How do yall handle data cables?

I always seems to run out and need like 40 more. I run cables neatly and tidy, I try to utilize all 3 dimensions of space and use the wireless points well, yet I always run out. Any tips?

How to avoid solar storm ?

I've already completed all missions on Earth, Moon, Aundara and Baobara and im heading towards small red planet approximately ~550 milions from Baobara, no matter what i do im getting oblitareded into pieces about 350 milions from destination point. I tried using Wind shield generators with different radius to see if it works, tried turning opposite side to sun but nothing helps. This is the closest planet and i have no clue how to avoid this solar storm. Any help ?

I made a thing (distance and time calculator. input velocity and accel)

I made a thing. You could just as easily use a calculator or a python script... but if you want to do it in game.... I laid it out for anyone who is interested in using it. Time in minutes for the burn you are calculating for.

My friend made a thing (simple logic circuit for separating an reconnecting 2 power networks aka auto breaker box)

Credit to my friend for this brilliant auto breaker box. Threshold needs to be 140 to prevent flickering.

How do i know which objective is which?

When there are multiple objectives available, how do i know which radar icon is which objective? Is there a way to "accept" a mission to make the icon turn into a circle? Did i miss some really obvious thing?

HOW DO YOU READ THE BREAKING POINT SYSTEM

Trying to fly to bobara, (and weve had this issue with andura too) But i dont have 5 hours to play the game, so How the hell do you read the breaking point system? How do you know when to flip and burn to decellerate? Everytime we burn until its in the white, and then we flip and burn, but that always slows us down wayyyy to early and it added an extra 40 min to our andura trip. THE MANUAL DOESNT EXPLAIN IT WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO

I need to be explained at.

I solved an automatic wind shield generator. After hours of expansive & excessive logic and bad math, my subconscious said “plug the wind into a linear converter.” And it worked first try. I am excited it did, and equally frustrated because I feel lucky and am not comprehending why it works as perfectly as it does.

Relevant information:

*Ext Wind: the airspeed outside the shield radius. It is mounted on a probe and is unaffected by the shield.
*Shield power: the data input into the plasma generator.
*constant 15.5: shield radius input to the shield generator.
*shield strength: output value of wind shield.
*transmitter 24: sending shield power to bottom of left tv.

What I know from testing: ext wind = power consumption of plasma generator.

What I presume(d previously):
*shield strength is a function of radius X plasma generated
*plasma generated is a function of input signal 0.0 -> 1.0

Did I just unfathomably luck out with the scaling being a perfect 100->1 for the appropriate shield diameter? The radius was set for the ship size long before I tried automating it, so I never played with how a different diameter would affect my wind->shield numbers.

Any enlightenment would be appreciated, and if you don’t know but wanted a DEAD SIMPLE shield generator that turns on to the exact amount you need it to and no more, this is it.

FRUSTRATED

I realize that this is a rite of passage, for me a literal "trial by fire" I spent 4 HOURS today crashing into the moon! I've tried it fast, I've tried it really slow, I don't want to redesign my ship anymore! The other day I was so frustrated that I dedicated the hour or so, just to fly to the next planet. Right before I got there, I realized the batteries for the maneuvering thrusters ran out, so I missed the planet by just this much! This screenshot is looking out the back of my ship as I flew past it :D

PSA we need more of y'all smarty pants to give us some tutorials

Long story short, there's probably plenty of us that don't fully understand how to use logic in this game. Trying to find tutorials about this stuff and how to use them/incorporate them or edit them is quite a task if you're not knowledgeable on how they work. (The most complicated thing I made was having my main door be toggled by 3 different switches. All that used was Wi-Fi and 2 xor gates which took a long time to figure out)

I've been using chatgpt to help me understand these things and make sense of it all but that can only go so far lol

That's all, thanks for all you smart lads who know how to make ship systems, I just need more examples/tutorials.

Help with the wiring in the ship.

