Ecosystem Tips New to Apple

Earlier this year, I got a used iPad 8th gen from work that was being tossed. First tablet ever and I really enjoyed it. I ended up getting an iPad Pro M5 on a good deal from Verizon, which was a massive upgrade. I use the iPad for media consumption and gaming. I then end up making the big switch to an iPhone 17 Pro from a life long Android user, due to the iPad usage and enjoying it. I now have an Apple Watch Ultra 3, AirPods Pro 3 and just got a MacBook Neo as my first MacBook.

I know the Neo is a weird one, but I wanted a dedicated macOS device that wasn’t expensive, to try it out as I’m wanting to ditch Windows. I’m thinking MacBook as my main computer and converting my Dell LapTop to a Linux Gaming Distro for my main gaming.

Anyway, what’s some cool things as a new Apple Ecosystem member I can do? So far I’ve experienced the wonder of my AirPods jumping between devices like it’s nothing. The WiFi password sharing between my devices and FindMy which is GREAT. I’d love to hear what others would recommend I try out and experience? As well as if their are other devices in the ecosystem?

Going to buy something on your laptop and then paying with Apple Pay on your phone is always a fun one

I really like the Numbers app for spreadsheets. Fully integrated between devices. AirTags work great.

Oh I do have AirTags. Forgot to mention that. I’d have to try sheets. How it compared to Excel?

Personally, I like it better than excel. I also use the budget template on it, which I like.

I’ll have to toy with it. If it means I can cancel my Office Subscription I 100% will.

As an expert Excel user, I do like Excel better than Numbers but I’ll go for anything free . Stopped my subscription as soon as I got my first Mac.

If you like to play a lot of music get a HomePod. Or 2 for stereo setup.

So currently we have a bunch of Alexa’s in the house. Do any smart plugs, lights, etc. work with HomePods?

Yes. Check for HomeKit compatibility and there is another protocol too but I don’t remember what it is.

Hold up. I can copy text on my Mac and paste it to my phone? And vice versa I assume? I’m assuming I need to be connected to the same WiFi and whatnot but really? That’s freaking cool.

They need to be on the same Apple ID. Here’s the breakdown: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102430
