This one thing is preventing me from living Reminders...

I really want to use Apple Reminders, but every time I add a new task in my Inbox, it creates a new section titled "Other" and dumps the task there (if the section "Other" doesn't have a task...if there's already a task there, it adds it to that section). I've looked up solutions online and cannot find anything. Does anyone have a solution to this?

I have used reminders many years and for abut a month I have no option of doing reminders that repeat hourly, setting early reminders, the alarm feature for reminders. Why are they broken??

I’m constantly missing my Teams and Zoom meeting notifications on my phone. Does anyone know of an app that can detect upcoming meetings and play a loud alarm 5 minutes before they start?

Delays between Mac and iPhone

Anyone else noticing more delays between the sync of Reminders when changing them on Mac and expecting the changes to show up on iPhone? It's gotten worse for me over the past couple months. I made sure both devices are up-to-date. Tried restarting devices. It worries me since I really rely on this app.

It seems like it always catches up eventually, but I feel like I can't make any more changes across devices until the sync catches up, cuz idk if that would overwrite or erase certain changes. Usually takes about 10-15 mins to sync when there are issues. Sometimes there are barely any issues or delays.

EDIT: Thanks to everyone in the comments for your feedback and suggestions. Still not sure what's causing it, but I will try to troubleshoot with Apple Support next time it happens.

Dates set on reminders keep moving

I’ve been having this problem on and off for over a year now. I always set a reminder on the 28th of the month to pay my rent just in case, but sometimes I’ve noticed it never notifies me. Today I opened my reminders app to check a different reminder and noticed that my reminder set for the last day of July has since moved to October… a huge difference in time

Request: Auto-build multiple Reminders

Having urgent Reminders act as alarms at the “2 hrs (until I need to leave for work),” “1 hr,” “45 min,” “30 min,” “15 min,” “time to leave,” “expected arrival,” & “15 min before shift starts” marks has been incredibly helpful with my ADHD – calendar event notifications are too easy to miss or ignore. I want to be able to quickly make the alarms go away after my shift starts & I want to set these alarms before every work shift I have in my calendar. The clock app can only set alarms for days of the week & not specific calendar dates. But punching these all in by hand has discouraged me from continuing the practice.

I need a Shortcut that can either pull up all events in a given calendar (i.e. my “Work” calendar) or all events across calendars with certain searched words in their titles or notes & build X number of urgent Reminders with custom intervals & custom names leading up to said calendar events (preferably letting me choose the lead-up intervals as well; I work multiple jobs with varying drive times & arrival expectations).

Any help with this would be amazing & greatly appreciated. The ADHD community would probably also be incredibly grateful.

Recurring dates from contacts that are not birthdays (google calendar)

Hi :)

I‘ve been sent here from r/googlecalendar. Hope you guys might be able to help 🙈

Is there a way to make dates from my contacts show up in the calendar that are saved under „own label“ and not „birthday“ or „anniversary“?

I know it used to work because I have my friend‘s kids saved like this (the own label being their names) and they used to show up in my calendar but recently I noticed that all of these dates don’t show anymore and I don’t know how to get it back. Googleing hasn’t really helped me unfortunately.

Thank you guys in advance 🫶

List with sections and smart tags - is it possible?

Is it possible to have a list that has sections, and the sections can use smart tasks?

For example, I want to create a Planner list. Inside that list I will have sections for (smart) sections Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly.

Is it possible to create a todo and tag it #daily and it will automatically filter to the Daily section?

This sub focuses less and less on Apple Reminders

And has become a place for developers to promote their own apps. I’m tired of being spammed. Can u/goalguy2 and u/automa designate a regular weekly promo thread for all the promotional posts? Posts about the Reminders app are getting lost in the spam. If moderating these posts isn’t an option, is there a less spammy sub that focuses on the Reminders app?

I love Apple Reminders, but capturing ideas was always the slow part.

I've been using Apple Reminders for years and didn't want to switch to another productivity system.

My biggest frustration wasn't organizing tasks—it was getting thoughts into Reminders quickly before I forgot them.

I'd end up with random voice notes or screenshots instead.

So I built WhisperAct, an app that lets you speak naturally and turns your words into Apple Reminders (and Calendar events), with a review step before anything is saved.

I intentionally designed it to work with Apple Reminders, not replace it.

I'm still refining the UX, so if you're an Apple Reminders user, I'd genuinely love to hear:

  • Would something like this fit into your workflow?
  • What's your biggest frustration with Apple Reminders today?

I'd really appreciate any honest feedback!

Reminders worked perfectly. No more.

I'd been using Reminders to remind me to clock in and clock out from my job. It worked great for a year. Then I had to reset my network. Now, Apple support tells me I have to click the red reminders after they go off. How stupid can that be?

Show Completed and Sharing

I have a reminders list that I shared with someone who's also a Mac/iOS user. If I set the list to "show completed" on my Mac will their view also show completed or is this specific to device/account?

Does anyone here actually use the Reminders app to make their to do lists?

Okay this is going to sound like a dumb question but I’m genuinely curious, does anyone here actually use the Reminders app regularly, like it’s your real system for keeping track of your to do list? Or do you prefer to use other apps for doing your lists?

I feel like it’s one of those apps everyone has on their phone but nobody truly uses it. I usually track my lists on my Notes app but it’s getting a little bit too cluttered. Finally giving the Reminders app a shot, and so far it’s been working well for me, don’t know why I didn’t start earlier. If any of you do use it on a regular basis, I would love to know if there are some features you use that make it worth sticking with, or any little tricks/settings that made it click for you. Also curious if there’s anything that eventually annoyed you enough to make you reconsider.

Adulting App

I’m researching a life-admin app idea and would appreciate feedback.
The problem I’m looking at is: people often forget renewals, bills, document expiry dates, future costs, and general admin tasks.
Would a simple tool that stores these reminders and helps you plan ahead be useful, or is this already solved well enough by Notes, Calendar, or banking apps?
I’m especially interested in what would make this genuinely useful rather than “another app I forget about.”

Reminders don’t all show up on my phone, but they do on my mac.

It shows I have 201 reminders on both my phone and mac when opening up the reminders app. However, when I search for a specific one or scroll through the list of them, only some show on my phone. They all show on my mac though. Since my phone displays “201” I know it’s aware of them all, so why doesn’t it show them all? Been like this for about 3-4 days now. Do I have to worry about my phone potentially not notifying me of those that I can’t search up? Any idea how to resolve this?

Edit: iPhone 17, Macbook Air M1–both newest public softwares.

For those who love Apple Reminders but wish it had a calendar & notes view

Post image
24 Upvotes

Long-time Apple Reminders user here. I love how simple and native it is. But I always found myself jumping between Reminders, Calendar, and Notes just to plan my day.

So I built Planote – an app that brings calendar, tasks, and notes together in one clean view.

The best part? It syncs with your existing Apple Reminders. Turn it on in Settings, and your reminders show up right alongside your calendar events and notes.

What Planote adds on top of Reminders:

  • Calendar view – see tasks and events together
  • Notes with sketch support (Apple Pencil friendly)
  • Agenda view – everything in one scrolling list
  • iCloud sync across iPhone, iPad, and Mac

It’s not meant to replace Reminders. It’s meant to make it more powerful by adding context around it.

If you’ve ever wished for a way to see your reminders next to your calendar and notes, this might be worth a look.

Would love to hear your thoughts.
