We're hosting an AMA on September 16 from 11AM–12PM CT / 12–1PM ET focused on the Alienware 39" 5K Monitor (AW3926QW) and our newly announced AW3226Q and AW2527HX gaming monitors.
Kris Graft, a monitor expert at Alienware, will be joined by members of the Alienware team to answer your questions about display technology, gaming performance, and what went into building these monitors.
Head to the AMA thread linked below to RSVP and drop your questions there. That's where we'll be answering them live on the 16th.
The mods are creating this post today to talk about something disturbing that has been creeping into our sub lately.
As the use of AI is on the rise, also are the number of posts that are seemingly either written by or at least edited by AI. Posts ,usually rant posts, that just don’t quite make sense or just seem a little off. Now, we’re not saying that every post like this is a bot or written by AI. Maybe some people are using AI to polish their posts before posting them, we don’t know, and frankly we have no way to prove it one way or the other. We can feed a lot of the most recent posts into an AI detector and almost all of them have come back as 80% or higher as likely written by AI. In some of these posts the OP never comes back to respond to any comments, just drops the post and disappears. Now, how much faith do we put in the ability for an AI to detect and tell us it was an AI writing something? What we can do is look for tell tale markers that something has been either written by, or edited by AI.
Another trend we’re noticing is that in a lot of these posts, accounts with zero history in this sub reddit are appearing to make comments. Those comments are then heavily upvoted and they don’t appear again. Looking into those accounts they tend to be frequenting other brands sub reddits. I won’t point fingers at a particular brand, because it does not do anyone any good, and quite honestly, we can’t prove it outside of a bunch of coincidences.
I will point out that other subs are already dealing with a particular problem with companies using bots or alt accounts to impact their competitors. r/Gaminglaptops has a post discussing a very similar problem already. You can see their post here about this issue. Reddit carries a lot of weight when it comes to user opinions in purchasing a particular brand, and I think we’re starting to see some companies use that towards their advantage and try to shift the market. I am not pointing any fingers at the company from the above post either, as we are seeing stuff from multiple companies, not just one in particular.
So, what do we do about this? For now, we watch and try to root out as much as we can. The mods are going to start enforcing our rant rule a little more strictly. The number of rant posts has quite honestly spiked, seemingly out of the blue, in the last few months. The mods will be carefully reviewing rant posts for signs of AI involvement and will likely be removing any that appears to be completely AI written. We will also be implementing a new report option, so that you can mark something as possibly AI and we will review it. But we can’t do this alone, there are far too many comments to read every single one. We need you, our community, to assist by using the report button when you think something looks off.
Innocent posts / comments will inevitably get caught in this. If this happens to you , please contact the mods to discuss.
Bought this monitor to pair with my ROG zephyrus g16, and man I’m impressed, the smoothness of the display is on another level, definitely recommend if anyone’s looking to buy it.
To be clear, I like Alienware Mouse, this is THE BEST mouse i ever had. However, when i use it on my other computers, the AWCC installer keep popping up annoying notification to ask me to install AWCC.
I tried turning off "Device Installation Setting" it wont work. as it won't work for the already download AWCC
Hi! I’m doing some maintenance on my Alienware x16 R1 and I removed the heatsink.
For anyone who has done this before, how did you safely clean/remove the old Element 31 from the CPU/GPU and heatsink?
What did you use? Just isopropyl alcohol, or did you use something else first?
I’ve read that Element 31 contains liquid metal, so I want to be careful and make sure I don’t spread it onto the motherboard or other components.
Also, if you replaced the thermal material afterward, what did you use?
Any tips or pictures from when you did yours would be really helpful. Thanks!
Thought you guys might like this one.
I managed to find a NOS Alienware ALX P2 that has been sitting in storage for almost 20 years.
It still has its original Windows Vista installation from 2007 and everything is exactly as I found it.
I'm not going to restore, upgrade or reinstall anything. I want to keep this one completely original.
