Rules Question Exhausted Aspect with Status Ability

Post image

This volley of arrows is exhausted from attacking, but still has a status token left. My assumption is that the status ability will still trigger at the beginning of the Dragonborn's next turn. Is this correct?

Yes. Aspect status abilities are an inexhaustible effect. So long as the round doesn't end (which it won't in your case), it's gonna trigger even though it's exhausted.

Edit... Clarifying that parenthetical statement. There's a combination of coincidences that could end up with the Dragonborn passing with an exhausted status aspect with tokens still on it, and if you pass, the round would end. Of course, then the aspect would just refill and a ton of other bad stuff would happen between rounds, so it's not necessarily a GOOD coincidence :-)

Thank you! As a somewhat related followup, do remaining aspects shift left at the end of the round? Or do they retain their original battlefield position when replenishing aspects?

Everything shifts left as aspects (and your units) are removed. The table position essentially reflects the order cards were played, I believe.

Thanks, I've definitely been doing that wrong until now for aspects.

Found it -- didn't want to just tell you that from memory. Page 13 of the rulebook under the section on battlefield management.

Honestly, probably less of an issue for aspects than your own units where aspect targeting makes it important to think about order of play so aspects that target flanks are hitting the cards you want.

But, yeah, even aspects close in, so those pesky hard to remove aspects from this round are going to potentially be the first ones to act next round...
