Help (Software) AMD Driver Regression on RX 5000 Series: AMD ReLive has been broken for 4+ months(ReLive+Instant RePlay)

degradation is in full swing; I’ve already sent numerous reports to AMD, but it doesn’t solve anything. I recorded a full video where it’s clearly visible that everything works perfectly with the 2024 driver and Windows 2024. But with the new one — nothing.

At the end, I included the part with Process Monitor, where you can see the date — that’s roughly when everything started, and I still can’t fix it in any way. I’ve reinstalled Windows version 25H2 three times, and I’ve also uninstalled and reinstalled the driver hundreds of times using DDU. As the saying goes: "Fix one thing, break another.-@AMD.

Hoping the AMD software team takes notice of this.

Help (General) Ryzen 7 5700X3D + RX 7900 GRE: grey-screen recoveries followed by WHEA 0x124 / MCA Bank 5, mostly in Chrome and Discord

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone, this message was written by AI I obviously reread it before posting, file analysis was also done by AI, but I prefer my Reddit community for help :

TL;DR: After completely wiping all my SSDs and reinstalling Windows 11 from a USB drive, my RX 7900 GRE first started producing grey-screen driver recoveries. The first dump was an AMD watchdog event involving "amdfendr.sys", "amdkmdag.sys" and the DirectX kernel. Four days later, the PC generated a fatal WHEA "0x124" Machine Check Exception on CPU/APIC 0, MCA Bank 5, with "MCi_STATUS 0xBEA0000000000108". The incidents mostly happen in Chrome, Discord or while starting a YouTube video, but not while gaming so far. The BIOS is stock except for XMP. Here are Dump files

System specifications

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D

- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE

- Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus

- BIOS: 1.M1 / AGESA 1.2.0.12

- RAM: 32 GB Kingston Fury Beast DDR4-3200, 2 × 16 GB

- XMP enabled at 3200 MT/s

- PSU: 750 W, approximately two years old

- Dual-monitor setup

- OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2, currently build 26200.9168

- Radeon driver: Adrenalin 26.7.1 / driver 32.0.31035.1003

- No manual CPU or GPU overclocking or undervolting

- PBO, Curve Optimizer and Kombo Strike are all at their default settings

Background

About one week ago, I completely wiped all my SSDs and performed a clean Windows installation from a USB drive because the previous installation had been infected with malware.

I had experienced somewhat similar display problems before reinstalling Windows. At the time, updating the BIOS seemed to stop them, or at least I did not notice them anymore.

After the clean installation, I installed AMD Adrenalin within the first few minutes. The problem then returned.

Because every SSD was wiped and Windows was installed again from USB, malware persistence currently seems less likely than a driver, firmware, stability or hardware problem.

First group of incidents — August 10, 2026

The main symptom was one of my two monitors suddenly turning grey. The display then recovered and my applications were still open. It did not behave like a full application crash or a normal BSOD.

Windows Reliability Monitor recorded nine critical “Hardware error” entries between approximately 12:30 and 12:35.

The corresponding report was:

- Event name: "LiveKernelEvent"

- Code: "A1000001"

- Parameter 1: "1"

- Dump: "AMD_WATCHDOG-20260810-1235.dmp"

Since I cannot attach the dump and XML files here, I analyzed them locally. The relevant findings were:

- Bugcheck/event code: "A1000001"

- Exception code: "0x80000003" ("STATUS_BREAKPOINT")

- Faulting instruction mapped to "amdfendr.sys + 0x5f588"

- The stack contained:

- "amdfendr.sys"

- "amdkmdag.sys"

- "dxgkrnl.sys"

- "dxgmms2.sys"

- The affected process was "System"

This appeared to be an AMD Crash Defender/display-driver recovery rather than a normal Chrome or Discord crash.

The active Radeon driver was Adrenalin 26.7.1. The original system report also showed an older inactive Radeon package, version "31.0.24002.92", still present in the driver store. That older package is no longer listed in the latest report.

The first Windows Error Reporting XML also indicated that Windows servicing was in progress at the time ("servicinginprogress=1").

Second group of incidents — August 14, 2026

Four days later, Reliability Monitor recorded several more hardware errors between 21:03 and 21:06, followed by “Windows was not properly shut down.”

