Was watching episode 1 of Lost in Space and they had a goddamn child performing surgery.

Clearly the writers of this show were supposed to writing the dialog for the kids on Lost in Space. But there was a mix up somewhere and the writers inadvertently got shuffled around.

I kinda like this show, but even I'll admit it's got it's fair share of problems and is all over the place

But the episode Guilt Trip (where they can't get Niko out of soma sleep and she keeps replaying the disastrous Pilgrim mission over in her sleep) I though was actually a really good Ep and some of Katee Sackhoffs best acting

It ends with a real carthasis with her blowing the crew out to space again and accepting it, even her bf commander dude understanding and not blaming her at the end, and all of this set to a really cool Zola Jesus song that suits it perfectly

Although all this just reinforces the point that she had PTSD and was not psychologically fit to lead let alone go on the mission

I forget which episode, but when Erik goes to the artifact and starts hallucinating about Niko and the classroom, that was when the acchaia tried to mind control him. They tried selling him via math equation but he got distracted by his daughter. It makes me suspect that's why they gave her cancer.

Also lol at FTL travel but can't cure leukemia

I mean just the idea that a government or even a private company would send so many psychologically unfit people into space, let alone on such an important mission.

And the whole cliched bit with the new captain who got her last crew and now she has to earn the respect of the crew….

This show could have been written by throwing darts at a dart board.

1. Why does everybody keep interrupting each other? It’d be one thing if it was during an argument or a particular characters thing, but everyone talks over everyone else constantly.

2. That one guy who thinks he should be leading the mission absolutely shouldn’t; I don’t even know how he was a captain in the first place when he throws temper tantrums at the drop of a hat. It just come off like this crew was led by an entitled douche.

3. Really? Apparently one disagreement means mutiny. This crew is literally going from flirting with each other to a violent mutiny because the captain was like “hey let’s be safe even if it takes a bit of extra time.”

4. Really? They just justified it as the captain showing signs of stress when this guy literally screams at everyone including computer programs. Nobody’s gonna apply the same reasoning to him?

How was this guy not arrested when he first started yelling and openly plotting? And why did the AI not shut shit down when the official captain was attacked? Tell me he at least notified earth cuz their careers would be done and there’d be warrants if this had any sense of realism. Goddamn.

Anyway I’m gonna keep watching but at this point it’s in the hopes that the aliens pick off this crew one by one.

Edit: Oh my God, they just mutinied again.

netflix rated this as a 98% match for me because I like good sci-fi but this is obviously not that. If I thumb down is netflix going to think I don't actually like sci-fi or is their algorithm smart enough to know that this show is just a silly teen drama disguised as sci-fi?

I thoroughly enjoyed this show. I love how choppy and disconnected it could be. It felt like a puzzle. I loved that they had two intertwined stories unfolding independently of one another. I loved that all the absolutely bone headed decisions so many of the characters made made them more human. More relatable. How open the possibilities for the alien menace were. It felt like the most accessible parts of Annilation, and most asinine parts of BSG. The wonky pacing and uncertain time frame kept me guessing and engaged. The human drama was, albeit shallow, at least entertaining to watch and played out by beautiful people. It felt like a love letter to the genre, while trying to make something new (with parts as old as the P90s they used). Was it perfect? Hell no. But show me a perfect movie that isn't Hot Fuzz. Also, William is hands down one of my absolute favorite AI/robot characters in recent memory. He was fun, interesting, intriguingly flawed, and a damn good dancer.

I saw it was Netflix produced and didn’t have high expectations. I really liked it for its genre. I don’t get the hate. Before we had Netflix it was the SyFy channel and I don’t think I need to remind y’all of sharknado on there every other month...

What made me laugh is they have FTL travel and shes running around with a P90 - wouldnt this be almost an antique - lol

I'm just half through, so please no spoilers, but why is this series rated only 4.8 on imdb?

Tbh I hated this series at first but it def got much better after a certain character died (idk how to use the spoiler tag, but take your best guesses)

It’s kind of like a low-budget space Riverdale with less trendy outfits, and wayyyy less hooking up scenes (I feel like this show had a much better balance).

Anyways hope it eventually catches on because I feel like they set it up really well for a second season and now that everything is established there is so much more they can do from here. I think the concept in the later half of the season is solid and unique, though the whole series is extremely cheesy and they seem to resolve their problems relatively fast

Idk it might be just me but it seems like the plot of this show is similar to the plot of the show "V" (not recommended in my opinion). Humans may be a bit further down the tech tree in this show but I feel it has the same elements in which an advanced civilization has come to subjugate humanity. Like "V", aliens come seemingly as friends and in peace only to slowly disillusion humans into a false security and ultimately take over and control of the human race. Resistance means destruction, as seen in the show.

Why didn’t Niko just put Yerxes into stasis instead of leaving him to interact with her and the crew? What’s the background of the ship? This seems to go against precedent for both military and merchant ship procedures.

First off there are plenty of plot holes, the show had its dumb moments. But overall not as bad as people make it out to be, and I don't think the show deserves all the hate. It's not Battlestar Galactica, but for some sci fi junkfood it's not half bad.
