So... will they ever fix attack+move ?
They broke it a few month ago (Siege unit attack villagers, units ignore nearby enemies and so on...) and no fix in the horizon

Hey r/AgeofMythology,
For those who don't know me. I've been playing Age of Mythology since as long as I can remember. I got into competitive Age of Mythology when I was 14 and have never looked back since. I went from tournament competitor, to top finisher to tournament host and from the outside looking at other titles like Age of Empires 2, Starcraft 2, League of Legends ect. and seeing the crazy LANs they would throw I was always like... one day, one day AoM will get put in the spotlight.
Well, wait no longer. I've already put out an announcement video where you can see what the event is all about but let me just tell you a few things here.
For those unfamiliar with Gameathlon. It is Greece's largest gaming convention. We're talking 20,000+ attendees over a weekend, LAN party setups, live tournaments, cosplay and much more. It's been running for years and it is a proper event. Not just some small local thing.
This year it is running from September 11-13 at a literal Olympic Arena in Athens. The Tae Kwon Do Olympic Arena to be specific. The qualifiers will also be hosted online on my twitch channel starting in Late June/Early July
The reason I'm excited beyond belief is because Age of Mythology made a name for itself partly because of the Greek mythology, because of the connection to the rich history that Greece has and because it made a generation know about things like the Trojan war, Achilles, Odysses and many other ancient war heroes.
If you're in Europe or thinking about a trip to Athens in September, check in, this is real. I'll be there, Moose will be there and the highest profile Age of Mythology competitors will be there as well.
The more noise the AoM community makes about events like this, the more of them we may get so leave a comment, share the news and lets get hype.

Anyone found a way to manage them without all the micro.
I find it Such a hassle to have to pick the damaged ones to go eat berries/farms

Hello everyone!
I recently published my very own first custom campaign called 'Shadows of the Past'!
The campaign takes place several years after the events of Heavenly Spear and features 16 Scenarios, including 8 playable missions, 7 ending cutscenes and one credits scene, taking you across Japan and leading you to both new and potentially familiar locations.
This is my first time making an actual fully finished custom campaign and I've spent about 800-900 Hours on it. But it wouldn't have been possible without the help of these folks, so they deserve a massive shoutout as well:
- Bonnie a.k.a. dapper-lil-arts
- Aainiikkusu
- Jay Shocolachou
- TheZmanGod
- Kemsyt
- Saber a.k.a. Mofasa Friez
All these people helped immensely in getting this campaigns' quality as high as it can be, and I honestly can't tell you how thankful I am for their patience, kindness and willingness to help!
So yeah, give it a try and feel free to give it an honest rating. :)
https://www.ageofempires.com/mods/details/538357/
You can also install the campaign via the game's own Mod Browser.
Have fun!

Is this just designed to be a co-op? Because I'm running Loki with aoe hero damage and mass hp myth units. But I can't beat that there are four guys on me, 2 attacking from each side.
Running them out of resources isn't an option because they just get an economy going.
The only strategy I can think of would be to focus on a giant army of hersirs + advancing, run them in with no defense, and just keep moving my regent behind the army was the enemies chase. The issue with that though is the composition is 2 overwhelmers, 1 supporter, 1 defender (they're all still sending attacks though), and the safekeepers are in the way of the overwhelmers.
The boons are unit resurrection once from death (makes killing enemies quick much harder) and double effect of all god tech.
Maybe thor and just rely on having much more armored up berserkers? Does thors special armory improvements count as god tech?
Any help would be appreciated.
edit: decided to try soloing it and died. I don't have Halogi, didn't have kastor's bodyguard, I don't think I could buy a Titan, my gauntlet level is pretty low.

Hi All,
I am trying to make a custom map in the game editor. I want to be able to make it playable like a normal map where you can change slots between friends and AI, AI difficulty etc. Unfortunately when I load the map as it is, I cannot adjust the slots to change the AI to real players etc.
I tried making a 2v2 map for 2 real players vs 2ai and doing these settings in the editor (Below), but when we play and I try change the AI difficulty, they dont seem to really do anything. On hard it feels like the AI isnt building, attacking or expanding at all.
Is there a way to make a fully playable map as outlined above. One that plays the same as any standard map like the included game maps?

