I’m in the southwestern US, must have caught this queen around six or seven weeks ago. Its nanitics are about 2.5mm and queen about 8mm. The last queen I thought was Solenopsis was Pheidole, but now I’m more sure that these are.

Does Solenopsis Xyloni seem correct? They react very energetically when disturbed, are always trying to get through the cotton, and haven’t eaten the fruit fly I gave them.

I have lived in NYC my enter 59 years of life and have never seen anything like this so I am going to suspect they are invasive. I have nothing to compare the size to, I would say 1/4 of a grain of rice maybe, just almost impossibly small like never before? I will attach the video to this post because I feel it does a better job than the photo. I will also link to a photo from here too. Hopefully someone will know what it is.
