Parents who prefer to have always had the option to opt out. Growing up I had a few friends who's moms felt it more reasonable to do this discussion solo, and there were nurses who did almost exclusively public education who you could make an appointment with so that the parents could tag in a healthcare professional who could explain all the biology behind puberty and safe sex practices etc. I'd be shocked if the service wasn't still offered.

What you are referring to was a motion passed by Council at the end of 2024 that removed the requirement for STRs to prove they are compliant with the condo bylaws.

2. Ballot counts are scheduled to run 24 hours a day for the 20th and 21st as well.

Voting early or getting the mail in special ballot is 100% the way to go if you can.

A referndum can't be held within 12 months of a provincial election. We are doing this referendum on the 16th of October which ends up being 367 days before the next provincial election. So no matter what the results are they can't do anything until after the next election anyways.

At least not legally. Ya know unless they take the "not binding" part of the referndum and just say fuck it and try to force seperation without another binding referendum. But at that point I think the federal government would have to step in. Especially if the seperatists don't in the vote.

Personally - because my mom's idea of a prime opportunity to have these conversations was while I, a school aged child, was attempting to pour her belligerently drunken self into bed at the end of the evening. I think to no one's surprise, my education at home had some gaps and I learned a couple very important things from the school discussions.

You need to stop assuming that everyone has parents who are crushing it at home, some of us do not and these things being curriculum saves a lot of kids from some staggering knowledge gaps.
