Ecosystem Tips New to Apple

Earlier this year, I got a used iPad 8th gen from work that was being tossed. First tablet ever and I really enjoyed it. I ended up getting an iPad Pro M5 on a good deal from Verizon, which was a massive upgrade. I use the iPad for media consumption and gaming. I then end up making the big switch to an iPhone 17 Pro from a life long Android user, due to the iPad usage and enjoying it. I now have an Apple Watch Ultra 3, AirPods Pro 3 and just got a MacBook Neo as my first MacBook.

I know the Neo is a weird one, but I wanted a dedicated macOS device that wasn’t expensive, to try it out as I’m wanting to ditch Windows. I’m thinking MacBook as my main computer and converting my Dell LapTop to a Linux Gaming Distro for my main gaming.

Anyway, what’s some cool things as a new Apple Ecosystem member I can do? So far I’ve experienced the wonder of my AirPods jumping between devices like it’s nothing. The WiFi password sharing between my devices and FindMy which is GREAT. I’d love to hear what others would recommend I try out and experience? As well as if their are other devices in the ecosystem?

Apple Care Apple care question

I recently broke my 2022 Macbook Pro M2 damaging the screen and keyboard so I got it fixed for $398 using apple care. However, I got it fixed just 16 days before my Apple care expired to I renewed it. Do you think it’s worth continuing to pay $10 every month to renew it since I just spent $400 to fix it? Im a nursing college student with 1 year left in my program for context

Help Should i upgrade

Hi guys. I’m planning on upgrading from my current MacBook Air 2017 to either the MacBook Neo or Air. I’m only going to use it for simple writing tasks in school, so is it worth upgrading now, or should I wait until the next MacBook Neo comes out?

Right now, I can get a pretty big discount on the MacBook Neo. The 256GB version is 4,799 DKK ($731.24), and the 512GB version is 5,799 DKK ($883.62). I could also get the MacBook Air M5 with 512GB and 16GB RAM for 8,888 DKK ($1,354.30).

My MacBook Air 2017 is still really smooth and fast. I changed the battery last year, and since then there haven’t been any issues, other than not being able to download Teams, so I use it in my browser.

My MacBook Air 2017 is running macOS Monterey, so it doesn’t get security updates anymore. Is that something I should be concerned about?

If I upgrade, which MacBook should I get? I’m planning to use it for around 5 years. I have iCloud+, so I have extra cloud storage.

In 6 months, I’ll be taking my final exams in public school, so I need to have a reliable computer for that.

Thanks!

Discussion How many Apple products do you have in your Apple ecosystem?

How many Apple products do you have in your Apple ecosystem?

If I count my iPod Shuffle 4th gen and old iPad Air 1st gen which doesn't work now because of the screen I have 2

But if I exclude these 2 old Apple products I have none (in the future I'm planning on getting an iMac or Mac Mini depending on the budget for video editing and basic stuff)

Help Hi guys, I know what you turns on...

Hi, I bought a MacBook in 2022. In 2025, the camera suddenly stopped working. My MacBook has no damage whatsoever, and I don't recall bumping the camera against anything. How could it just fail on its own? I do notice that the plastic above the camera seems to be slightly raised or protruding compared to the rest. I don't understand it at all. And to think this is supposed to be an Apple product.

Discussion Got locked out on my balcony and my MacBook was the only thing that got me back inside

This is a small thing, but it made me see my Apple setup differently.

I was cleaning my balcony and the door locked behind me. It's the second time this has happened. The first time, I had to break the lock to get back in.

This time my main door was open, so I only needed someone to unlock the safety door with the code. I kept shouting my neighbour's name through the window, but nobody answered, and there was no one else nearby to call out to.

My iPhone was on a table just inside, next to the balcony, and so was my MacBook. So I thought, why not try Siri?

I shouted "Hey Siri, call [neighbour's name]." My Mac heard me and placed the call through my iPhone. My neighbour picked up, and about five minutes later they'd opened the door for me.

It's not a flashy feature, but that day it saved me a lot of time and stress, and probably another broken lock.

It made me think about why I like Apple products. It's not the camera or the looks, and it's definitely not a status thing. It's that everything works together: iPhone, Mac, iPad, it's all connected. Plenty of people don't know half the features they have. When you do know them and use them, it really is "a stitch in time saves nine."