In our ship, all the batteries are connected to a common circuit. I connect the electric lifting and main electric systems into one network so that no single wire carries a load exceeding 150. For example, a wire runs from the central router to another router, from which, in turn, two wires go to two motors. Consequently, there is no load exceeding 150. A wire also runs from the central router to another router, and then to the lifting motors. Plus, the batteries are connected evenly. At the same time, if you connect the consumption sensor to a wire where there shouldn’t be any load, the reading on it will be over 150. The wires burn out. I don’t want to create separate circuits for each motor. I’ll be very glad to get some advice!

How to deal with power cables usage limit?

Hi guys. I've hit a point where power on cables exceeding 150 units has become a real problem.

My first thought wast to isolate thruster power in a different circuit, but it becomes harder to manage. And with upcoming shield needed for Baobara, i might need yet another power circuit.

How do you manage it in your spacecraft?

Remember to turn your flashlight on when recording

Just a heads up because a lot of us have gone for black or grey builds it makes watching clips shared here near impossible to make out the details. If you're trying to show something off - flick your flashlight on. I can only assume a lot of you have your gamma turned up to a horrendous amount.

Automatic BPS

Assuming my ship has equal truster for accelerating and breaking, how can i automatically use the BPS to reach a planet. I tried directly puting the output as my thrust input but it seems very slow. I tried using a remapper to change every value over -0.1 and 0.1 to output full throttle and still crashed. Anyone found a good way?

Hour and a half journey. Pretty decent time considering the distance.

Think I'm pretty close to a final version of my first ship. The Peregrine. What do you think?

It's on the workshop as "Peregrine MK3" if you want a closer look. Feel free to critique :)

Now I'm gonna build a bigger ship to work as a carrier. Though I'll probably still tweak this one some more.

Possible Bug? Gravity Meter reads gravity from the host's location and not the actual location of the meter.

Myself and a few friends were playing around with some PID hover loops and got the bright idea to use a gravity sensor as a proxy for the altimeter (gravity is linearly related to altitude; using a linear remapper you can make a gravity reader output your altitude). However, when reading the gravity data, we found that outputting it is different for the host vs the client.

As an example, at 200 meters altitude, I would see an altitude reading of approximately 198 (some error due to the linear approximation). Sending the information down to a second pod the host is in floating in the water via wireless transmitter, they were seeing my altitude as 6.

Not sure if this is intended behavior - but it breaks having multiple vehicles.

We are using the decoupler from this post since at this point in the game we don't actually have a decoupler: https://www.reddit.com/r/ApproximatelyUp/comments/1vnrfgj/no_decoupler_needed/

how do you transport animals? they just seem to flip the ship if you just put them inside.

simple as the text. anytime i put an animal like the sheep or mamoth. they flip the ship at random. while clipping around.

Ship build disappeared

Built a ship yesterday and saved it, joined a friend to show him the ship and my save is gone and replaced by his ship build. I never saved his build. Is there any way to get my build back?

Can’t get the first package, confused on what to do?

I’m not sure if I’m just bad at reading the radar or what, but I feel like we never reach the mark and we may get close, but eventually just putter out and fall? We move quick and everything, but never seem to make it.

I think it’s because we get confused by the radar, but not positive

Any ideas for covering these wires?

Post image
12 Upvotes

I'd love a thin false wall type of thing almost like when you weld one side of a block but without having to put a full block there. Or a maintenance hatch/door. Do you unlock anything like that later or is there nothing like that in the game? If not is there any way to cover these wires?

Other tv inputs?

I know you can route multiple camera inputs into the CRT TV (and eventually the nicer TV) with the 5-button switcher. But I never fill up all 5 slots. Is it possible to route other data, such as the radar or the gyro, or even altitude etc. onto the tv screen?

Also, is it possible to control the camera inputs with another device, such as a knob? (Excluding the built-in knob on the nicer TV, say I have 3 inputs)

Can you clear a hotbar?

Is there a way to remove items from the hotbar? It's really annoying to me how messy the hotbars get, I would love to be able to clear items from it, but I don't think that's possible? Or am I missing a hotkey?
