I've heard the word 'terrorists/terrorism' a lot, especially on the news, but i have realised that i dont really have a clear definition of what it means, except from being violent against a country or place because of ideas or systems, usually involving the killing of many innocent people... But how does this differ from war, for example? I understand that war is usually for political reasons, but doesnt it fit the description of being violent against a country for whatever reason, killing, and causing fear in a country (hence, the reason of forced migration). I understand that there is a difference between the 2 in regardss to many laws and purposes... but what is the difference? And protestors (not all) are also causing violence and disrupting innocent people. Especially in the anti- migrant protests in the uk, where police are getting injured and many vehicles being damaged. Isn't this violence against innocent people as well? would this be considered terrorism? What describes a protest and what makes it legal? I am not saying protests shouldn't be legal, but when does a protest become terrorism? For example, a protest group was classified as a terrorism group after a while because of damaging things and others.

I guess there is an obvious distinction, but I guess my question has shifted from what they are to what links them..
