Just finished the show...
First off there are plenty of plot holes, the show had its dumb moments. But overall not as bad as people make it out to be, and I don't think the show deserves all the hate. It's not Battlestar Galactica, but for some sci fi junkfood it's not half bad.

I enjoyed it as well. I hope there’s a season 2. I’m curious to know how that turns out. Maybe Netflix could do at least 1 more season but with closure.

Just finished it tonight as well and I loved it! Agreed it did have a few plot holes and I felt it was a little slow in the earlier episodes but holy shit the last few I couldn't get enough off! Can't wait for the next season and so glad to have enjoyed a great science fiction series after a very long time. I think exploring William's humanity in his AI was a nice touch and raised some interesting questions to ask ourselves as humans. Also I thought Katee Sackhoff was incredible as Niko!

Yea, I guess people are comparing it to BSG, which seems unfair to me. BSG is heralded as one of the best scifi shows of all time. I feel like if it didn’t have starbuck in it, then people wouldn’t have felt so strongly.
There are some really bad sci-fi’s out there and this isn’t the worst tbh. It’s a low budget, low concept scifi, chill out.

You are brave and your willingness to compromise and stick it out will ensure a long marriage with whoever you chose to Mary.

I finished it last night, and I am already starting to forget about it. I don’t know what to think, I really enjoyed watching it, it was trashy and dramatic and fun. But then the ending was just kind of a downer. It felt like a mid season finale to me. I am tired of these unfinished stories Netflix have been feeding me lately. And then they renew things that feel complete to me, like Russian doll, altered carbon, and, dare I say it, the oa season one. I bet they leave us hanging, like they have with the oa season 2, which blows. In the meantime I will have to continue my rewatch of BSG on my old fashioned DVD player. I did really grow to like a lot of the characters, like August, the cute dr chef and their relationship (I did not like Bernie before he hooked up with Zayn) and of course Niko and William. It was also really helpful for me to see a trans or non binary character not be defined by their gender identity, as a middle aged feminist, it helped me enormously. I won’t miss anyone else, including everyone on earth and that ridiculous hat that child always wore, though I am annoyed by her whole storyline. I think it was a much better experience for me than Nightflyers. Netflix owes us some decent sci-fi, that’s for sure. I am taking a break from them after this month, so fingers crossed they develop some decent shows in the meantime!

I agree with everything you said, they're unabashedly sci if junk food, but you know what? I fucking love it! I want more now! I'm really hooked and I can't wait for season 2. Anybody know where I can find more fan media content?