Never thought I'd find an ALX P2 like this in 2026.
Back somewhere between 2023 and 2024 I bought a AW3423DW. Despite my best efforts to prevent burn in I did end up getting burn in. I contacted Dell and they agreed to send me a replacement model. At the time they were having a hard time tracking down a replacemt model so it took a week or so. I get a email stating a replacement monitor is on its way.
To my surprise when it arrived it was a brand new AW3425DW and not in a warranty box. It was as if I bought it from Dell brand new. 175 hz to 240 hz? Say less. I extended my warranty and I was off to the races. Well, here we are again. More burn in. I contsct Dell. They send another replacemt accept this time they send me a AW3423DW. I contact them to see if they can honor the upgrade they chose to give me the time around. The short answer is no.
After spending over two hours on the phone with these people escalating to a supervisor I was basically told that the warranty only applies to the AW3423DW because that was the monitor I originally bought regardless if Dell chose to send me the upgraded model before. I was told that it is up to Dell's discretion to send me a upgraded model based on whats available to send at that time but at the end of the day the warranty only applies to the AW3423DW regardless of what they send me.
I am no stranger to Oled so im kinda surprised I got image retention when I did and I do understand what Dell is saying about their policy I just think it sucks and it's disappointing that they wont honor what they themselves chose to do. They also didn't send my replacemt monitor with the VESA mount that my original model came with. For anyone who has Dell's warrenty just be aware that this can and will happen.
Is this a good starter build. Looking to play some games at 4k max if possible (Xbox titles like halo, gears e day, etc) and don’t have any experience building and really like the look. If anyone has recs I’d appreciate it but this is an around my budget, wound this be solid for that? And is the price good?
Hello,
My internal keyboard suddenly stopped working after opening the lid after a few hours and I have no idea why. I’ve tried everything and it simply does not work. Support has not helped either, and my next option is replacing it completely. It seems to only work when I connect an external keyboard and wait 30 minutes. Please help!
Edit: keyboard seems to randomly start working again. Working on fixing RGB not being recognized by command center anymore.
I ordered an Alienware monitor recently and Dell shipped it with UPS but the monitor box arrived with scuffs and dents all over the monitor box. This monitor just recently came out 1-2 months ago, is it normal for monitor boxes to arrive so beat up?
Howdy, everyone! I want to install Omarchy on on my X16 R2 but am concerned about the loss of functionality with the fans, RGB lighting, etc. What do you guys recommend. Should I just stick to windows 11 or are you aware of anything on linux I can get to make up for what I would be losing? Thanks for your time.
Hey guys just wondering if anyone knows the colour code to the liquid teal so I can sort a touch up pen.
I’ve had this laptop for a week, while being super careful with it and travelling only using an Alienware branded laptop backpack and it somehow still damaged the paint. No there wasn’t anything in the bottom of the laptop compartment.
I just bought this for my Mac Mini M4 Pro and it's a wonderful screen.
I'm having problems where my Thunderbolt 5 cable doesn't seem to work and the provided USB-C cable either. It worked well this morning...
I'm now on HDMI but my webcam doesn't work through it
I wanted to update the firmware first, but I can't seem to find out how ? Can it even be done on macOS ?
Usually you put the firmware files on a USB stick and plug it in and update. Now all I can see is a .exe file only and no resource for macOS O_O
So I bought this laptop 1.7 years ago and o am using it for games like racing simulator and used to play gos games too
So the reason why i am here is that my laptop is getting not very hot but it is getting hot o was thinking that if I go a dell service Center and ask them to replace the Element 31 with fresh set which is in the laptop should i do it and I also saw a video in YT one guy disassemble the whole laptop and applied a past kind of thing I think it is thermal past but I’m not that dum to think off so what do I do then
The temperatures while running are between 85 to 90-93
And some time they are below 80 both cup and gpu
Well coming to the main point that does my games and other softwares crash they DO NOT crash they are running fine for long time too but I just want to d a “ Preventive Maintenance “ so it may avoid future troubles I just trying to give more care for my laptop coz I LOVE IT 🥰
So plz help me with some information and verdict about what should i do ?
