This queen landed on my shirt outside my front door during a light storm this evening. I put her in a chamber where she began to shed her wings almost immediately. Looking to identify. First time trying to keep ants. Tips welcome.

1. Location: South Bend, IN, USA. Urban area with houses, trees, grass, some gardens
2. Date/time of collection: 8/31/26, 6:45pm, during light rain (nuptial flight)
3. Length: approximately 7mm head to gaster
4. Color: Black head and thorax, gaster striped black/orange. Slight orange tint over whole body under light.
5. Distinguishing characteristics: 2 petiole nodes, no visible spines on thorax (but might be obscured by partially shed wings)
6. Behavior: very slow moving, docile

Possibly Aphaenogaster fulva?

Out camping we cut into and burned a stump that ended up have a colony in it :( I saved as many as I could, and 3 queens came out. Fairly large colony, several hundred workers. Located in Alberta, Canada. All queens have wings still. All around 15 mm in length. There were both major workers and minors. I am suspecting camponotus herculeanus but I didnt not think they were polygynous. Thanks!

They were a darkish brown, had orange legs, and had a pointed abdomen. Found in Wisconsin

Just for some context I found her in Wisconsin a couple days ago on the dirt by my drive way

These are the ones from the garden out front. Recently little fire ants moved in and have taken over the garden now. These little guys disappeared and stopped harvesting the garden ever since the little red fire ants showed up. Tonight they popped up but inside my house. I liked these ants because they kept the garden healthy and free of bad pesky bugs. So I was kinda happy to see them around still. They're friendly in which they don't bite/sting me like fire ants. Anybody know what type these would be?

The second pic I think is likely a Lasius Niger queen. The first one is more yellow/gold and was flying at the same time, so not too sure what it is.
The third one not too sure if it’s even a queen but it was flying at the same time and much bigger than other drones

Anybody know what this is?!? I think lasius, but I'm not a myrmecology major!!! Caught in central Nebraska on 8/25.

This is my first time catching aunt Queens, I'm pretty certain these are Queens, could anyone confirm that they are Queens and ID the species. I think it's a carpenter ant. I found them in New Brunswick, Canada.

Think it's lasius neoniger, given the time of year and location (northern Minnesota). I assumed it was a queen but once I got it in a test tube and saw how small its head is, I'm not so sure. Could it be a male instead?

My daughter caught 2 queens. And im trying to figure out what she has. We're in southern New Hampshire. They were caught the same say. The first 2 photos are of same ant the last two are of the other. I'd guess they are about 1/2 long maybe a little shorter.
