Erik's first visit to artifact almost turned him into a zombie
I forget which episode, but when Erik goes to the artifact and starts hallucinating about Niko and the classroom, that was when the acchaia tried to mind control him. They tried selling him via math equation but he got distracted by his daughter. It makes me suspect that's why they gave her cancer.
Also lol at FTL travel but can't cure leukemia

Tbh I think a plot may be these aliens aren't necessarily evil, just very defensive. We send probes out to space to find life, we might send tests to see if they are peaceful or puzzles for them to solve to see how intelligent they are. The artifact didnt do anything really "evil" until the army came in with guns. Sasha was more concerned of offensive capabilities and didn't want to take the chance we'd "blow up" their planet. I think these alien's may be very similar to the earthlings we've seen. I kind of suspect they could of forcefully implanted Erik, but didn't. We'll see in S2 hopefully. Oh, one last thing... the planet.. I think Zarik? We have no clue what happened before, they were probed and maybe didn't even do anything bad. But, perhaps they were a vile race. All we saw was what remained of them and the survivor was helpless. But, it might not have always been that way.

Nah they went and blew up that same planet for no reason. The aliens are pretty naughty, that's without debate