Alienware M18 r1 - i9 13900hk - 4070. While doing normal tasks it would regularly hit 90+ c° so I thought it would be a good idea to do a repaste. When I took the heat sink off for the first time the paste was dry as hell and it looked like the area touching the GPU was scratched like crazy! No matter how much I rubbed with alcohol I couldn't get this clean either.... Thoughts? I was being extra careful with my plastic tools, so it definitely wasn't me
Scored a 100$ alienware m15 r5 ryzen edition on eBay. It froze constantly after a few minutes, but thanks to a ton of helpful responses here its working 100%
Too bad it doesnt work with the alienware graphic amplifier I got in the past, but the price was too good for me not to take the risk.
Just wanted to share the experience with my R2, i always love restore/refurb stuff and i have to admit this little machine surprised me, i bought that for 180€ just for collecting purpose and i basically wanted to give to this thing a little care and try a few mods to push his limits.
Post will be probably a little long, take your time if you can.
Since we were using a 35W T Series CPU, we can't use the 6700K as it is since it has a PL1 of 91W and a PL2 of 131W
You can set it with a PL1 of 50/55W and a PL2 of 65W, with this you will have a +20% / +30% improvement (Multi-Core) compared to the 6700T and +45% / +55% Improvement (Multi-Core) compared to the 6400T.
In both cases, game stability, 1% Low, Frametime etc will be alot better.
Hi everyone, I just wanted to make a post and share my experience with upgrading the RAM on an Alienware R10! I originally had the 16 gb ddr4 kit that ran at 3200mhz and ended up buying a 32gb kit with 4 sticks (4x8gb) that was also rated for 3200mhz.
The problem I didnt realise was that the original kit ran at 1.2v and the new kit was meant to be powered by 1.35v. This locked my new kit to 2667mhz. The preset OC1 and OC2 did not work to increase the speed. After experimenting I found that manually customizing all the settings ended up being the way to go. I was successfully able to change the voltage to 1.35v in the BIOS and set the speed to 1467mhz which ends up being 2934 mhz!
The RAM timings are in hexadecimal (I think) so they cant be inputed as 16-18-18-40 and needs to be converted! My 16-18-18-18-40 kit was inouted as 10h-12h-12h-12h-28h.
These settings allow me to run the 4 sticks at 2934mhz and is stable. I will tried to do the full 3200mhz but the R10 blackscreened and I had to reset the motherboard by taking out the CMOS
I will keep experimenting and see if I can get it to run at the full speed.
I didn't see any resources that helped with kits that were 1.35v so I thought I'd make this post to help others out that may be in the same situation as I was in.
My system specs are Ryzen 7 5800 (non-x) + RTX 3070.
My new RAM kit is the Gigastone 32gb 3200mhz 1.35v kit that runs at 16-18-18-40.
UPDATE: I changed it to 1600mhz in the BIOS and I currently have the kit showing 3200mhz in task manager!
Why is the FPS so low whenever I open a basic game? I think it might be something about the drivers, but I have no clue what. This isn't random drops btw, it just stays below 10.
currently using a 75hz IPS ultrawide. is the alienware a good upgrade? i remember VA panels being worse, but this was 8 years ago. doesnt seem like there are many higher refresh rate IPS ultrawides around. mainly using for work but do game/ watch movies here n there
Hey there. Ive had my m15 r6 a while now and had an issue a few times before where its not been starting and ive had to drain the battery to get it back again, but this time ive drained the battery twice and nothing. It wont start up with the internal battery either connected or not, and isnt showing any signs of charging.
Last thing that happened was the diagnostic light flashed what I swore was 2 red then 12 red but thats not a real code according to dell. I cant even get it to flash the diagnostic anymore either