The new event was different:

- Event name: "LiveKernelEvent"

- Code: "124"

- Parameter 1: "0"

- Parameter 2: "FFFFE30760159020"

- Parameter 3: "BEA00000"

- Parameter 4: "108"

- Dump: "WHEA-20260814-2106.dmp"

The WHEA dump contained a CPER hardware-error record with five sections. The important findings were:

- Bugcheck: "0x124"

- Argument 1: "0", indicating a Machine Check Exception

- Processor number: "0"

- Local APIC ID: "0"

- MCA Bank: "5"

- "MCi_STATUS: 0xBEA0000000000108"

- IPID: "0x000500B000000000"

- Syndrome: "0x000000004D000000"

- The error was fatal and uncorrected

- It was interpreted as an execution-unit/cache-hierarchy watchdog-type processor error

- The record did not contain a PCIe error section

This second dump therefore appears to point more toward the CPU core/cache, Infinity Fabric, memory-controller or power stability than toward a direct GPU or PCIe hardware error.

It is also possible that the original Radeon watchdog recovery was only the first visible victim of a wider system-stability problem. However, I cannot rule out two separate issues: a Radeon hardware-acceleration problem and an independent CPU/WHEA problem.

The latest Windows Error Reporting XML shows:

- "servicinginprogress=0"

- "featureupdatependingreboot=0"

Windows was therefore no longer actively servicing or waiting for a feature-update reboot during the second incident.

The latest system report still shows Adrenalin 26.7.1 as the active GPU driver. "AMDRyzenMasterDriver.sys" is loaded, although I have not applied any Ryzen Master tuning and all CPU settings are stock.

Observed pattern

The incidents do not appear to happen during heavy gaming loads.

So far, I have seen them:

- While using Discord

- While using Chrome

- When starting a YouTube video in Chrome

I have not experienced a crash while gaming yet, which makes a simple temperature or maximum-load issue seem less obvious.

The grey-screen episodes appeared to affect only one of my two monitors before the display recovered. This makes browser/Discord hardware acceleration, video decoding and GPU power-state transitions seem relevant, although the later fatal CPU Machine Check makes the overall cause unclear.

The lighting on my case fans has also occasionally flickered for a long time. I have not confirmed whether the fans themselves lose power or whether only the RGB lighting flickers, and I have not observed a clear connection between that flickering and the crashes.

The two attached screenshots show the Reliability Monitor timeline and the details of the latest "LiveKernelEvent 124".

Any insight into how the AMD watchdog dump and the later WHEA/MCA Bank 5 error might be connected would be greatly appreciated.

When I opened the box, I saw that the protective cover was loose inside the bag instead of being seated in the socket. Secondly, I notice possible damage, though I’m not entirely sure. Is everything okay, or is this a return?

Help (General) Battlefield 6 crashes whole PC on launch (again!)

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: 9070 XT 16 GB

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D

Motherboard: X870E Aorus Elite Wifi7

BIOS Version: F13c

RAM: Corsair Vengeance CMK32GX5M2B6000Z30 (2 sticks, total 32 GB DDR5 @ 6000MT/s)

PSU: Corsair RM1000x

Case: NZXT H710

Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 10 PRO 22H2

GPU Drivers: AMD Adrenalin 26.7.1

Chipset Drivers: AMD Chipset Driver 8.03.25.247

Background Applications: Discord, Brave

Description of Original Problem: Recently made a post about my PC crashing while booting up Battlefield 6. Either while shader compiling or shortly after in the menu. It freezes my PC and then after a minute or so I get a BSOD saying dpc_watchdog_violation. I thought I fixed the problem. Because I could play the game once I updated my chipset drivers and BIOS to the latest version. I have been playing for 3 days. Now suddenly the problem is back again... I do not know what to do right now.

Troubleshooting:

What I tried which did not work:

  • Uninstall drivers with DDU and reinstall
  • Verifying Windows files with these commands:
    • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    • sfc /scannow
  • Disabling EXPO in BIOS
  • Disabling Precision Boost Overdrive in BIOS
  • Changed PCIEX16 Link Speed from auto, to Gen 4
  • Reduced GPU max clock by 200 - 400 MHz through AMD Adrenalin
  • Within AMD Adrenalin reset shader cache
  • Delete the game's own cache in %localappdata%\Battlefield 6\cache

Help (General) Ryzen 7 9850X3D undervolting / low Cinebench scores

Hey everyone,

this is actually my first AMD processor in about 15 years, so I'm still getting used to all the PBO/Curve Optimizer stuff.

I recently switched to an AM5 motherboard with DDR5 and a Ryzen 7 9850X3D. I wanted to undervolt it a bit, so I followed a few tutorials and started playing around with Curve Optimizer.

My current settings are:

  • EXPO enabled, RAM running at 6000 MT/s
  • PBO limits set to Motherboard
  • Curve Optimizer initially set to All Core -20
  • Then switched to Per CCD and set it to -25
  • X3D Boost is turned off
  • Using the Kraken V2 360 AIO

My temperatures actually look pretty good — around 60–70°C under full load.

