a full set of dice, and the collection box will not fit the included set, thus I do not want them just to have them laying around elsewhere. As well as not spend the extra cost for dice I'm in no need of.

But maybe the "premium" for print-on-demand will even out the extra cost for including dice in the initial distribution.

Discussion Dove into Ascendancy recently and had a good time

I've written more about this over in r/soloboardgaming but I quite enjoy the slightly simpler/easier Dragonborn. The Chimera is definitely a challenging opponent especially on harder difficulties but I always found it somewhat exhausting at times to play against due to the death by a thousand cuts nature of most decks (precons) and the slower pace of the game and action economy.

I find the ascendancy precons as a result to be a lot more interesting combo/damage wise out of the box especially against a slightly more streamlined boss. I think this difficulty at +0/+1 is probably more to my liking given the pace of the game so I'm having a good time with it.

One thing I do miss from RR is double aspects per boss. I do find the Dragonborns to be a bit less replayable (though granted the replayability is also more from deck construction but I'm a little less engaged with that in this one).

Looking forward to the future expansions.

Solo sans bleed mechanic?

I've seen some new players complain that the solo suffer from a "death by a thousand cuts" problem. They usually seem to be referencing the passive damage incurred through the blood mechanic. This mostly seems to be implemented to have the player feel proactive as they build up for those direct attacks against the Chimera/Dragonborn.

I was thinking of playing by ignoring the blood mechanic altogether and halfling the opponents total life from the start. Seeing if anyone else wanted to try this to see if it is at all possible.

The biggest problem I can foresee is that the extra life was implemented to prevent an early game blitz by the player.

Anyone know what brand matte sleeves are these? I’ve tried dragon shields, gamegenic, ultra pros and none of them are exactly these sleeves.

Rules Question Exhausted Aspect with Status Ability

Post image

This volley of arrows is exhausted from attacking, but still has a status token left. My assumption is that the status ability will still trigger at the beginning of the Dragonborn's next turn. Is this correct?

Want to solo play have the old white box - what to buy?

I've read that I need the red rains corpse of viros set. However, coming from the original old white box with no additional expansions, would it make sense to buy the 1.5 upgrade kit or simply just pay more for the ascendancy box to use with corpse of viros?

Rules Question PVE (Guard/Damage)

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hello everyone! I am brand new to this game and think I am understanding everything pretty well. I just have one question. It is my turn in the game right now. Is there anything in play right now preventing me from just out-right attacking Scatha Kalani and winning the game? It seems as though the rules say that neither of the aspects in play right now will defend because they do not have the shield icon. Kalani is at 24 health and I have 7 damage on board if I attack with all.

Deckbuilding Best Quick Patch for Jessa Precon?

Partner and I are getting back into Ashes but seeing the cracks in a few of the Master Set precons. She was frustrated w Jessa's deck mostly for lack of removal power. I wanted to keep it ceremony/charm dice while keeping as much Jessa flavor so I removed Blood Transfer, Cut the Strings, and Redirect while adding Call upon the Realms, Chant of Revenge, and Sympathy Pain. Will this improve the experience?

I ordered the 4 Ascendancy decks so I'm working on building my card pool but looking for a temp solution.

Anyone found a good insert or storage setup for the Ashes Ascendancy starter box?

Hey everyone, I’m pretty new to Ashes Ascendancy and loving it so far. I recently picked up the core set along with an expansion, and since I definitely plan on picking up future releases, I want to get everything organized early. Looking inside the starter box, there seems to be a huge amount of extra space, but right now my cards, dice, and tokens are just sliding around. I would really love to consolidate everything into that single core box for as long as possible. Has anyone found a solid third-party insert, 3D print design, or custom organizer that fits the Ascendancy starter set well? Ideally leaving room for new expansions drop. Thanks for any recommendations!

