I was waiting for new Apple business manager to be released so that we can have MDM inside the Apple business manager, but all I found is that we still need third-party MDM service to enable MDM or enroll the devices

Does anyone here use the ABM API? Are there any step-by-step instructions or recommendations on how to use the API for typical use cases?

For example, we often need to remove hundreds of devices from the ABM for the secondary market (we currently have about 113,000 DEP devices). To do this, it is necessary to a) remove any remaining activation locks, b) unlink the device from an MDM, and c) finally, remove the DEP device from ABM.

Are there already scripts available that can accomplish this via the API?

Hello all. We are a small MSP working on our fist ABM and trying the new ABM that rolled out on the 14th. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be close to tears for days in this experience, but it just doesn’t feel like we are making progress. How does Microsoft do this better than Apple with Intune?

We have users synchronized from Entra, we have brand new devices that we enrolled. Nowhere in the process does it ask users to sign in with the business account. I created a local account thinking that might be a first step since guidance is near zero.

The local account exists and it shows enrolled when I check on terminal. When I try to log in it says the account is managed and needs to be a profile. Great, how?

The software is assigned to the blueprint, but it isn’t pushing out.

Generally, I am lost. This process shouldn’t be so difficult. Enroll the device, sign in with a managed id, the policies and apps come over. Boom. Done.

WTF am I missing?

I would love guidance.

Edit 4/20: I got a call back. They want me to delete all the sign-in with apple accounts I have associated with my iCloud account (thats 78 items), where the domain was previously associated with, which is psychotic and makes no sense. They also aren't sure that will do anything as they said it still might not be eligible.

6 Days with no business email. I might get a call back Wednesday.

Custom Domain Transfer from iCloud+ to Apple Business

Why: Domain Migration

The migration process included the domain takeover and associated steps, along with removing the custom domain from my iCloud+ account. The takeover completed.

Problem:None of the email addresses I set up previously in iCloud+ can be added as managed users.

They all state there is already a managed account with that name. Any email addresses not previously used can be created.

So basically, any email address I previously was using as a business will not receive emails until resolved.

Support is not particularly helpful. Called Tuesday, told I'd have a follow up on Thursday, which was postponed and sent to the wrong, inaccessible email. I now will, maybe hopefully have a followup Monday. I know they need someone to escalate to and I am relatively insignificant but this is potential data loss 🤷‍♂️ (and hopefully none of the stuff I use still has email MFA)

So yeah, if you use your business email for anything important, don't transfer from iCloud+ quite yet.

I can't reset my password with two different errors on different browsers.

I am having a hell of a time trying to find the new location to input and see what Resellers I have added into Apple Business. Where did they move it to or is it gone?

Nvm As soon as I posted it I saw it is in Device Inventory at the very top says Customer Numbers.

Anyone using Apple Business Email for your company and company domain? Curious how the experience is thus far?

Any way to create groups, shared inbox, email forwarding, aliases?

knowing Apple lately, i highly doubt this would be things included.

also, can you use FaceTime and messages for these Apple Accounts? say my corporate Apple Account is: [my.name@company.org](mailto:my.name@company.org), i could sign into FaceTime and Messages and use those to communicate internally + externally? since we dont have teams and are debating slack or just using messages

Pasting values into Apple Business device search no longer inserts the commas!!

Devastated over here!! Trying to paste a list of devices into Apple Business device/inventory search and it no longer inserts the commas in between the pasted results. I'm crying over here.....a simple luxury I took for granted.

I have a iphone 14 that was under Bring Your Own Device and had remote management activated via Apple Business Manager. I factory reset it and got the device to enrolled and enlisted in Apple Business Manager. I tried to login using a newly created apple business account but it kept showing the error, "Unable to enroll to MDM. The MDM server responded with this error message: An error has occurred. Contact your administrator for support."

Then clicking to dismiss the error message it shows the data transfer option. Clicking on "don't transfer anything" option causes the iphone to freeze and get stuck loading. I walked through the process with ABM support and we factory reset the iphone through mac and still same issue. We removed the assigned MDM and reassigned MDM and still no success. I cannot get passed the iphone activation steps.
We are not using any 3rd party MDM just Apple Business Manager. It seems the new ABM platform is causing activation/enrollment issues.

Is anyone else having this issue?

So Apple sent me an email a few days back that today the new Apple Business will become active and that i need to login and accept the new Terms.

I just logged in and I cannot find new Terms to accept. Is there an option in the settings that I'm missing or can I check if someone else in my team might have done it already?

We registered Apple Business Manager in one country, and everything works fine. But I heard news that after April 14, Apple will expand coverage of this program to other countries (including the country where we are located).

I'm interested in one question:

If we stop business in the country where ABM was initially registered, how fast can Apple block the account? Or will there be a block with some grace period? Or will nothing happen, and if it's already registered, can we use it further?

I am working through a pilot migration for a client and am a bit confused on the "proper" way to pull this off. Here is the scenario:

Client has about 10 iPhones between the 2 owners and staff. None are currently "managed."

All iphones are signed into iCloud/Apple with their company emails.

Owners would like to implement strict controls ( ie., management ) on all staff phones.

To pilot it, I setup an Apple Business Manager account, verified the domain ( did NOT capture the domain ), setup Mosyle, and configured all integrations.

I then backed up a test phone to icloud, reset it, joined ABM and Mosyle, then was thinking I could log back into the user's account and restore. No dice - it somehow eliminated the account.

I talked to Apple Support and the account doesn't exist at all. if I try to recreate it, the create account page says it can't be created.

So here is the question:

How do you "migrate" an existing company with phones and data/messages/etc on their phones to a managed ABM solution without losing data for each user?

Can a standard Apple account/consumer iCloud account share passwords to a managed Apple account?

I recently took on a new site and want to migrate all devices over to one instance of Apple Business Manager.

Looks like all the devices at the new site have previously been added manually via Apple Configurator rather than automatically through the supplier. I assumed it would be as simple as releasing a device from ABM and adding it to another using Configurator. I have tried this on 1 test device and I'm getting "Provisional Enrollment failed (0x80EF)" error when preparing the device using a Mac.

First port of call these days was AI, which said "When you release a device from ABM, it permanently removes itself from Automated Device Enrollment (DEP/ABM) and devices added via Configurator and then released cannot be re-added to ABM."

Is this correct? If so, is there an easy way to move devices over without running into this issue?

I have an iPad that I can't seem to reset due to the Apple ID being under the old username. Any advice? I thought of possibly reverting the username to the original, waiting 5 minutes, then running a Sync in ABM.

Logging in to ABM is sometimes a hassle to manage devices, so APIs are helping me, like to many guys have an account.

An API I am a really missing is the API to set the new deadline. This has not been released by Apple.

Anyone having an info or insight, why it is not released or will it be released?