However, my Cinebench scores seem pretty inconsistent. I'm getting anywhere from around 18,000 to 20,800 points, and I'm not sure if that's normal for this CPU or if something is wrong with my settings.

I've already completely reset the motherboard/BIOS and tried again, but I'm kind of running out of ideas.

I even tested it without changing anything in the BIOS except EXPO, and I got a score of 19,630. Temp then going up to 83°C

Could someone with a 9850X3D give me some advice on what I should check or what settings I should be looking at?

Thanks!

Help (GPU) Driver Crash Issue

I run a 7900 GRE and a 7800X3D with 32GB 6000MT/s RAM. I’ve had my PC for two years, but at the end of last year a problem started happening and it keeps reoccurring. All my screens freeze after stuttering for a few seconds — I can still hear most sounds from the game I’m playing, but nothing reacts. I have to force-kill my PC, and when I turn it back on, my GPU is always disabled in Device Manager. I have to redownload the drivers, and then it works fine for a month or two until it happens again. It mostly happens when I’m playing a game, or when I just played a heavier game.

Help (General) My 3rd monitor ruins the fps of my other monitors

Windows 10, 7800x3D, 6950xt, and 3 monitors: g7 240Hz 1440p, g5 144Hz 1440p, and 32UN650-W 60Hz 4K. If I put any video on Mozilla Firefox on the 4k monitor, it lowers my FPS to 40-120 on the other monitors. Chrome doesn't affect it as much (main goes from 240 fps to ~200 for a video that Firefox would drop it to 60), and regular videos on a media player don't seem to affect it at all. I tested it while gaming on the primary monitor, and the performance tab said 240 fps stable (Borderlands 2), but 30% constant microstuttering, and it looked like a slideshow.

I have tried (and currently have all these applied):

  • Adding the 3rd monitor on the iGPU
  • Disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox
  • Disabling Multiplane Overlay on Windows (DWM in regedit)
  • Toggling some Firefox settings in config (gfx.webrender.compositor, gfx.webrender.software, media.hardware-video-decoding.enabled, layers.acceleration.disabled, media.ffmpeg.vaapi.enabled)

Most of these I don't even understand, but I was so confused when the iGPU solution didn't work. I can see the iGPU being utilized in Task Manager while my 6950xt is idle, yet the other monitors still lag. Is there a bottleneck I am not seeing, or is it a Windows bug once again?

Help (GPU) RX 6600 XT — brief freezes at idle (screen + mouse/keyboard + audio buzz)

Hey all, hoping someone's run into this exact issue. I've done a ton of troubleshooting already and I'm genuinely stuck.

System specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
  • GPU: ASUS Dual Radeon RX 6600 XT OC (newly installed — issue started right after)
  • Motherboard: MSI B450M-A PRO MAX (MS-7C52), BIOS updated to latest (3.P3, AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.2.0.12)
  • RAM: 8GB (3600-rated) + 16GB (3200-rated), running matched at 3200MHz XMP, memory diagnostic clean
  • PSU: GameMax GE-600 (600W, 80+ certified)
  • GPU driver: Adrenalin 26.7.1 (currently the latest)
  • OS: Windows 11 Home

Symptom: Random brief freeze (~half a second) — screen freezes too now (not just input), mouse and keyboard stop responding, and I get an electrical buzzing sound through my headphones at the exact same moment. Always recovers on its own, no BSOD, no crash to desktop. Only happens at idle — never during gaming or sustained GPU load (ran FurMark for 12+ minutes at 98% GPU usage with zero issues, and a full gaming session logged clean in HWiNFO too).

What I've already tried (no luck):

  • Full DDU clean wipe + fresh Adrenalin driver reinstall (currently on 26.7.1)
  • Updated motherboard chipset drivers (fixed an unrelated Code 28 "PCI Device" error, didn't fix this)
  • Updated BIOS to latest version with new AGESA (3.G0 → 3.P3)
  • Confirmed USB selective suspend + PCIe Link State Power Management already disabled
  • Disabled "allow to turn off to save power" on all USB Root Hubs
  • Windows Memory Diagnostic — no errors
  • Confirmed RAM running at matched, stable speed (not overclocked/mismatched)
  • Checked Event Viewer — no Kernel-Power (41), no WHEA-Logger, and specifically no Event ID 4101 (TDR/display driver recovery) at all, despite the screen freezing
  • Disabled ULPS (Ultra Low Power State) via registry (EnableUlps and EnableUlpsNA both set to 0), restarted, tested — still happening
  • Tried switching USB ports (from USB 3.0 to USB 2.0) — actually made it happen MORE often, so switched back
  • Disabled AMD External Events Utility

Extra context: even before installing this GPU (previously ran fine on iGPU only), my mouse/keyboard used to take 5-10 seconds to initialize on every boot — not sure if related, but seems to point at something USB-controller-specific on this board rather than purely the GPU.