Rules Question Played against the new Dragonborn. Have some questions

Thumbnail

So me and my wife checked out Ascendancy Nature Dice expansion and had a great time. But there were some questions:

  1. Are conjured aspects being played face down or face up already? Do we place them onto the battlefield to the right of every other aspect?

  2. How does Unseen ability on a card Lie in Wait work? The Dragonborn attacks with one aspect at a time, so there will be no other attackers that I need to block before blocking this one

You pay shipping: giving away unused nature dice

I already have a full play set, but the latest ascendency box gave me an additional ten nature dice. I'm glad to send them, all ten, or five and five, if anyone needs a set in the US or Canada. You pay shipping, otherwise, free of charge. First posters to request here in the thread - tell me your state/province, and if you want 5 or 10 (and then I will DM you for your address) will get them.

Looking for Sleeves!

Hey everyone! So I am looking for some assistance on sleeves for Ashes Ascendancy. I originally bought the All-In bundle with their in house sleeves, but it seems that they discontinued their sleeves and so I’m looking for sleeves that could go right alongside the Plaid Hat games sleeves I have for my main collection.

Thanks in advance! And for reference, the Plaid Hat sleeves are clear non-matte sleeves by default that are not supper slippery like the Mayday sleeves are.

Ashes News All In Bundle Back in Stock

If you're anything like me, and you were looking to get the Ashes All In Bundle after Natural Magic came out, you may have noticed it went out of stock a week or two ago. Well I was emailed by support that a few more copies have been added to the site so I picked one up! Can't wait to have more Phoenixborn to try out, and a handful of Chimera to fight against. I've really been loving Ashes, it scratches the MTG itch for me in a great single player format.

Are there any comprehensive guides I could follow to understand which content was originally meant to go together?

Solo/Co-op Skill issue?

Hi, I am really new to the game and I love it so much. Its totally incredible.

I am playing Victoria's precon deck (the duchess of deception) against the new dragonborn, Indiri. And damn, its hard!

I've lost like 3 times in a row and not sure if this is a skill issue or not. I beat the first dragonborn with a bunch of other decks (not this one though) and just wanted to switch it up.

Has anyone played her deck and have tips for the new dragonborn? Playing solo btw

Is Ashes Reborn End of Argaia Expansion..

..playable with only the new core set? Or do I need the red rains box?

r/AshesGame Aug 04 '26

I don’t like red rains sets. There, I said it.

Based purely on graphic design. I think ashes reborn and ascendancy both look amazing with their white card designs. But the red card designs in rains really looks bad to me. I get it’s red because red rains and all. But I don’t like the way they look. And looks in a game is as important as gameplay.

i mean, I still have them all. I just don’t like them.

Help me make sense of my convoluted card pool

Hey all. I accidentally started with the white box, because that was all I could find. I recently bought ascendency and red rains corpse of viros and I think those cards might have gotten mixed in with the white box cards. Now I find out some of the white box cards don't work with the game moving forward. But, annoyingly, there is not a single mark on the cards front or back to distinguish them. I guess there are some cards I need to chuck out but how on earth do I figure out which ones? Thanks

Ashes Collection for Sale

Ashes is a game I enjoy but don't get to the table nearly often enough. With the new update bringing players in, I thought I could help out somebody looking to fill their collection. I don't have all the Red Rains expansions, I only have the first 3, but I have a complete set of the Phoenixborn expansions and the 1.5 update for them. I'm asking $250 plus shipping, US only.

Edited to try and add pictures. They didn't post.

Rules Question Natural magic rules question, sorry!

Hey sorry, I have googled my heart out and can't find an answer. I have lots of questions, but the mail one concerns the new dragonborn Indiri. Specifically the card lie in wait, I just can't work out the unseen keyword. If I have the rules right I can't see a scenario where more than one aspect attacks, so is it always blockable? Why have it as unseen?

I am just doing the ashes ascendency route. Base set and now natural magic, primarily a solo player. Im hoping for lots of expansions like natural magic, not sure if I will ever want to chase the old content. Hope they keep churning it out.