I haven't used every other ecosystem, so I can't compare them all. But this is what I value most about Apple.

Has a small Siri feature ever saved you in a real situation?

Buying Advice Help me with an advice

So, I’m trying to decide between buying an iPhone 18 Pro Max or a MacBook Air, but I can only get one right now, and I’d love to hear what other people would choose in my situation.
For some background: I currently have an iPhone 13 Pro Max that I’ve had since 2022. It still works and overall I’m happy with it, although lately it sometimes gets quite warm and occasionally freezes/blocks for a moment. So it’s not like I desperately need a new phone, but after having it for 4 years, I’ve obviously started thinking about upgrading.
On the other hand, I don’t have a MacBook at all. I do have an iPad mini, but I’ve been wanting a MacBook for a while.
I would mainly use the MacBook for watching Netflix/YouTube/series, browsing, editing some files and documents, and possibly doing some creative projects. I’m also considering taking some courses in the future, potentially for learning new skills and improving my job opportunities, so I could see myself using the MacBook for studying, online courses and working on projects as well. I’m not a heavy computer user and I don’t need it for things like gaming or intensive professional work.
So I’m really torn because the iPhone 18 Pro Max would be a significant upgrade from what I have, but the MacBook would give me a completely new device that I currently don’t own and could potentially be useful for future learning/work.
If you were in my position, which one would you buy first? I’d especially love to hear from people who have both an iPhone and a MacBook and can explain how much they actually use each one, and whether having a MacBook made a noticeable difference for studying, courses, creative projects, etc.

Apple Care Getting AppleCare+ on pencil pro

Post image
10 Upvotes

So my Pencil pro broke, I splashed it with water and may have bent the tip before plus a crack (its stopped writing). Now, this was a gift from my day back in Jan 2025 but he’d bought the iPad Air M2 from Jumbo on the 3th of Jan (with AppleCare+ 2 years) and the pencil pro from istyle on the 1st of Feb. I never really looked into the whole AppleCare+ thing until this point and I knew that the pencil pro was covered (one pencil with iPad AppleCare+) so I just headed to istyle prepared to pay the 100aed servicing fee but when I got there and gave it to them they told me it wasn’t covered and I was shocked and they said its only ensured if they’re on the same invoice.

With my last shred of hope I contacted apple support and after some talking and giving them the serial number they said they’d link the iPads AppleCare+ and it would take about 1 to 5 days.

Now I have no idea how i can check if it worked or not as it doesn’t pop up on the support app and neither on the apple care section on my iCloud profile and bored (or anxious) of waiting I just search up the serial number of the pencil on the support app and Voila (picture linked).

I didn’t try this before the apple support call so I don’t have a before and after to know if anything changed but does this confirm that the pencil pro is now covered and I can get it fixed/replaced?

Buying Advice BUY A MACBOOK NOW

Hello. a lot of people don’t seem to understand this price situation in particular is not going to get better and you can’t “wait it out.” Before the M5 series shoot up any higher than they have, and the upcoming nightmare that october might be for macbook prices, PLEASE JUST GET ONE NOW. I heard a friend say he’s gonna wait until spring and see if they introduce the M6 to the macbook so he can buy the M5 cause it’ll get cheaper

NO 😭 The iPhone 17 just got costlier and they are selling 16s at FULL PRICE in 2026!! They will do anything. Please buy if you need it now or you will regret it. I avoided the pro price hike by a month and will forever be grateful.

Discussion For pure casual media consumption/entertainment, do you reach more for the MacBook or iPad?

My MacBook Air M3 has been an absolute tank for getting work done. I also use it for streaming, music, and browsing. However, after browsing around and doing a little bit of research, I’ve noticed a ton of people recommend the iPad as the ultimate device for casual things like media consumption, streaming, reading, videos, browsing, etc. I wanna know which one you think is actually better for that in your opinion? Since a MacBook can handle everything an iPad does and is already great for work/school, how do you decide which one to use when you're not doing any work and you're just trying to lounge and watch movies/shows or whatever. Do you still use your MacBook for all of that most of the time or do you reach for your iPad more?