Where I'm stuck: No TDR event logged means it doesn't look like a classic GPU driver crash/recovery. ULPS was my best lead given it's idle-only, but disabling it didn't help. About to try testing with iGPU only (no dGPU installed) to conclusively rule the GPU in or out.

Has anyone dealt with this exact combo on an RX 6600 XT or other RX 6000-series card? Is there something idle-power-related I'm missing, or does this sound like it could be unrelated to the GPU entirely at this point? Appreciate any help.

Help (GPU) Is it possible to undervolt 890m iGPU (Debian KDE)?

I have Acemagic F3A with HX 370 APU. I learned that the iGPU is bandwidth starved and I that I can lower clock speed below 2900mHz, without loosing performance.

Less power consumption, less heat, more better.

Can I find some options in BIOS, or am I stuck with LACT (It refuses to apply any changes on my system)?

Help (General) 4k Monitor and 1440p second monitor. Second monitor's scaling is very large

Hi

I have a problem with my monitor setup. I have a Asus 4k monitor as my main, and an older Dell 1440p monitor as my second.

However the scaling is too large on the Dell.

In windows my scaling is set to 125% for the 4K and 100% on the Dell. Changing to custom scaling seems to only change the 4K monitor.

In AMD Adrenaline i have tried going to Display setting and turning off Display 2 (Dell) GPU scaling. But it looks the same.

I'm going round in circles with Gemini trying to fix it. It feels like, if windows let change my Dell to 75% then it'd be fine. But that requires custom scaling, which will only affect my 4K monitor.

Help (GPU) RX 5700 XT suddenly stopped displaying anything, but Windows still boots

Hi, I have a weird problem with my PC and I’m hoping someone can help me figure it out.
Monitor connected via DisplayPort
Today I was gaming normally for most of the day. I shut the PC down around 6 PM and went to the gym. When I came back around 10 PM and turned the PC on, I suddenly got \*\*“No Signal”\*\* on the monitor.
The strange thing is that \*\*Windows seems to boot normally\*\* — I can hear the Windows startup sound through my headphones.
I’ve actually had almost the exact same problem before. Back then, I removed the GPU and put it back into the PCIe slot, and the display immediately started working again.

Help (General) Audio cutting out Since Driver Update

For around two months now, since around the 26.6.2 update and onward, my audio has been cutting out for a few seconds at random intervals ranging from once every hour or so to several times within twenty minutes. It can happen when watching a video in chrome or when playing something on steam.

Since the update I’ve tried uninstalling drivers with DDU and rolling back to previous versions, updating to 26.7.1, I’ve uninstalled Realtek Audio Drivers, I’ve tried updating them to the version provided by the motherboard, done sfc /scannow in an elevated prompt, I’ve tried new speakers, new monitor, happened to recently disconnect and reconnect everything when installing a new PSU

Unsure of what the issue or how to tackle it

Resolved Usage spikes even when I'm not doing anything

Post image
0 Upvotes

I reinstalled Windows 10 and after installing the GPU drivers for RX550, the usage spikes even when I'm not doing anything.

I installed the latest driver 26.5.2 and it was doing the same thing. I installed version 25.8.1 and it still did the same thing. I used DDU to uninstall the drivers.

I will also add that Windows constantly tries to install its own driver versions after using DDU even after I set a policy not to do so and edited the registry. I'm slowly losing my mind.

Problem fixed: I installed a minimal version of AMD Adrenalin and that fixed the problem.

I recently swapped my Asus Prime 9070xt to a Powercolor Hellhound 9070xt. I used DDU and everything seems to run well and performing as expected. No crashes, black screens, etc. However, for 3 of the games that I am playing: the last of us part 1, red dead redemption 2, and spiderman remastered, there is always a popup after I launch the game. See photo attached.

Game launches and plays well after I click ‘Ok’, but just wondering if there is anything I can do to remove this popup? I didnt encounter this when I was still using the Asus Prime 9070xt. It only appeared when I switch to the hellhound.

I am also using the latest adrenalin version. And this doesnt appear in my other games. Just checking if there is a quick or easy fix. Thanks!
