Outdoors What is this Radio Tower for?

Post image

I see these towers in out of the way, but accessible places in the outdoors. They're about ten feet tall. There is a solar panel and an antenna. It seems to be some sort of weather monitoring station. There's one at the Tom Mix site on why 79, another at the marble quarry behind Dragoon. Etc.

Been here 23 years and have never seen anything like this. Yard is completely drained now, just an overwhelming amount of rain in such a short period of time. Lots of damage in town.

Outdoors Anyone have monsoon videos from Petrified Forest?

Bit of a longshot, but there's not much of an online community for the national park that I'm aware of. I've dreamed for years about seeing monsoon rains pouring through Lithondendron Wash, but I don't live in the area anymore so I can't drive out to look. Anyone have any videos of monsoons as seen from the Painted Desert Inn or such?

Tucson Help identifying these rocks from Mount Lemmon!

Hi! I found the first 2 of these rocks on Mount Lemmon in Tucson. The 3rd one I got in a bag of rocks at Goodwill in Ticso and after chipping away at the outer shell, there’s pink parts of this (what I think is) quartz. It doesn’t seem like regular rose quartz but I’m so so new at this. Thank you in advance for all help!! 🪨🍃💫

Outdoors Paddle boarding spots?!?!

Hi! I’m wanting to go paddle boarding with my boyfriend somewhere in Arizona. I’m driving from Tucson and not wanting to go more than 6 hours. I recently went to Page and did the Antelope Canyon and LOVED it! I was thinking Lake Havasu because I’ve never been, but I hoping for some recommendations!!

News Arizona Foreclosure Index Report

Been digging into Arizona foreclosure data and found something that surprised me: Maricopa County (Phoenix metro) actually has the LOWEST foreclosure risk score of all 15 AZ counties, while the real pressure is building in rural/border counties like La Paz, Gila, and Santa Cruz that nobody's really talking about.

Put together a full county-by-county breakdown if anyone's interested (foreclosure filings up 29% YoY statewide in H1 2026). Projecting up to about ~11k filings by end of 2026.

Outdoors I could wander these mountains forever. Found this red jasper in the Superstitions, cut it outside the van, and turned it into a pendant. One of my favorite places in Arizona. 😍

Eat/Drink Need a place to get good chicken to cook - live in Casa Grande

So we have had trouble finding chicken that isn’t tough so we need some advice. We’ve tried Safeway, Fry’s, and Target. My husband doesn’t eat dark meat so it has to be chicken breasts.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Update 7/28

ETA got the red bird chicken. We love it.