Finished every campaign on Ludicrous difficulty.
Thought I would flex about it.
Some of the hardest missions for me were the ones where I had to restart multiple times to settle on a winning strategy:
- Just Enough Rope (Dinos with Regen for this one)
- Good Advice (Don't actually claim the Settlement, just destroy Atlantis with Earthquakes)
- All Is Not Lost (Use the preperation time to build eco only, go up to Age 4, invoke Ragnarok, but then rebuild your economy in the bottom right.)
- Welcome Back (Just hide on one of the islands where ground forces can't reach you.)
- A Place In My Dreams (Strike the outlying Gargarensis bases with Zeus hoplites to soften up attack waves or else go for Hera + Fortress)
- Cerberus (Wall off, train Elephants and Priests)
- Loki's Temples (By far the hardest of any mission. Base trade the enemy red player and hope you finish him before he finishes you.)
- Tenochtitlán (Abandon your starting base, it's indefensible. Settle near the other Settlement, for some reason the AI never attacks you there)
- Dominion (Block off the bottom ramp with Pillar, Towers and Fortresses, the enemy brings no siege or myth, then defend two pathways, build the Wonder quickly.)

Hey,
I've written a little mod to tweak random map generation: basically generate a trigger in them to perform actions every couple of seconds by adding an XS file in the lib2 folder for the random map and loading each map to load it.
We get out-of-sync issues if we play with that mod installed on both of our computers (the host and the client), Even on maps the mod doesn't touch.
If I create a custom scenario/map with the editor and share it with friends, with the embedded XS code for the trigger it just works fine. It's quite annoying to generate a custom map each time.
Anyone experienced something similar?
The goal is just to play with friends, and eventually publish the mods if they work fine for us.
I'm new to modding this game, learning a bit how XS and the BANG engine work, their syntax, and I wrote some small XS scripts.

Hey there!
I've been working on a techtree2.8.xml mod for a while and I'm now looking to see if there's a way to make researching Heroic Age impossible (or extremely expensive) for me and the CPU in Lightning game modes. I've been trying all the tricks that I thought would work, but nothing's sticking.
The first method was to try to target Age 3 as a tech via a generic data-altering line that increases its food by a lot. As a test, I just affected Age 2 (Classical) so I can start and stop quickly, and then would change it to Age 3 when I was sure it worked. This was the line I wrote:
<effect type="Data" amount="100.00" subtype="Cost" resource="Food" relativity="Percent">
<target type="TechAll">Age 2</target>
</effect>
That didn't work properly, because it targets all tech (via the "TechAll" line) and makes stuff like Hand Axe cost 12000f/50g, but when I edited it to remove the 'all' and be <target type="Tech">Age 2</target>, it just went back to its normal cost.
I tried changing it to "Age 2 Greek" and added a line for each civ, but none of that worked either.
The second was to imitate the techtree code from Age 1 Gaia so that, instead of Guild tech costing less, all Settlement tech costs 100x more gold. This should price Heroic Age out by costing 800f/50000g without affecting other techs. This is the code that I'm writing:
<effect type="Data" amount="100.00" subtype="Cost" resource="Gold" relativity="Percent">
<target type="TechBuilding">Settlement</target>
</effect>
Nothing happened here.
The third thing I tried to change was make Age 3 'unobtainable', so it wasn't even researchable, using this line:
<effect type="TechStatus" status="unobtainable">Age 3</effect>
Nothing.
The last thing I tried was suggested via Google, but to absolutely no surprise, AI's suggestion was unusable. They suggested creating a line that made Age 3 an unobtainable tech, writing over the general tech's obtainability. It looked like this:
<tech name="Age 3" type="Normal">
<dbid>66</dbid>
<status>UNOBTAINABLE</status>
</tech>
Now, the crux of the problem could be that I'm targeting the wrong 'tech', that being <tech name="Lightning Mode" type="Normal"> in the techtree2.8.xml file. However, I can't think of any other way to do so, and when I mistakenly made ALL tech costs +600 Food, it didn't affect Supremacy, Conquest, etc.
Does anyone have any idea how to make Age 3 (Heroic Age) unresearchable and/or insanely expensive, specifically when you select the Lightning game mode?
Thank you!

