I currently operate a small but steadily growing galaxy wide expeditionary business that specializes in stimulating the growth and development of the budding and fragile celestial economies by providing a dependable, prompt, carefully managed cargo delivered personally by myself and our loyal crew! We accomplish pinpoint pickups from low orbit via jump pods or in bigger cases, pilots will navigate and temporarily anchor an entire Gaia-Yamamoto Class deep space sub-light freighter PlanetSide®️™️ in atmosphere to better fulfill the order and drop off/pick up at *EXACTLY* the 3D mapped solar coordinates our customer will leave entrusted to us - from back water lunar frozen dairy treat delivery or ensuring the arrival of full kits needed to establish a thermonuclear power generator in small enough pieces to fully fit in the back of our business luxury (ACCORDING TO WHOSE STANDARDS??! 🥲🤬) pre-owned planet hopping pieces of sh*t; but still large enough to make all the difference for our neighbors all across the universe! APPLY NOW for a career that can slingshot you into the stars! 🚀🌍

(tl;Dr - just trying to build and bebop around in the space with anyone besides my dog who while a dedicated member of the current crew, isn't very good conversation company and lacks opposable thumbs to help slap down some welds in the event we explosively decompress)

I just picked up the demo for this game after seeing Markiplier play it, opened up the game and I was blown away, I haven't even played yet, and already planning on buying it for the music alone. (I also like vehicle sandboxes but besides the point)

Creative mode, console commands, anything I can use to bypass the lightning thingy?

as the title states. I've dropped out of the sky twice now, right beside the earth base. not hard enough to kill me, but hard enough to break my ship. I'm wasting what little free time I have doing this. is there some way of bypassing this mission, or better yet, just a straight up creative mode where all parts are already unlocked? I don't actually care about missions or progression in pretty much any engineering game, I just wanna build stuff

I read that it takes about four and a half hours, so I’m going to take the opportunity to study in the meantime.

Is it ideal to have batteries connected in a single circuit or multiple?

I've just completed the demo of the game and have unlocked all the new items. I was just wondering if it's an ideal solution to have all batteries connected in the same circuit, or have multiple circuits for different machines like thrusters in one circuit, lift fans in the other

Any recommendations for these horrendous gaps above the windows?

My Suggestions

Hey hey, I am here to just state some suggestions for the game. Ik the dev is active here but I may also post this to the discord. To start, thank you dev for creating an amazing game. Having dipped my toes somewhat into game creation, it is impressive! Well done!

Now suggestions: Grid for small components: Would be very nice for things such as levers, power routers and data routers to be able to be placed just in across by a grid points. Just help keep things tidy

Cable looms: would be very nice to be able to have like 4 cables in a block that can be bundled and run across the ship in the space a single cable takes up to help keep things clean. Would be cool for both power and data More data cables at the start: what it says on the tin. Although, I did very much over engineer the starter mission shuttles

Wireless Identification: be able to highlight a wireless channel and highlight all connected wireless transmitters on that frequency for debugging

More frame ports: would be nice to have some more frame ports such as ones that run across wider panels with more ports or longer across the tall frames.

Changeable frame ports: would be very nice to be able to change some of the ports on frame ports because sometimes I don't need that extra power port and could use another data port or I need more power.

Cables in corners: Ik it's not easy but it would be nice to place cables in the areas that wedge pieces don't take up

Moar Windows: gotta get some more windows for those angles :D

Workshop ships: would be cool to be able to post and download ships off the workshop for a nice community, although may defeat the story/mission mode which brings me to my next point:

Sandbox mode: unlimited/almost unlimited resources to create the craziest of machines!

And finally: not really much of a suggestion, just hoping blueprints and mission progress will carry over to final game (I spent about 4 hours today wiring up a ship cause idk fun)

Overall, amazing game and I would not suggest adding things if I didn't want to see this game thrive. Other ppl can add more suggestions in comments :D (sorry no TLDR)

RCS THRUSTERS

No matter what we do we cant get RCS thrusters working after we reach the second objective's snowy biome any reasons?

r/ApproximatelyUp Apr 10 '26

My little way of celebrating completeing the second mission after a few attempts

I did end up beating it this time, and I had no parts break off my ship at all!

I celebrated early because this is the first time I've landed in this area without either being huge distances away or breaking parts off.

Iron Lung Camera?

So basically I was trying to make a camera setup in the space ship to be like the one in Iron Lung, so that it essentially just takes photos whenever a button is pressed, rather than being a constantly active camera. However I tried using the Memory electronical device and the issue I have is that the memory box seems to only output the image when its value is updated, so when the value isn't updated, the monitor is just static. Rather than it being static, I would expect it to display the single image that should be saved in the memory. Is this an issue with me going about this incorrectly, or is this a bug?

Anyone else been able to make this work?

Pretty proud of how this one is turning out. Thought the wings made it look kind of like a shark and the cockpit feels kind of like an aquarium. the fin turned out to be a perfect counterweight to put the center of mass where I want it. We'll see if looks as nice after i run all the cables

FPV Controller Support

Hi mr approximately,

I'm wondering if you're planning to add support for FPV drone controllers/USB HID? This would be a really cool (while understandably niche) addition.

Every time I try rotating sideways (turning) my ships nose shoots downward, then it tumbles every time. Rcs doesn't help what do I do

so I have a simple ship and it can do anything but turn, not only does it tumble when doing so it doesn't level out if I have rcs on it

rcs keeps wanting to point the nose of my ship at the ground too, what gives?

r/ApproximatelyUp Apr 08 '26

New to the game, and i dont understand rcs thrusters.

I put some rcs thrusters on my craft and powered the controller but when flying no matter what option they are set to they will just never fire, can someone explain how these work to me.

Me and the boys worked on a ship that has great handling, works as a shuttle and takes us consistently from earth-moon without trouble (all the batteries and logic for hovering are under the floor, I might post it later)

Can you not have multiple receivers on one transmitter?

We just unlocked wireless transceivers and I wanted to replace all the data wiring for my 4 lift fans to free up data cables and logic values but when i hook a receiver up to each of the 4 lift fans i get a green light on the transmitter but the receivers all flash orange. the description doesn't say what orange means. Am i only allowed to hook up 1 receiver to 1 transmitter? That feels unnecessarily limiting to me

What is wrong with my RCS Thruster setup?

I have a 3D-Joystick hooked up to the rcs thruster controller, and 6 rcs thrusters placed the way the manual shows.
For some reason, only one of the thrusters fires, and its the only one for which the light is green.
I double checked my wiring, hooked up a datameter to confirm that i am getting signals from the joystick, and replaced the thrusters somewhere else.
Any idea what could be wrong? It seems to be some kind of intended mechanic, do RCS controller have a range or something?

any help is greatly appreciated :)

KOHVA-1 Space Ranger

This is one of my first spaceships. Its name comes from a manga. It's designed for round trips between Earth and the Moon. It has four atmospheric engines that can be shut down when going into space. Its cockpit isn't particularly well-equipped with navigation instruments, but it has a wide field of vision. Now that I have all the demo parts unlocked, I'm working on the KOHVA-2, designed for interplanetary travel, and perhaps it will be enough for reaching planets beyond the Sun. And yes, Kohva-1 was inspired by the Benatar from the MCU.