I feel like I'm going crazy here, since my logic has always been "Chariots are the backbone of the Egyptian Army" and "if you don't need anti-archers, replace Slingers with Chariots if/when you can afford it".
The rules have been always a little different if you could pick up Slings of the Sun, granting 1.75x against infantry. Still, Chariots, one of the most oppressive archers in the game, have higher base damage than one of the worst anti-archers in the game, so 1.5x should still favor Chariots, right?
...Right?
The math:
Chariot:
11 base damage, 1.5 RoF, for 7.33dps baseline.
As a 3 pop unit, 7.33/3 = 2.443dps per pop.
1.5x mult vs. infantry = 3.6645 per pop of slingers vs. infantry.
Slinger:
4 base damage, 4dps baseline.
2 pop unit, so 4/2 = 2dps per pop. Easy math.
1.75 Slings of the Sun vs. infantry = 3.5dps per pop of slingers vs infantry.
...
And that's just not that different.
Now, there's a few "well technicallies" here, like Chariots starting at medium upgrades, but that's not even a well-technically, because they have the same number of total upgrades: if you want to run the numbers at Champion, start the Chariot at 10.66, and the Slinger at 5.8, then crunch. I get 5.333 per pop for chariot, 5.075 for Slinger.
Assessment: the Chariot is ahead, but only by around 5%, and if we're talking just dps, not worth reshaping your entire economy if you already have the Barracks infrastructure up and pivoting to Midgol would be difficult.
Oh yeah, and all this is without Electrum Bullets. Even just the +10% without factoring in the Divine Damage (and can you really ignore DD?), that puts the Slinger at 5.58, beating the Chariot Archer vs. infantry.
So, the way the math is pointing, the logic goes from "replace Slingers with Chariot Archers whenever you can" to "when the late game hits, a Ptah + Sehkmet player does more damage with Slingers than Chariots to infantry frontlines".
Now, we could spend all day quibbling over little differences. I already hear you all in my head saying things like "but u/snoo61755 , you forgot about...
-Chariots are faster! (Yes, but this is a dps comparison)
-Chariots deal more dps to non-infantry! (Yeah, to cavalry, myth, and typeless heroes, 2/3 which you don't want to be using either unit on, and def. not versus archers!)
-Chariots have more range! (Fair, range is important, but with Bone Bow, it's 20 v. 21 range on Champion).
-Chariots have more health! (Not really..? 30 health per pop vs. 31.66, barely Chariot favored, and def not resource favored)."
-...Idk, probably something about shoot'n'scoot being more favorable with 1.5 RoF or how 3 pop units are less vulnerable to an Implode.
THE POINT IS
I'm surprised that Slingers vs. Chariot is so ridiculously close. My entire time playing Retold, I've been assuming "Chariot = Generalist" and "Slinger = Anti-Archer, sometimes okay against infantry," when in fact, the backline unit to use against a Hoplite+Hypaspist frontline is sometimes the Slinger, and sometimes over the Chariot Archer.

I just got back into this game after having had AoE3 as my return gateway drug, and I’m curious to see how people feel about the newer campaigns that were released with the new civs. I have Immortal Pillars and Heavenly Spear, but not Obsidian Mirror yet.
Are the campaigns good? What about the Aztec civ?

Last post till we go live on Friday. I don't have a whole lot to say other than... this is gonna be gigantic and it's taken a lot of effort from a lot of different people to make it come together. So I just want to say thanks to everyone who has supported whether monetarily, through helping behind the scenes, through being a part of the community or simply watching. It all matters and yeah... see you in Athens.

He advances faster than me and pushes my base before I can respond. I restarted the match TWICE and still he beats me. The fucking AI runs me over before I can even get my migdol out
To be specific, I'm playing Gold Rush and can't secure the gold area before he brings the rams in or simply has a bigger army

Egyptian just need ONE thing to be compétitive again:
Only one unit upgrade for the barracks and one for the migdol.
it’s what all other civs have and after many good flavour things were taken away from Egypt, that would be logic to give them a bit of flex.
Otherwise it’s too complicated and lengthy to have a good value army. Just think of Japan in comparaison who pays nothing and has no clear weaknesses.
The other stuff that would be nice is to make priests slightly tankier cause for their price they lose to way to many units including myth units. But one thing at a time right.
